well to go with the original point Miami is better even without Davis, as well as the other teams I mentioned.
Davis is a career 14.4 ppg at .451% while Richardson is 18.3 at .433. Though Ricky's numbers are skewed low due to three seasons that he did not play much.
I'd rather have Richardson because he is a better rebounder, seems a little tougher and I was turned off on Ricky Davis when he tried to get that triple double by throwing at his own goal.
Richardson also seemed like an asshole when he threw the ball off of carlos boozer's forehead in the rookie/sophomore game. But he's clearly a better teammate, though oft-injured.
I think there is a chance the Cats make the playoffs. I really think it depends on Wallace's health and if Okafor can make up for the lack of depth up front. I think we could sneak in at the 8th spot if Orlando and Miami slip. I just thought that this thread was getting a little delusional about our starting five. I clearly think Wallace and Richardson are high quality players. If healthy, I think we're a deep team. I just don't think we have what we need down low and I'm not as impressed with Felton as the rest of you.

Throwing the ball off Boozer's head makes him anything but an asshole.
And he's not oft-injured; besides last year, he only missed 23 out of 410 games with Golden State. Just had a knee problem last year, hopefully a one time deal. He's still only 26. 11/6/2007 4:47:23 PM |

touche' on the injuries, knee injuries are just scary. He is still really young. The boozer thing is a joke, but it did seem malicious compared to the other tricks in an all star game. 11/6/2007 4:51:47 PM |

I don't think its unreasonable to hype up the starting 5, but I agree we must stay healthy cause our bench is not good...Carroll, Hermann...about the only reliable bench scorers...but our starting 5 is just fine 11/6/2007 4:52:55 PM |

most starting 5's in the east have at least one position with a glaring weakness...so the fact that 4 of our starting 5 are legit makes our starting 5 legit 11/6/2007 4:57:05 PM |

if morrison and may were available, i think our bench would be deep enough for a 6th spot in the playoffs. as is, i think we're too shallow to maintain an uptempo style and still have the juice for a road-heavy second half of the season. i'm hopin for an 8th spot, but i'm not countin on it. still though, there's a lot of reason for excitement. the starting five can contend with most teams in the east, so its just a matter of tweaking the roster and healing at this point.
i'd love to go to the game tonight, but i dont have a single friend that cares about nba basketball, and i'm not gonna go by myself. only way i can get to games is if i win some suite tickets from work, cause my friends will go for the free food.

Losing 59-37 at halftime. Shooting 6 of 11 (if im not mistaken) from the free throw line. But the amount of calls that the Suns are getting is unbelievable. If we so much as touch one of their players it's called on the spot, not to mention the numerous times a Suns player was all over the back of a Bobcat going for a rebound. 11/6/2007 8:09:46 PM |

Davidson did look good for the few minutes he was in. 100X better than Primoz neway.
Derek Jeter taking in the game as well.
Felton down with a knee injury, had to be basically carried off the floor.

Bad loss tonight, but the last 2 games have really showed how good of a draft the Bobcats had this year (with the JRich trade, and Dudley pick at #22).
Richardson (29 pts 5 reb) vs. the Heat on Sunday.
And tonight:
Dudley 16 pts 11 reb (Just does all the dirty work inside, hit some good mid-range shots as well) Davidson 6 pts 7 reb (showed some extremly nice post moves, and great mid-range touch).

we should sign "little" earl boykins.
I would love to see him in a 'Cats jersey and I think he would be a good addition, especially if Felton is limited or ineffective this season. Sammy V would just have to tell Little Earl that he can't shoot as much as he would like. 11/7/2007 6:15:25 PM |

i had suite tickets for the game, but almost bailed cause i figured they'd get stomped... i gave in and headed up there. looked like a loss til about 10 minutes to go in the 4th. nice rally, and gerald wallace was nailin some jumpers. very nice to see. off night for jrich. he didnt even come back in the last quarter i dont think. that lineup with wallace, okafor, carroll, mcinnis, and felton was gettin things done. 11/9/2007 10:07:54 PM |

felton looked pretty good. i think i heard he played 35 minutes, and he seemed to be movin around fine on offense and defense. he had some really nice passes that unfortunately werent turned into buckets... either missed shots or fouls. the 4 assists doesnt really represent how good of a game he was havin dishin the ball out. 11/10/2007 10:34:23 AM |

from the Bill Simmons article
Quote : | "15. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS Preseason prediction: 28 wins (14th) Revised prediction: 26 wins
The Bobcats actually aren't terrible, which brings us to this season's most important theme: The NBA hasn't had this much overall talent since the early '90s, and even then, the contenders could always rely on easy matchups with bottom-feeders such as the Clippers, Magic, Wolves, Hornets, Kings, Bullets and Heat. You couldn't call any bottom-feeder "atrocious" or even "lousy" in 2007, so there won't be any easy road games until injuries start piling up. Personally, I think we're headed for a symmetrical season in which six or seven contenders (Boston, Detroit, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and possibly Denver) finish somewhere above 50 wins, five or six teams (Charlotte, Washington, Philly, Minnesota, Seattle and possibly Memphis) settle somewhere below 30 wins, and everyone else settles into that 35- to 45-win range.
Anyway, here's my problem with the Bobcats: They have two high-lottery picks (Emeka Okafor and Ray Felton), two missing lottery picks (Sean May and Adam Morrison, both out for the season), one high-profile veteran acquisition (Jason Richardson, acquired this summer for the No. 8 pick), and $81 million worth of re-signed small forwards (Gerald Wallace and Matt Carroll). That's their nucleus for now, and every move was defensible except for the absurd Carroll contract. Well, do you see a Go-To Guy anywhere in that group? Me neither. Trailing the Rockets by one Sunday night, the Bobcats isolated Wallace for their final possession against T-Mac. Even before the play unfolded, I was sitting there thinking, "All right, this has a zero percent chance of working." Wallace drove right, got swallowed up by T-Mac, threw up an off-balance brick and got called for an offensive foul to boot. Get ready for about 15 moments like that this season, Bobcats fans. If you even exist.
Reason No. 12,743 why I love the NBA: Okafor turning down Charlotte's $55 million extension when he has played in 166 of a possible 266 games over the past three seasons. I'm not one of the best 10 power forwards in the league. I can't stay on the court, and I don't have any low-post moves. Guys, the bidding starts at $70 million! The NBA needs to work this saga into its "Where Amazing Happens" campaign: "Where Emeka Okafor Does Nothing For Three Years And Turns Down $55 Million Happens."
Reason No. 12,744 why I love the NBA: The Cats spent a No. 3 pick on Morrison and $81 million on Carroll and Wallace … yet I like Jared Dudley more than all of them. Please, Lord, lemme have one billionaire reader buy an NBA team and make me a GM before I die. I don't ask for much." |

he must have missed the Bucks and Heat games where J-Rich was the go to guy and we won the game
we're on pace for a 41-41 season...not saying that will happen...but 26 wins? i mean we won 33 games last year without much production from may and morrison...then we added j-rich...is adding j-rich and subtracting voskuhl and brevin supposed to make us 7 games worse?11/13/2007 6:01:33 PM |
