ive had high expectations before, as most of us do before every season, but this has to be the worst we have sucked relative to expectations that i can remember in my mind since I was 4 or 5 and can remember football.

here's my two cents. our defense is awful, and we got exposed by wake forest. our inability to switch up the defense is appalling. tommy o' will probably get rid of archer at seasons end, just to save his own job.

but what really surprises me is how anemic our offense has become. last year, we could stay in games because teams didn't know how to deal with wilson scrambling around creating time. but now, teams are ready for him, and contain him. i'd hate to say it, but these past few games, he's looked mediocre at best. defenses are taking away the field from him, and are keeping him in the pocket. for all of his strengths, wilson is not a pinpoint accurate qb. defenses seem to be taking away the short pass from him, and making him trust his arm more than he should, which lead to takeaways. if we had a stronger running game, we wouldn't have to rely on him too much, but we cough up the ball on the ground, too. so...my solution: drink more.

Anyone noticed how we do not call ANY time outs to adjust or calm our defense down?

We save them all. Which basically means the coaching staff doesnt want to adjust our defense during the game. Which means they think its the best defense for us to run or its the only defense we can run.

Our defense is terrible our offense is competitive (could have won any of the games we played given a competent defense). I think for the rest of the season as soon as we get the ball we should go for it on every fourth down and onside kick for every kickoff. The other team is going to score regardless of field position so why not?

^We are forced into playing catchup so much that we can't even run the ball (we are trying to extend games so we don't want to run the clock out) If we could even begin to play a balanced game our offense would look much better. As it is it has put up enough points to stay competitive if our defense was any good.

Third down conversions don't mean a whole lot because oftentimes if you are really moving well you never even see a third down. That happened to us during the first half of the duke game. We barely even played a 3rd down.
