It’s not hard to imagine a system that is light years more humane than our current (even excluding family separation, there is plenty of other legacy stuff that is fucked up), while still providing decent vetting and some control on numbers.

We aren't in that future world quite yet and UBI is increasingly being seen as a way for conservatives to strip other benefits.

I have mixed feelings about it, tbh.

I'm glad to see someone young fighting for progressive, sensible values, but I also worry this is going to cause the Left to completely rip itself apart, and ultimately leaving the GOP in an even stronger position than it is now.

If this is going to be the beginning of an ugly schism between the hard left and the moderate left, I am deeply worried about how easily the GOP can fuck things up even more during the infighting.
