Actually, you can stop paying if you think he should go. I'm all about people putting their money where their mouth is.

I think frasor was a mcdonalds all american plus they had quinton thomas. think about it like this. Frasor is worlds better than thomas and thomas ran FUCKING CIRCLES around javi saturday. That should give you some perspective. most freshmen pgs on major college basketball teams are capable. ours aren't. Trade for nolan smith stitt, flynn etc and we are a top 20 team

Degand was the solution. The season was over as soon as he went down.

^^yeah...really...degand never really proved a lot when he was healthy

certainly i think he'd be better than what we have now, but of course that doesn't say much at all

i used to get worked up like everyone else up here, but now i don't. i've been riding this 'state is just praying to beat unc in basketball and football' for some time now. oh well, maybe state will pick up where they left off in 70's one day. all we can really do is wait.

I have NEVER been so embarassed to be an NC STATE fan. Sidney Lowe is on the sidelines joking with a ref while we are losing by 21....

Dude, he wasn't joking. They were having a conversation. Yes, it LOOKED like he was laughing for a minute, but he wasn't. I know exactly what you are talking about. He was worked up during that.

Actually, degand was doing decently and was improving. He was driving more and he could hit an open 3 about 50% of the time. He wasn't spectacular against the press break, but in the half court set he was at least a dual threat every time he got the ball. Also, he moved without the ball much better and faster that our neophytes.

In general, he was just calmer under pressure.

Clemson was gonna win by 10 regardless.... that was going to be a fact - after seeing them play UNC I knew that was going to happen

Having 50% of 3-pointers made in the first half sealed the deal - they really played on hell of a game.

Why? That money doesn't go to Sidney or solely to the bball program. I'm pleased with the direction the football team is going... for instance.

Honestly, I haven't given up on Sid and won't until he at least has a team with all of his players. I think it's ridiculous to fire a coach before giving him 4 full seasons at this level unless there are other misgivings (sanctions, legal matters, etc...), though I am frustrated. I'd change that if we went something drastic like 0-16 or 1-15 of course...

Well, it's like this. When people didn't want a war in Vietnam (or didn't want to fight it), they burned their draft cards, went to Canada, dodged it any way they could I suppose. It was a war at home because of that draft; BECAUSE the people were committed to it in some way they didn't want to be.

I see that as an analogy for someone actually donating their hard earned dollars to something (apparently making it 13th richest in the country), and not seeing anywhere near the results they expect or at least hope for. We may very well be the school that expects the most and gets the least from its athletic programs. But I don't know, I'd have to look at the other teams on that Forbes thing.

On the contrary, you can make the analogy that today's internet poster/fan whatever, may voice his opinion in the same way people talk shit about the war in Iraq? I mean, they have no committment to fight that war/no potential involvement, but still despise it.

I dunno, I'm just all about some activism. Regardless of the situation, if there's enough State fans passionate about something, then put the money where the mouth is. Stop donating, stop going to games, stop buying tickets. I think the administration would take the hint and care more than people just bitching about it on these forums.

I don't know the inner workings of the WPC, so I can't talk about where the money goes. Just making generalizations.

I will not donate to the WPC after I graduate, I will promise you that, because they obviously suck shit at using it to improve the programs.

They bring in more money than at any time at the schools history and the last time we won an ACC title in football was what, 1979?

and basketball was in the late 80s correct?

you are a moron, and the moment this happened i would take off my class ring in embarrassment. ITS COLLEGE SPORTS. NOT PROFESSIONALS, AMATEURS. give me a fucking break. if you want world championships go buy a patriots jersey and move to boston. if you want to support your school and team then shut the hell up and deal with the ups and downs of college athletics.

But isn't the idea of the club to donate money for the athletics department only? Why invest in something you don't believe in, or something going in a direction you don't like?

Look at how shady Ohio State is.

idk much about him...just kinda some of the stuff i catch on here...i think i heard he use to be assistant coach of the pistons...he just doesnt give me the impression of a college coach...idk maybe he just inherited some shitty players or something idk(kinda like that guy did for unc like 5 years ago, dorherty or whatever)

Yeah, D'Oh inherited terrible players

His team was #1 in the country very late in his first season and he basically handed Roy Williams a national championship with his excellent recruiting. He was set up to fail and then scapegoated...

Curle: Lowe Needs to Develop a Mean Streak

Quote :
"Point blank: it’s time now for Sidney to stop playing nice with this team. The time for kid gloves, pats on the back and “atta boys” is over.

During the debacle at Chapel Hill, I thought it a safe assumption on my part that Sidney’s halftime speech was a fire-and-brimstone tirade the likes his team had never seen. A locker-slamming, clipboard-throwing, Gatorade tub-tossing spectacle. But when asked about it following the game, Sidney said there was no rant or tirade, and that he only focused on the positives.

It felt like Sidney was avoiding the obvious. It was one of the worst halves of basketball in the history of the State/Carolina series. I wondered what positives could he possibly have focused on that weren’t vastly overshadowed by the glaring negatives.
"

Quote :
"It’s time for Sidney to grow as a college coach in this respect. Play calling and scheming will only take a team so far. He needs to develop the ability to humble a team when it needs humbling. If that means benching the starters for four minutes, a half -- hell, a whole game if that gets the message across -- then so be it. It’s hard to fault a second-year coach new to the college coaching arena for lacking experience in dealing with a fractured team like this, but it’s high time he gets some.

In the pros, he was working with grown men who were professionals fighting every game for their roster spots. These are kids, and without a stern hand to go along with a supporting one, this team will not come together as a group, continue to play for themselves and continue to snipe at one another in the press.
"

Huge game today.

Let's be realistic, we had zero shot of going into CU or UNC and coming out with a win.

Both of the games were hideous to watch but in the end a loss is a loss and those were guaranteed losses.

We would have lost to nearly ANYONE in our first two conference games so its good we got those out of the way early.

The tournament committee always gives a lot of credence to how you finish your last ten games.

If we can get to 9-7 and win our easy first round game we're tourney bound.

I wouldn't consider that a huge success given our talent level but it puts us on track to turn this program around rather than botching the season completely.

Crap i just looked at our remaining schedule.

We'd be lucky to get to 7-9 in conference play.

Ignore my last post it was completely naive.

yeah seriously, had nothing to do with coaching. in fact, lowe did good to switch fells and grant because after the first 3 against grant mcclinton was held without a field goal i think. maybe not completely, but he definitely stopped being a one man team out there.

the quote is taken out of context. the actual quote is:

Quote :
"So, I think the guys like the one you mentioned, and I can't say his name, who committed, he is very athletic and is playing extremely well right now. He is going to get better."

So Sid was actually talking about one of the committed recruits. Who he can legally talk about all he wants.
