Lol i like how abc 11 misspelled Lindsey's name the first time but fixed it and only it on their revision a few mins ago.

The one thing I don't like is that the WCSD deputies will not state that they are working on behalf of the University, or their affiliation thereof, and yet request documents which are issued by and are property of the University (student ID). Driver's license would be fair game, but they want proof of affiliation with the University. Isn't this a publicly funded University by the State of North Carolina being paid funds from the treasury which are collected from the tax paying citizens?I think the appropriate response would have been a little more low-key than it is.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
5/7/2010 11:46:47 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAgood stuff
5/7/2010 11:51:01 PM
key word is peaceablya bunch of college students who just finished exams aren't the most peaceably assembling bunch of people, amirite]
5/7/2010 11:54:03 PM
No police on campus now...
5/7/2010 11:59:52 PM
^^So it's acceptable to profile a minority group that may or may not exercise their first ammendment right to assemble peacefully on a land grant university based on a facebook post? Tonight was just a waste of law enforcement resources.
5/8/2010 12:05:48 AM
Don't be fooled - Police are still there on bikes and in cars.
5/8/2010 12:11:56 AM
Just saw on someone's FB status that 12 students received citations for license plate covers with the North Carolina covered up by the frame pursuant to the new statute....
5/8/2010 12:13:29 AM
a peaceful assembly would have had the proper security to ensure that all persons and properties were safe, not a ragtag group of drunken idiots gathering for no real purpose other than to "take over raleigh" as they put it
5/8/2010 12:13:31 AM
a waste of resources made necessary by the thousands of people who said they were going on facebook. there are ways provided to students to facilitate assembly. permits and such allow for planning before the event. the creators of the group chose not to go that route.
5/8/2010 12:13:59 AM
^, ^^ thisi'm glad a few people understand what I'm trying to say]
5/8/2010 12:20:23 AM
Is it really a freedom if you have to ask permission?
5/8/2010 12:24:09 AM
its a college campus, not a public plaza. there are rules and regulations in place
5/8/2010 12:26:53 AM
if its not your property...then yes
5/8/2010 12:27:31 AM
Do a thousand people have the right to walk down a major street, blocking off roads used by ambulances, firetrucks and police cars responding to emergencies? That's what happened last time. Luckily there were no serious incidents caused by that. Permits allow people to make arrangements to accommodate more people, changes in traffic patterns or whatever they may need to do and not just for safety, I'm only using that as an example.
5/8/2010 12:31:28 AM
Looks like a public street to me.A thousand people have the right to do whatever they want, because there's a thousand of them. Democracy = mob rule of the majority. Why do you hate america?[Edited on May 8, 2010 at 12:33 AM. Reason : .]

LO FUCKING Lsee how far that school of thought gets you in the real world. my guess is a jail cell and 3 square meals a day [Edited on May 8, 2010 at 12:37 AM. Reason : democracy != mob rule]
5/8/2010 12:36:13 AM
that street is owned by the city, they let you use it
5/8/2010 12:36:25 AM
The land your house is on is owned by the state, they let you lease it.

So the real riot is tomorrow night, right?Fun fact: The Kent state massacre and the nation wide college paralysis that took place in the weeks afterward resulted in no criminal charges against the murderers, nor an end to Vietnam. But it did result in colleges ending their semesters earlier to prevent the shenanigans that come with the summer heat.[Edited on May 8, 2010 at 12:46 AM. Reason : .]

5/8/2010 1:04:57 AM
They track telephones, no warrants required. The cell phone companies have nifty little websites for them. They type in your number and your current position pops up on a map.
5/8/2010 1:06:59 AM
5/8/2010 1:23:51 AM
maybe they were authorized specifically for tonight
5/8/2010 1:26:24 AM
I would say they were, but they WOULD NOT SAY THAT.
5/8/2010 1:27:20 AM

5/8/2010 2:36:58 AM
Wake e county sheriffs wouldn't let me past the roundabout at watauga even though I was picking someone up thatlives in watauga

would have been a shitty night for a non-student, concealed carrying driver that drove up pullen. holy shit those LEOs would've creamed their pants
5/8/2010 3:05:33 PM
I'm more worried that they may have been less than truthful to the news media about their "seatbelt check".]
5/8/2010 3:09:44 PM
lol, they were much less than truthful. The purpose of the checkpoints were clear.

I hacked it, remember? Also, wlfpackgrl: How many variations of "Wolfpack girl" did you have to try before you finally hit one that wasn't already registered? And how many more attempts would you have made if "wlfpackgrl" had been taken? Just how much are you willing to mangle the words to preserve that core concept?[Edited on May 8, 2010 at 6:08 PM. Facebook is now considered a chatroom?
5/9/2010 12:09:47 AM
^ thats what my thought was
5/9/2010 1:16:37 AM
the old folks don't know the difference between chat room and message boardthen again...a chat room pretty much is a message board that just operates at a faster pace
5/9/2010 2:19:11 AM
