It's funny... Are ya'll the same way?Like this weekend, I was super active and worked out a lot - my brother and I even went running/walking around my neighborhood for two hours Sat. night because I was in Lexington w/ them....Also, whenever I have the apt to myself and my boyfriend is not around- I am super motivated and I will work out like crazy...But when he is around, I just want to cuddle w/ him on the chaise, etc. BLAH!!! Then he gets mad when I want to kick him out hahaha[Edited on April 23, 2007 at 4:06 PM. Reason : STAY MOTIVATED KIWI!!!!!!][Edited on April 23, 2007 at 4:08 PM. Friday night I went to the gym after a 12 hour work day and my legs were killing me due to the exercises we did Thursday morning. Well that workout was basically a waste because it hurt to do anything harder than a fast walk. The next day my legs still hurt after another 12 hour shift on my feet so I skipped the gym. On sunday my left knee was hurting, I think some dog ran into it, but it was a pain putting any weight on it. So I skipped the gym again.Today I feel obese and angry with myself for not eating perfectly over the weekend. [Edited on April 23, 2007 at 4:09 PM. Reason : meep!]

Anyway, I feel better now! Thanks tdub! ^^My problem is working long days then skipping the workout because I'm exhausted. Poop on that! The exhaustion also leads to laziness when it comes to making food, ie eating poorly. My man goes to the gym with me often times so rock on!
4/23/2007 8:37:36 PM
Oh you're so lucky. My boyfriend sits on the chaise watching TV... while looking all skinny... while eating ice cream and peanuts while I am working out on the elliptical.. Grrrr...
4/24/2007 9:34:52 AM
hah Ryan eats about three times as much as I do. He went to the doctor and his cholesterol was through the roof so that's when we both made the decision to start eating healthier. He may be skinny and in good shape but his heart isn't saying so.It definitely helps to have someone there to say "No Karen our bad day was on Monday, tonight we'll have grilled chicken and a salad. Relax while I cook it for you."*swoon* EDIT:I don't know how to ask him to help me get perky tits. If they stay this way and only delfate they're gonna sag big time. How do I say "Yo my boobs, let's make em cooler" without leading into some big long thing about my boobs? What exercises can I do to achieve this??[Edited on April 24, 2007 at 10:15 AM. 4/24/2007 10:22:14 AM
I think I'm about at 16 or 17 lbs lost.... Although it is not a good week to weigh myself.
4/24/2007 10:22:26 AM
what are the chances of me....21 yr old male at 232 lbs....losing 15 or so by july 7th (my sister's wedding)? by no means am i fat, but i have definitely put on about 20 lbs since college. i have a muscular build if that helps u get an idea for my body type.. and, what are ways to stay motivated? thanks guys

50 pounds motherfuckersrepresent
4/24/2007 10:29:57 AM
^^ Something I did last year when I was trying to lose weight was to write down everything I eat, and everything I did for exercize. I would feel bad if I saw "donuts, kit cats, steak, etc" and saw "nothing" for exercize. I still write down my exercize on a white board in my apartment just to make sure I dont get too lazy.[Edited on April 24, 2007 at 10:31 AM. Reason : arrow]

^^^^Woot!!! I had to do it in baby steps. First it was soda and fast food, gone out of my life. Next it was drink more water than milk. Then it was spend twenty minutes at the gym sweating. Breathing hard, just getting it out there. Then I increased time, resistance, difficulty. I rewarded myself for the small accomplishments. Basically giving myself a pat on the back for doing something I couldn't when I started.I allow myself to eat something devilishly bad once a week. It keeps me on my diet better than if I were to sacrifice everything forever. I can go out to eat, I can enjoy life, but in limitation and I'm ok with that.Lower caloric intake increase caloric burn. Voila![Edited on April 24, 2007 at 10:32 AM. Reason : how long did it take you to lose the 50lbs?]

