when i was in Vienna, Austria in May, all the girls were doing this. they were wearing shorts (mostly denim cut off) with tights and then combat-ish boots. i felt like i walked into a nirvana music video.

lol you are crazy. i'll probably rock my jean shorts post labor day

i think they're fine for sept/oct while it is still warm, with a cardigan and closed toed shoes (i'd do converse or some type of mary jane/ballet flat):

i def think the tights w/ shorts (denim or other) works well on models and celebs (mostly the uber skinny ones), but i don't think many regular people could pull it off!!

UGH my free people sept catalog came in the mail today and now i'm lusting after clothes i can't afford. right now (until i get a job) even hautelook and ruelala are out of the question. target is on reserve if i REALLY need something (which is always at target it seems, so i don't go in there anymore). i do have a credit at fab'rik so maybe i can go tomorrow and satisfy my fall fashion craving w/o actually spending MY $$$!

here is a link to the free people catalog...i like almost every outfit in it: http://www.freepeople.com/september-10-catalog/

and here are some of my favs:

looks really cute with a long sleeve shirt underneath and boots

oh a measly $340 boot. but so pretty:

Yeah I got my Anthropologie catalog the other day and finished it with nearly 10 pages tagged

BUT! I just recently found Cafe Fashionista and one of the things I love about that blog is she features the $texas item with a look-a-like cheaper cousin

oh awesome! i'll have to check out the blog.

the other thing is that anthro/urban/free people often have REALLY good sales at the end of seasons...but then it isn't that fun cause you have to hold what you buy for next season. but still, it is kinda satisfying!

and there's always ruelala and hautelook. but until i get a job, no shopping for meeeee

sad panda

I hate looking at Free People (and Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters) because they always have something that I want and can't afford. Like those boots. Oh, to win the lottery.

my modcloth experience: i am super disappointed. that yellow dress was really bright and after walking around in it for a bit i felt pretty foolish. i also realized that the top wasn't exactly tight enough to keep my girls from flopping around, but if i went down a size it would have been too small at the waist. the red one was amazingly cute and if your bust is a 34c or smaller i definitely recommend getting it. unfortunately i'm a 38 and just couldn't quite get the zipper all the way up. i could have gotten a larger dress and had it altered, which i considered doing because it was so damn cute. unfortunately they don't carry the next size up bc i'm a super fatty and nobody in LA is as big as me.

so i have a weird addiction to hair products - mostly because i have naturally unruly thick curls. i went to ulta the other day and picked up some new products and i have to say they're pretty good.

i got the fekkai ironless shampoo, conditioner, and hair serum. holy hell my hair is not only super straight but sooooo soft. plus it helps dry the hair faster with the blowdryer so it takes me less time straightening.

i'll take some pics today

i have to be careful about what kind of products i use and a lot of the "hair straightening" products weigh down my hair so much that it looks greasy after i wash it. but this stuff is awesome. i washed my hair last night and woke up this morning and it was still pin straight. i had to barely touch it up with the flat iron and normally i have to fix the underneath pieces in the morning.

the true test would be a really humid/rainy day because my hair does not hold no matter what under humid conditions.

well ladies, i got the keratin treatment done! i had it done on tuesday and so far i think its really great. imo it looks the same as when i straighten it myself except the difference is that it will just take me less time to get the same look

also, i didnt realize how long my hair had gotten since i haven't had it cut since MARCH so yeah, ignore my dead ends, i am getting a haircut soon and cutting 3 inches or so off

yup. just washed it regularly and then straightened it with the blowdryer and flat iron. i noticed i didn't need to use the flat iron as much and my hair straightened much easier. as it was drying with the blowdryer, it was drying pretty straight.

Oh, for those of you ladies who are interested in Keratin but are deterred by the price point and by the 3-day wait to wash your hair post-treatment, there's a new treatment just for you by the creators of Keratin Complex. It's called Express Blow Out:

Quote :
"The creators of the popular Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy are launching a new express version that is cheaper, faster, and requires much less "downtime" than the original.

Keratin Complex's Express Blow Out is a lighter take on their trademark treatment that leaves hair frizz-free for up to six weeks.

The service can be performed in just one hour instead of three, and our writer who tried the original version will be happy to know that you can shower just eight hours post-treatment instead of the challenging three days you have to hold out for the original. (Her boyfriend wasn't too happy about that.)

And the best part: the Express Blow Out will be about 50 percent cheaper than the original silkifier -- bringing the cost to $100 and up, depending on the area of the country and length and texture of the hair being treated.

Frizz-beleaguered customers who are on a budget have been asking for something like this, says vice president of marketing, Lindsey Soloman.

"We understand that in this economy, not everyone can spend $350 on their hair. We don't want them going down the street and getting some cheap one percent keratin knock-off. This quicker, shorter solution allows us to offer the same results for a lower price point," said Soloman at the New York launch event at Sahag Workshop salon.

Like the original, the express version can be used on any hair type -- including strands that have been permed, color-treated and Japanese-straightened.

Your after-care will determine your results. If you're an athletic type who is showering and washing your hair twice a day, the finish may last three weeks. But most can enjoy silky smooth locks for closer to six weeks.

And according to Soloman, busy moms make up a large percentage of customers.

"It's great for moms who need to be in and out of the bathroom in seven minutes and who do their mascara in the car or on the train. They can also enjoy activities with their kids like going in the pool, without worrying about what their hair is going to look like," said Soloman.

But if you're a fan of the original and its longer three month-long results, have no fear. It will continue to be available.

To find a salon near you that carries the treatment, visit the Keratin Complex website.

And for more frizz-fighting news, check out our before and after pictures with Avon's new Lotus Shield. "

wow, you can't even put your hair in a cap and take a shower for 3 days with the keratin stuff?

do conditioners exist that moisturize (A LOT) AND give volume? like an ultra moisturizing weightless conditioner?

my problem: thin/fine hair that is SUPER DUPER DRY. dry dry dry and tangly as a bone. always. which is odd for thin/fine hair because normally that shit gets greasy. but mine is just dry (i can go several days without washing it and it doesn't get greasy). i have to use a comb in the shower to comb conditioner through my hair, otherwise it will just be a matted mess.

and i use this when i get out:

because i'm so cool. but i need either a leave in conditioner i think or some really moisturizing conditioner for the shower. BUT at the same time, i like my conditioner now because it doesn't weigh down my hair. but it also doesn't help at all with the dry/brittle/tangly mess. i feel like in the store you can have volume OR moisture, not both. THOUGHTS? suggestions?

hautelook is super addicting.

I got this dress for $19 (well, $26 with shipping ) but it was originally $118.... I can't wait to wear it for fall! I'm going to look for a spiced up belt to go with it, and pair it with either my mary janes or boots

hopefully the image works...

btw - I know it seems plain and people may be all "what's so special about that" but you guys have to understand the dress code my program is under... very conservative :\

I've been using tresemme 24-hour body for a while. I think its a good combo of moisturizing and bodifying. detangle your hair before you shower, and if your hair is really dry you can use a little bit of some really heavy conditioner at the tips.
