If thats the case I don't see the point. It never did any good.

^27-9, they scored a TD with 1:30 left though (admittedly we dropped the easiest TD of the game with 20s left).

^^they were trying to avoid CJ Spiller breaking a big kick return.

^^^ did you watch the kickoffs? Eventually clemson adjusted and you saw what Spiller can do when he gets 10 yards of space.

So they just kicked it to the 30 yard line and saved Clemson the trouble. Kick it 5 yards deep - if they "break a big one" we might stop them at about the same spot we were kicking it to them anyway.

no, not true. It's almost impossible to block effectively for a pooch kick. Spiller only needs one or two good blocks to take it back.

had we not gotten that pick 6 or clemson dropped the ball on that fumble, im afraid that would have been 38-6 or worse

^If the good part of our team didn't play well we would've lost by worse, yes.

^^ how do you figure we would've scored six points if we only scored three points?

agree on the pick 6, but that fumble was at least a 10 point swing had clemson kept momentum

and that did not appear to be great d but just luck

AND we had no meaningful turnovers, one fumble or bad pick and thats a 40+ to 6 game

id say that we were in the top 10-20% of outcomes, if we play that game 100 times, we lose 80 or 90 by more than 18

saw some good things from state today even tho we lost. Nate Irving = beast. underwood ran the ball well, and i liked Russell's decision making. clemson is decent but definitely a long way out from being a championship caliber team...terrible lines on both sides of the ball

spiller is scrumtrulescently good.

You're kidding right? Wilson's decisions consist of running out of the pocket immediately and maybe picking up a few yards on the run or throwing the ball to the sidelines. What a joke.

you can't throw down field if no one is open... see Harrison Beck.

TJ Graham said Clemson wasn't as fast as he thought they'd be in his post-game interview. Kinda makes me wonder why he didn't really get open if that was the case.

I know Russell wasn't seeing the field well, but I can't imagine TJ got open that much if he only had 1-2 balls thrown his way.

Well, I feel pretty crappy about our game. But at least we're not UCLA today.

59-0

OUCH!

If we hadn't let them get that garbage TD and the final was 20-9 like it should have been, I honestly would have been really pleased. I mean we were EXPECTED to get blown the fuck out.

maybe to TJ clemson wasn't as fast as he thought they would be. They're still fast though. Our QB and O-line are still shitty, no matter how open our WR's would get

Probably already posted but T.J. Graham's quote after the game is pretty telling of why we need to redshirt most freshman.

Quote :
"He was asked if it took too long for N.C. State to establish a downfield threat on offense.

"I don't really know," said Graham, who led the Wolfpack with 138 all-purpose yards. "I don't really understand a lot of things. I just do as I'm told.""

i don't like red-shirting anyone unless it is b/c of an injury.

just keep recruiting guys to replace the other guys once their eligibility runs out...

i'd have much rather been blown out and actually score a little on offense than do what we did, which was keep it close but for no real reason b/c we can't get in the endzone.

^but I'm confused, wouldn't that mean we'd have to score on offense?

we did well, it SHOULD have been 27-13.

you do understand the purpose of red-shirting players right? if not, i'm glad you don't run a program.

^^ i'm not sure how to make that more clear.

our defense played well. our offense scored three points.

i would rather our offense score more than three points.

I just don't buy that NO one was ever open everything Wilson would scramble. There were times when you would get the camara shot from beind Russel as he bailed and could see someone downfield with their hand up. He has to get into a rythm throwing the ball...I appreciate the lack of interceptions but you have to let the ball go and he has to learn how to throw a deep ball. Plays with a three step drop mean routes are designed for recievers to be open or about to be open when that back foot lands on the third step. The only time I saw him throw in rythm to the play was the completion over the middle.

I think I saw him throw 1 or 2 against Clemson then 1 against SC, all were terribly thrown balls.

the one intercepted by clemson at the goalline should be attributed to the receiver, the dback made an incredible play on the ball, but had the receiver haden't hesitated on the route, he would've had the advantage there.

we bitch at Daniel Evans for throwing interceptions, now we bitch at Russell Wilson for not throwing interceptions.

You kidding? He threw into double coverage and put the ball in the worst spot possible. The corner had inside position over the top with saftey help underneath leaving the sideline wide open. That ball should have been thrown to the outside of the reciever at the front pylon where the reciever had a chance to make a play instead of leading him back across the middle into the saftey coverage.

We bitch about anyone throwing interceptions and we bitch at Russell Wilson for not throwing the ball. You can throw the ball without throwing an interception...but in reality they are about the same thing. You are going to score just as many points by not throwing the ball as you are by throwing interceptions.

I think it's a combination of being inexperienced and struggling to read coverages on top of knowing that pressure is coming and not being able to keep his eyes looking downfield

yep yep yep.

right now we're playing to not get blown out with no real thought of winning, and it's annoying.

there could be an inverse effect between the number of Wolfpack losses and Panther wins

but then Panthers would get home field advantage