thanks for the tips...i like the idea of writing down what i eat and what excersize i do...soft drinks and fast food cut outs are a great idea as well..thanks guys...i'll keep you posted
4/24/2007 10:34:22 AM
How true is this? Most articles I've read said substitute foods with this stuff...of course in moderation.
4/25/2007 12:15:27 PM
all that list sounds right to me[Edited on April 25, 2007 at 12:16 PM. Reason : one glass of wine a day]
4/25/2007 12:16:28 PM
What I've read over the past few months has said use olive oil instead of butter, not a lot but some. Use it in salads instead of normal salad dressing too.Honey makes sense, the added sugar can't be good for you.I knew that about juice, that's why I drink skim milk and water.Wheat bread, basically read the label. The first three ingredients should list whole wheat or whole grain.Skim milk is good for you, as is dairy.Cheese, I heard swiss and some other kind are ok in moderation.Red wine for health benefits.Fish, knew about the mercury content but don't cross it off the list because of that. One magazine I have has a list of the fish poisoned the most and ones that are ok to eat.
4/25/2007 12:21:10 PM
1- i wouldnt use oil anyway2- honey is thick at room temp...seems like it'd clog arteries and shit3- sugary water...tons of calories4- i kinda dont get that one...i eat some like 6g protein/5g fiber wheat bread5- use skim or 1 percent6- one slice a day wont hurt, but u dont need cheese7- one glass a day?8- salmon is good for you i think...i eat one can of tuna a day- hope i dont die

1. Olive oil has almost the same number of calories as any other oil on the shelf...Around 120 per tablespoon. It is better for you in other areas, but still should be avoided if you are dieting.2. True. It's amazing that some people don't realize this. I had a 40 year old co-worker tell me that she had a 0 calorie lunch because all she ate was a small watermelon. I had to tell her that calories occur in plant life too, especially fruits.3. Definately true. Most juices rival soft drinks in terms of calories. It just happens that they can contain vitamins and minerals that your body needs whereas soft drinks have almost no redeeming value. Good for you in moderation, but not good if you are trying to cut calories to diet.4. Yep. Just because it is wheat doesn't mean that the wheat wasn't processed. Look for "whole wheat" or "whole grain" as mentioned.5. Drink skim milk and do so in moderation. It has been proven that a diet that includes calcium from dairy products can aid in weight loss, but you still have to count calories while consuming it.6. Might as well just cut cheese out all together if you are dieting and bring it back in moderation when you are done.7. Wine is low in calories for an alcohol, but that doesn't give you a green light to drink the bottle. It is a good source of antioxidants, but you can get those elsewhere. Probably not good for a dieter, but for everyone else it is good in moderation.8. I<3 Fish. I grilled some flounder yesterday for dinner. Just don't eat it 10 times a week, vary the type and source of your fish, and you shouldn't have to worry.^ lol...The actual honey does not get pushed into your bloodstream.[Edited on April 25, 2007 at 1:31 PM. I'm not a fish fan so I take fish oil pills. I like tuna, that's about it.
4/25/2007 1:30:01 PM
hell yeah kiwi...i consider tuna pound for pound the most healthiest food on the planetone can=150 calories and 33 grams of protein!
4/25/2007 1:30:52 PM
Cheap too, .58 cents a can.I hope the mercury levels aren't ridiculously high in it.I try to eat high protein foods for dinner/lunch. I'll switch chicken for turkey for tuna, for eggs. I just rotate them out. What others forms of protein are there besides tofu?
4/25/2007 1:32:29 PM
kiwi we are getting oldi remember when you could get 3 cans for a dollar
4/25/2007 1:33:03 PM
I have never tried tuna in a can. What does it taste like? It just reminds me of cat food, so I've never bought it.
4/25/2007 1:34:58 PM
just drain out the water and put a little seasoning in it...shits good with a fork right out of the can
4/25/2007 1:35:36 PM
I don't suppose it will taste anything like a tuna steak?
4/25/2007 1:40:23 PM
What seasoning do you use?
4/25/2007 1:46:15 PM
chef paul prudhommes magic seasoning salt...maybe a little bit of pepper but usually just thatanother good thing is a little bit of italian dressing
4/25/2007 1:47:26 PM
^^^nope. And I hate it b/c I can't get past the smell, ugh!
4/25/2007 1:53:20 PM
Should I go workout now even though the bf wants to go tonight and I don't know if I'd want to go twice? Or just wait...
4/25/2007 2:10:54 PM
Go twice yo.
4/25/2007 3:04:11 PM
Please to explain this phenomenon.I worked out at 4pmish today getting home at 5:30 promptly eating a tuna sandwich with a small side salad and a tall glass of cold water. However, everytime I stood up I got an intense "head rush" feeling. It was to the point where I suffered vision loss, extreme dizziness, and the scorging pain you get when something moves through your brain. Then at 9pm I became extremely tired, to the point where I couldn't put my book down fast enough, couldn't lay down fast enough, my eyelids were so heavy. I felt slightly dizzy and wanted to throw up. I literally passed out and when my bf woke me up to move from the couch to the bed I felt the same. Couldn't function, couldn't move without feeling sick and had a pain in my head near my eyebrows. Finally at 11:30 or so it stopped and I haven't been able to sleep since. Also, my stomach is growling, ignore it or eat something? Or maybe drink a glass of milk??
4/26/2007 12:23:31 AM
sounds like you have have low blood sugar or dehydration. i'd recommend some fruit (like an apple) to help balance things out. the body does funny things when it feels out of wack. i'm getting back to the gym now because i barely fit into the bra corset and skirt slip for my wedding dress. i'm mostly just avoiding most junk food and fatty foods and getting on the treadmill for a fast walk or jog for at least 30 minutes a night. but i'll be damned if exercising the last few days hasn't made me hungry as HELL!
4/26/2007 12:29:23 AM
I was hoping low blood sugar wouldn't be an issue, but meh. Diabetes runs in the family so I guess I should watch it. Maybe a nice apple to satisfy me. For some reason I was worried about fluid in the brain and swelling and all sorts of crazy things haha. With working out I've noticed too that I've become hungrier. Ravishing type hungry. Not fun. I think exercise is good no matter what size/shape you are. Keeps a healthy heart which will serve you long down the road. Kudos!
4/26/2007 12:34:47 AM
well, make sure you never cut sugar completely out of your diet (even if it only exists in the form of fruits). your brain can only use glucose (sugars) for metabolism. the liver can convert lactate and glycogen back to glucose and release it into the blood stream, but if you are already exhausting those stores through weight loss and dieting, your body may not be able to keep up. a starved brain is an angry brain!
4/26/2007 2:30:57 AM
Just do the Christian Bale diet:

