Also 17 goals allowed in the last 4 games.
Also the number of a player who should hang up his skates before he further tarnishes his great legacy. Or, at the very least, pass on the captaincy.

I propose this, without looking at what is going on at all....
Cole to LA for Scuderi... they're pretty good on D and could use a power forward
Mike Murphy to Edmonton for Dustin Penner and a 5th.... Jeff Deslauriers?? Yea, Khabi is olllllllddddd
Scuderi is what we thought we would get out of Alberts or at least Kostopoulos, clearly not working and neither have much in the way of playoff experience
Dustin Penner was a solid guy in Anaheim and he is doing great in EDM, which has noooo future in net at this point
thoughts???? JR are you there? 11/7/2009 1:51:35 AM |

Scuderi is fucking overpaid and not nearly as good as people think. No way we'd take on his salary.
Win a Stanley Cup, and all of the sudden you're an incredible player.

a two goal deficit for the canes is like a seven goal deficit for most teams
which is crazy given the canes history, 6 months ago i would have had no doubt that they'd tie it up 11/7/2009 9:03:32 PM |

Steve Mason called Cam out as well in the postgame for not wearing knee pads.
This is just one more not so gentle reminder to JR that he better drop any delusions he has of making the playoffs and commit to the tank. 11/8/2009 9:53:33 AM |

Ward to stay in hospital; Canes mull options Submitted by chipalexander on 11/08/2009 - 10:50 Tags: Canes Now | Cam Ward | Jim Rutherford
Canes general manager Jim Rutherford said today that goaltender Cam Ward would remain at a Columbus, Ohio, hospital another day and that the team may look to trade or sign another goaltender.
Ward suffered a laceration of the left leg in the first period of the Canes' 3-2 loss at Columbus on Saturday and was taken to Riverside Hospital.
"We'll have to see how it goes," Rutherford said today of Ward's injury and recovery time. "It appears it will be a fairly long period of time."

I am actually beginning to truly believe for the first time that we might really get Taylor Hall.

They're bulky and uncomfortable, and if you keep your pads in position, the chance of a puck hitting the knee is slim to none. Even the best solution (Luongo's) is relatively obtrusive.
Not sure of any other NHL goalies who don't wear knee protection, but I'm looking through pics to see if I can find some.11/8/2009 5:39:11 PM |

Nothing, he's a free agent.
This says two things to me: 1. The front office is delusional and thinks we can win games. 2. The front office has zero confidence that Peters is capable of playing in the NHL.] 11/9/2009 9:08:38 AM |

I think it's #2, but it's not just confidence in him, but doing what is right for his future and Mike Murphy's future. Everything I've heard from Albany indicates that Murphy is not ready to carry the load down there. 11/9/2009 9:26:20 AM |
Sweden All American 12295 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, I didn't even factor in Murphy's development being affected by Peters leaving. I assumed he could carry the load in Albany and they'd just sign somebody to a PTO as the backup or callup the ECHL guy. Once the hole in goaltending gets to the ECHL who really gives a shit, just stack a few cinder blocks back there if the #1 guy goes down.
Supposedly this is getting done for cheap and I don't see Legace being the savior and leading us out of the basement, so our #1 overall dreams are still alive.] 11/9/2009 9:29:03 AM |
