I don't know if many people have had it but fullsteam brewey in durham makes one of the best beers i've ever had. Its meant to be eaten with bbq and tastes like hickory smoke

Also, the beers stored in wiskey barrels is also amazing

Yeah harvest time is in stores around raleigh but seems to be selling out quite fast. If you like big boss I suggest this beer as well, it is delicious....

The barrel-aged Yeti is on sale (limited to 470 bottles, 2 per person)
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/great-divide-barrel-aged-yeti/93977/

Quote :
"Barrel Aged Yeti Imperial Stout has been aged for 20 months in used barrels from Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey"

Stranahans, for those whiskey drinkers out there, won small-batch distillery of the year award last year (it's pretty amazing stuff! ~$50/bottle Also in Denver)

Going to swing by and pick up my 2 today

Actually it might be the Barrel-Aged Hibernation (same barrels)

Aren't the barrel aged GD beers like $30 a bottle? Way too much IMO, especially when you can get the oak aged varieties for $10

Moderation. If I went out and pounded these high alcohol/calorie beers I'd blow up. When I'm binging, which is really quite rare these days for me, I do shit light beer like Miller or Coors.

I found the Fullsteam beers to be a huge let down. The Basil one I liked, but the other ones that were on sample I just couldn't get in to. The one you're talking about was paired with the BBQ, but it just didn't do it for me.

** Am I the only one who doesn't like the Pumpkin Ales? I'm a much bigger fan of the Marzen/Oktoberfest seasonals than anything else.

^^yes, $25/bottle, but i'm a big fan of Stranahans and it's just expensive because of the limited quantity.

I buy 3-4 special beers at a time and spread them out over 1-2 weeks. I probably only drink a beer once every other night or so. I don't drink cheap beer for the heck of it anymore. Now that you can get Avery in cans, I do that whenever I go to the park or go camping. I just don't enjoy the taste of cheap beer and the 3.2% doesn't hardly seem worth it. I'd rather drink cheap wine than cheap beer.

The Piraat was seriously tasty stuff. Def one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

The Dogfish Punkin Ale is far and away the best Pumpkin/Fall seasonal I've ever had. Going back to my local shop to buy everything they've got.

I wasn't that impressed with the Dogfish Head Punk! this year. I'm currently sipping on the Heavy Seas Greater Pumpkin (aged in bourbon barrels), and it's amazing!

^^^it's a lot better than their regular "great pumpkin." I was also disappointed with that one, but Heavy Seas usually makes good stuff, so I gave this one a shot... glad i did.

Yanks start their first playoff game tonight. I can't think of a better way to start this off than with a nice tall bottle of Ommegang Hennepin by my side...

Enjoyed these last night. The Baltic Porter had a great smokey-meaty nose, but seemed flat out of the keg. Bottle may be better. The nose had a jerky flavor but that didn't impose on the taste at all. A tad more carbonation and it would have been great.

The san diego session ale is a low ABV IPA and was very refreshing. Definitely a drinkable IPA with a fresh nose and smooth finish
