why did he have to go down during what probably would have been his best season to date?
he was on pace to be in that top group of elite QB's this year.
What's the success rate (in terms of coming back to pro sports) for tommy johns surgery? I heard that only a handful of QB's have even had it. 12/11/2007 1:56:49 PM |

3 games:
8 td's
1 int
projected over 16 games:
42 td's
6 int's
You can say he wouldn't have kept it up, but you can deny the fact that he was on that pace. 12/11/2007 2:03:11 PM |

Fuck 3 games, you can take a 3 game sample from any QB in the league and he looks great
Jake is never going to be a great QB in this league
But he is so much better than the alternative for this team that I'd say only about half a dozen teams would fall further than we did if their starting QB went out
Obviously Indy, New England and Dallas...then probably New Orleans and Jacksonville and Cincinatti.
The rest of the great QB's have decent backups so they wouldn't fall as hard.
Batch, Wallace, Feeley, Collins, Volek, Quinn...we thought Carr would be that guy for us. 12/11/2007 2:11:55 PM |

yeah he might not've been in the Brady/Manning/Romo/Favre group but he's consistently been a top 10 QB, even if it was 10th place 12/11/2007 2:12:09 PM |

I would take these QB's over Jake any day of the week
Brady Manning ROFL Romo Palmer Hasselbeck Brees Favre
I put Jake in the next group with guys like Anderson, Garrard, Eli, and McNabb 12/11/2007 2:15:58 PM |

its always easy for people to forget what Jake's done
for example, he's done infinitely more than Eli, Garrard, Anderson, etc 12/11/2007 2:17:15 PM |

Yeah he's done more good things but a lot more bad things too
Give me the choice of Jake, Garrard or Anderson for 1 season and I'd have to think long and hard about it
I'd probably pick Garrard, then Jake, then Anderson 12/11/2007 2:20:38 PM |

Trade Foster and Deangelo for Taylor and MJD and I'd take Jake all day 12/11/2007 2:22:34 PM |

Jake would have more TDs but more picks too
Garrard makes very few mistakes
Plus he make things happen with his legs
Jake is a fucking statue 12/11/2007 2:24:18 PM |

Garrard makes very few mistakes and very few throws as well
That team is built around defense and running the ball like Fox WISHES the Panthers were
I'm well aware of what both Garrard and Anderson have done this season, but I can't jump on their bandwagons when they've each started what, 12-15 games in their entire careers?
It would be pretty funny if Cleveland trades Anderson just since Quinn is the future and completely fucks up the Brownies after one good year] 12/11/2007 2:26:53 PM |

imo, his importance to our team was as much leadership as it was his level of play.....from day one he brought a sense of confidence that we just don't have now.
on any given sunday when he was playing, imo we had a good chance to win.....now I consider it a moral victory if we give the other team a competitive game.
I'm not saying that he is one of the top 5 QB's in the league, but he was very important to the team, and off to by far the best start in his career, not to mention one of the best starts in the league....we'd be in the hunt for the division if he hadn't gotten hurt.

coincidence that it was pretty much downhill after del rio left?

Well to be fair to Garrard, he did lead the Jags to I think a 4-1 record when Leftwich was out 2 years ago
But his body of work is much smaller than Jakes
For a John Fox-style offense though, Garrard is a much better fit 12/11/2007 2:34:50 PM |

Garrard does look very good....he makes the very same receivers look great that leftwich made look like JV players. You can see he just get's it out there. 12/11/2007 2:37:40 PM |

I like Garrard but again its tough to compare different style QBs although I'd agree Jake and Garrard are in the same "group"
I just wish all the Jake haters who are like "well Jake is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning" would realize there is only 1 Tom Brady and only 1 Peyton Manning in the whole world and 30 teams in the NFL do not have Tom Brady's or Peyton Mannings 12/11/2007 2:37:51 PM |

I was hoping for that to happen and the panthers to make a run at him.12/11/2007 2:40:59 PM |

They've already hinted that they plan to trade Anderson. I think they're going to sign him and then try and trade him, they're pretty set on sticking it out with Quinn. I think they would be better to try and trade Quinn, but they might be able to get something decent out of Anderson, he really has had a solid season. 12/11/2007 2:52:40 PM |

I'd like to see the panthers make an offer....wonder what the browns would be looking for in return? 12/11/2007 3:25:11 PM |

they would probably want a first round pick, since they traded theirs away last year. 12/11/2007 3:29:36 PM |

The browns are going to put the highest tender on him (restricted free agent), and so any team that signs him to an offer sheet that the Browns don't match will give up a 1st and 3rd round pick. 12/11/2007 3:31:27 PM |

not sure if this has been mentioned, but it's pretty funny...

honestly i want to clean house and keep very few players/coaches 12/13/2007 5:08:34 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148450 Posts user info edit post |
cleaning house takes awhile though...can our fans withstand actual rebuilding seasons? probably...i mean the outlook in panthers nation is completely pessimistic right now...the outlook was like that for State football and bball when we still had Herb and Chuck...then we rebuilt, and while we arent as good right now as we were with Herb and Chuck, the outlook is more optimistic and we're not expecting to win X number of games every year
i just want to draft Darren McFadden 12/13/2007 5:15:02 PM |
