omgosh yall I had to kill time at target while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled.
I tried on a cute dress that I liked...and it fit! ...It was a size 16! (I'm not divulging my old size, except that I could have provided shade to a herd of elephants with it)
Holy crap. You all have NO idea how exciting this is. 9/24/2010 10:07:15 AM |

Also, punchy, love the second chignon! I want to look stylish, sophisticated and mature ... and I think I may look too young with my hair down. So nervous! 9/24/2010 11:05:52 AM |

i don't know what makeup tones to wear for like blush and eye shadow. HALP.
this is my face, obvi. i'm kinda pale. dark hair, super dark eyes, even DARKER eyebrows. and freckles. i just don't know. esp now that fall is coming i want fall-ish colors. i also always have SUPER bright lips naturally. they are just naturally very pink, which is annoying. everyone always asks me what kind of lipstick i'm wearing but i've never worn lipstick in my life!!!!
thoughts? suggestions? i'm about to order new makeup and was just gonna get some tinted moisturizer (that is what i'm out of) but also realized i'm out of blush and hate my eyeshadow right now too. i had been wearing a kind of pinky blush (not in these pics, these are a little older) and olive eyeshadow. but i don't know...i need help.
FACE:
here is a far away picture just so you can see more of my body skin tone (aka pale - ignore the awfulness of the pic, lol):
also, on a different note, how does one style their hair in a chigon? like how do you make one?

I'm pale too and I really love Benefit's Dandelion blush... Also, their new Sugarbomb one is awesome as well. If your lips are always pink and look flushed, Throbbb is also a good option by them. They're expensive, but I swear to you they are worth the money. I don't buy any other blush now, for reals. 9/24/2010 3:42:47 PM |

Nars Orgasm blush is pretty much the most popular high end blush I know of, because it looks great on so many skin tones. I'm pale and freckled and it's what I use almost every day. 9/24/2010 11:08:17 PM |

Does everyone here wear blush? I don't really know much about makeup. What are the general guidelines for picking a good blush? 9/25/2010 12:21:06 AM |
elkaybie All American 39626 Posts user info edit post |
I too use nars orgasm. I pick a blush that works well to compliment and freshen or brighten just slightly my cheeks & cheek bone coloring. I don't go for the drastic glam just cause that's not me.
I'm dark haired, eyed and fair as well...I stick to browns or purples pretty much year round on my eyes; except for in the summer or I may use bronzer or gold tones
I'll use blacks and grays occasionally
I don't stray much out of that box, and it works for me.

I have tried the cheek stain before and have never got it to come out lookin even and natural. However, i love using lipstain. It look natural, stays on significantly longer, an i hard to screw up 9/25/2010 1:01:16 PM |

i love to check in on this thread once in awhile to learn more about how to be a girl. i'm glad you all know so much about makeup because i haven't got a clue. i couldn't even tell you what kind of blush i wear because it's usually whatever my mom buys and decides she doesn't want. and i still put it on the way my dance teacher taught me when i was 8.
ALSO thoughts on this dress?

I think the Holly Aiken purses are super ugly as well...
In any case... Thursday night, I went across the street to get some pizza and found that a Rugged Wearhouse had opened on Glenwood Ave!! That night! It was calling to me.
It's in the same shopping center as Bed, Bath and Beyond... and it was awesome!
I got some NY&Co earrings for $1.99, another namebrand pair for $3.99. A super cute David Yurman lookalike bracelet for $3.99. Lots of Express bracelets for .49 cents each. Some fabulous comfy heels for $7.99 and some ankle boots (grey suede-like wedge with a wraparound belt) for $12.99. I didn't even look at clothes! They also had purses that normally retail for $200 for $69 and I can walk there. Yay! 9/28/2010 11:56:52 AM |

I hardly ever wear makeup, and when I do it's usually only a combination of mascara, powder, and/or blush. I have a lot of really nice makeup (courtesy of my aunt) that I don't use because I'm afraid to look like a fool. Plus like I said, wearing makeup is a rarity, so I don't want people to be like "wtf is up with your face?!"
But on those rare occasions, my favorite blush is called rose cache by Chanel - it looks good whether I'm pale or tan. The other color I use is polka dot by Prescriptives.
And I just got this nail polish (OPI Sparkle-icious):

Hey Ladies,
Thanks for the advice on interview attire! I ended up wearing my hair in a chignon. Grey fitted Calvin Klein suit and red heels with pointed toes. As soon as they met me, the women I interviewed with said, "Oooh! She passes the shoes and handbag test!"
Was rushing this morning and completely forgot my jewelry though. Whoops! 9/28/2010 2:39:53 PM |

nothing to show but I am so happy. got my haircut and its really grown from last year. and I feel its the healthiest its been in years but i got more work to do.
I put my hair up at work all the time wash my hair every other day don't dye it as much. get it cut every 8 weeks. that's really helped even though its been a hit to the pocket. 9/28/2010 11:31:09 PM |

So I was looking at fall trends and realized I have a few pieces in my wardrobe already that fit into the "western wear" look....
How does this look, with the belt? For the record, I hardly ever wear a waist belt (this is actually a regular belt that I just stabbed a hole into ) so I need adviceeee
The picture is a little dark so I tried lightening it up.. but the pants are a maroon color and I plan to wear them with my motorcycle boot (not with my pants tucked in though)
