^That movie freaked me out as a kid

The Foreigner (oldish Jackie Chan, Netflix) and Monkey Man (new Dev Patel, Peacock) are both pretty good turn your brain off action movies. Both want to have deep plots but they don't really hit and have some weird unnecessary points that don't close.

^^ other than a reference to Dorothy in the opening scene, there’s no need to know anything about the original to be able to enjoy it

it is a bit violent, though

I thought Ghostbuster: Frozen Empire was not very good (I liked Afterlife that came out a few years ago)

^I finally got around to seeing it this past weekend. Unfortunately wasn't able to avoid some of the bigger spoilers, but I did enjoy the cameos. I thought the Deadpool trilogy as a whole are probably the funniest superhero movies ever made.

It just dawned on me how devastating it must have been for Lt. Dan loosing his legs, seeing the importance he placed on socks to Forrest and Bubba when they first met.

Well, yeah. It looked like dog crap in the trailer, which these days shows what they think are the best parts of any movie. The highlight was the guy who kind of looked like Chevy Chase.

Just watched Gladiator 2. Spoilers below.

How tf is this kid the son of Maximus? The kid was about the same age as his son (the one that was killed with his wife). Meaning that either he impregnated Commodus' sister then immediately met/married/impregnated his wife OR he cheated on his wife. Which isn't exactly in character for Mr. Strength and Honor, who for the first part of the first movie was just trying to get back to his family.

Discussion of spoilers below

I haven't seen 2nd one, but don't care about spoilers anyways. I always felt like him and her hooked up. Just the way she had a kid and no husband to speak of. Perhaps in first one they addressed that and I forgot about it? The scene in the first one where he is chained up and she comes to see him she gets all close to him sexy like and its almost in a manner like they had something together back in the day. Honestly i just always assumed her kid was from Maximus, like since the first movie came out

Spoilers continued for Gladiator 2

^ They do very briefly mention some stuff about her husband that everyone thought was the kid's father. The explanation is that it was an arranged marriage and that her husband was actually gay, so he didn't mind that she sought the company of men elsewhere, including Maximus. Heavily implied that her and Maximus had a thing before she got married. Which that in itself is not really an issue -- moreso the timing of Maximus' relationship with her vs. his wife.

Zeroville is one of the absolute worst movies i have ever seen. And not bad in an entertaining way. Just bad. No redeeming qualities.

[Edited on December 20, 2024 at 12:35 PM. Reason : James Franco might be the worst director of all time]

Gladiator II was straight up awful overall. The script was horrific as was the acting. Denzel brought Training Day to ancient Rome.
