it annoys the shit out of me that the secretary thinks she knows more about health, wellness, and medicine than anybody in the world....especially doctors


she diagnosed her father with a tapeworm....she was CONVINCED he had a tapeworm...

real diagnosis....stage 4 pancreatic cancer


that's just the most extreme version of what i'm talking about but it's like that with everything

i just said something about getting a flu shot

she said, "i would never get a flu shot...i know entirely too many people who have gotten sick from flu shots"

as the conversation went on it turns out she met ONE woman in the hospital while her dad was there who was having complications after having a flu a shot...but she's HEARD of OH SO MANY who have gotten the flu from their flu shot...

basically she told me maybe i would be one of the lucky ones that DIDN'T get the flu from my flu shot

i mean...i can legitimately say "i would never take prednisone because i know entirely too many people who have died from it"

that would be true because they were all on my mom's side of the family...it turned out to be a genetic aversion to the steroid...so i'm not taking my chances just in case i inherited that gene...

but i would never say, "NOBODY SHOULD EVER TAKE PREDNISONE BECAUSE I'VE KNOWN PEOPLE WHO DIED FROM IT"
