The first tobacco products I was exposed to were cigars and pipe tobacco. These actually taste pretty good.

When I smoked cigarettes it was stuff like Nat Shermans as opposed to Marlboro, or whatever. Stuff with more tobacco in it, less crap added in. Those don't taste bad by any stretch of the imagination.

It's like wondering why people like beer by pointing to shit like Old English and Iron City. The answer is that there's much better stuff out there.

Coffee is the same; takes a bit of time to develop taste for it. At first you learn to appreciate it for the caffeine. Drinking alcohol is similar too ... I remember when I was younger I didn't like whiskey but now scotch and bourbon are practically all I drink.

So, should we ban private businesses from playing damage-causing loud music?...and I'm not talking about the music escaping to other adjacent or nearby properties. Assuming the music is contained and/or controlled so that only those customers that choose to enter and stay in the building are exposed to the damaging levels of noise, aren't these people still being harmed? In those cases, the issues isn't whether someone nearby is actually being bothered and complains, but that the noise is loud enough that someone nearby could be bothered. I'm asking about scenarios where little or no noise escapes at all. The only people exposed to the noise are inside the building because they choose to be there.
