Great. What happened to spring? Seems like the last several years we've jumped straight from winter weather to 90 degree highs with all of 3 or 4 days transition between.

^, ^^ I don't know what the heck I was looking at. Yes, there will be a ridge building in, but North Carolina will mostly be seeing winds from the north, therefore, cooler temperatures. Need to stick to forecasting OK and not confusing the two. Heck, even we won't be seeing near record temps.
Sorry for the confusion 4/8/2010 12:46:38 PM |

^^^according to the airport it has hit 90° only once in the last week. The rest of the time its been in the 80s, and only one day had record warmth.
Apparently this phenomena of a hot spell after a cold winter is nothing new. See attached link for explanation:

our weatherguy just sent this out
Quote : | "It appears that we will finally see some rain to hopefully wash away some of the record breaking pollen we have been seeing lately. A cold front will be passing through central NC this evening and with that, rain and the possibility for a few severe storms will also come. Scattered showers or thunderstorms will be possible ahead of this system around 4 or 5 pm, but the best chance for storms will come late tonight into early tomorrow morning. Damaging winds and hail should be the only concerns of severe weather with this system. The chance for isolated tornadoes seems to be very small. The rain should be out of the area by about 3 or 4 AM tomorrow morning. Most models suggest around 0.5’’ to 0.75’’ of rain, with more possible under strong storms. " |

We had nearly 2" of rain as per radar estimates last night. Missed out on the severe but it was nice to see the pollen washed away. 4/9/2010 10:14:56 AM |