How open should I be since I'm losing weight?Ah the hell. At my fattest, yes nasty blubbering rolling fattyness, I was a size.........................17. Now I can button a pair of size ten shorts and pants I own, definite muffin top but I use it as a gauge. I want to be like a size 6 or 8. Single digits ftw!Ok now don't go telling everyone my secrets.
4/26/2007 11:28:32 AM
I'm a size 6-8 now thanks to the 16-17 lbs I have lost...And I want to be a 4-6.I am being very very bad this week though... The chocolate cravings are killing me this week and I haven't worked out as much. But Kiwi-- Looking good in the drama thread!! You go chica.
4/26/2007 11:31:56 AM
I don't know if I'd fit into that small size even if there was no fat on my body, but we'll see what looks right when we get there.Doing measurements next week! My test is the weekend, gotta get through it without eating craptastic foods.
4/26/2007 11:35:28 AM
I started dieting a week ago. A year ago I tried it, lost about 20 lbs in a few months but I"ve gained it all back over the last year. WHen I did it a year ago, I used hydroxycut, I'm not sure if it had any impact on my weight loss. But knowing that I spent $60 on the pills really made choose to not eat cheeseburgers because I'd be wasting that investment.male, 5'7 205lbs...I have a large frame so I don't look as disgusting as that sounds, but I definitely need to lose about 30 lbs.Can anybody suggest foods that are generally filling and/or delicious that they eat that are good? Or some secrets you've found in the grocery store?
4/26/2007 3:12:13 PM
i couldn't tell you how much i weigh (or much i weighed)...but i'm down from 38 to a 36 and the 36 is loose...should be a 34 by the time middle of may rolls aroundw00t.
