If you haven't watched "Dollhouse" (TV series, not a movie) we just finished the series and it was pretty enjoyable. Both seasons are available on Instant.

Quite possibly the very worst movie I have ever seen, and I've sat through some Keanu Reeves movies. I thought there was a nugget of hope with the Jon Benet Ramsey joke but after the 3rd time hearing it in the same screening my dreams were smashed

In the Vice Guide episode, there's a scene where the main guy is acting a fool in the shop where he plays pool with the girl that works there. He says something goofy as he's leaving and the girl grins and waves to him. It creeped me the hell out because right after he leaves, you see her quickly glance to her left (off camera) to, I'm assuming, the minders. I can only imagine that she did/said something that could potentially get her into deep shit and she knew it..

Hey has anybody seen this shit?

http://instantwatcher.com/titles/expiring

So the story is that instantwatcher is the site you go to when you want to see what is expiring on Netflix Watch Instant. And apparently a bunch of great shows are getting dumped come April 1st. The link shows them but a few include: The X-Files, Firefly, Dollhouse, My Name is Earl, Buffy, 24, Arrested Development, Angel, Bones, The IT Crowd, Better Off Ted, King of the Hill, Roswell, and Prison Break. WTF?!? I am currently going through My Name is Earl, and watched all of AD, and a couple others through Watch Instant. This will be a big hit in my list and would be something to consider in keeping Netflix.

Somebody did suggest that with testing for mega-packs that perhaps instead of having all these shows listed by 14 different seasons they will have them combined into one big fucking series and then you could just go right down the list and watch them all. I fucked up and am in the middle of season 3 of Weeds, and accidentally clicked on the Season 4 that it was suggesting I watch and caught the first few seconds where it recapped some shit I had not seen. So if it could eliminate shit like that, then I would approve. Otherwise this blows, and will just send me back to the torrents.

^No shit. Might point is, some of these are hugely popular shows. I understand if it is some shit show that went one season and has no demand. But these are great shows, and if Netflix is providing whole catalogs of shows to watch on Watch Instantly and promoting the shit out of it, then they better not be surprised when people get the rug pulled out from under them when they take a big series away with no notice. I am in the middle of season 1 right now of Earl. So I guess I'm just fucked until they get around to it, or I have to rent the disc? Fuck no, I am never doing any TV show on DVD or Blu again.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

No X-files, no King of the Hill and getting rid of a bunch of MST3K... might as well cancel my account.

EDIT: and i thought it was Netflix's goal to eventually go all streaming (no dvds). how the heck do they expect to do that if they can't keep these shows? am i wrong here?

wait, wait, wait... if this is what i'm thinking now, it's not really a big deal.
they have already done this with some shows. Psych, for instance shows 1 box set (season 3's i think) and then has 60 or so episodes with it. you can still watch all the episodes, they are just consolidated in one spot.

It's good to have on in the background if you're hanging out drinking. It's an interesting take on a zombie's perspective, but the acting and production value is awful.

If you'll watch anything with zombies, it's entertaining.. but don't take it seriously

Overall it is a very bad movie, but I'm ok with watching bad movies sometimes

started the wild and wonderful whites of WV....really like it so far!!!!!!!!!

also...this is kinda relevant...does anyone have a roku?

and can someone explain why one would purchase a roku over a bluray player that streams netflix etc?!

thanks!!! i'm going to end up purchasing one when i move (because likely giving up cable), but i just don't really know why you'd chose a roku over a blu ray player.

^^^ I'm pretty sure a Roku is just a streaming device that is fairly inexpensive (they start at around $60). - geared toward people who don't have a 360, ps3, newer tv, etc. The starting price point is around that of a low-end bluray player.

With prices of bluray players coming down, plus the popularity of other devices that can be hooked up to a network, those features being included with more multi-purpose devices, etc., I can't imagine Roku sticking it out over the long haul.

I may be wrong, I don't actually have one. But that's my understanding.

^ twas my understanding also

yea the cheap one is like $60 and then the nicest is $100 so i mean...the difference between that and a blu ray isn't that much really....i guess if you don't have a nice tv, you get the roku.

thanks! just wanted to make sure i had the right understanding.

the netflix implementation on tv's and other devices is hit or miss, its pretty terrible on my buddies tv and i've read equal complaints with some of the blu-ray players.

so it is better or worse on the roku??

i have (well access to) a samsung blu ray player right now and netflix works fine with it...never any problems

i agree it kinda sucks on the wii (only other experience streaming it outside of a laptop is on the wii)...but it has still worked for me. the quality is pretty awful though. and the whole set up (finding shit to watch) is super annoying/not that easy to use.

but i'm definitely going to be purchasing something in the future when i lose access to the blu ray i have now...just contemplating the options! i'm probably giving up cable...or at least all but basic cable...so having something that can stream is important. i already use netflix a lot as it is.

yeah, ^^ is right. The streaming stuff is a secondary function on a lot of those devices. So some are going to be better than others. In theory, a streaming box like Roku (there are other companies that make them) should be a safer bet since that's what they're intended to do.

You could look at an Apple TV. They're like $99. I think they only do 720 though (which is still HD and fine on most TVs). In addition to netflix, you'll also get direct access to iTunes and be able to buy/rent stuff from there directly.

Personally, I use an xbox360 to stream netflix to my TV and for the most part, it works great. Fairly easy to search for movies, access my queue, see recommendations, and it's 1080.
