I'm glad to have him on the beat. Noone else is asking Gott why the hell he has been sunshine and rainbows about our putrid defense all season and only now getting mad about it. The time to get mad was back in early December. Not now, when our season is effectively over. If that gets Gottfried butthurt, then so be it.

IMO gott's reaction is a bit blown out of proportion. I mean, just because this was the first time he showed anger and frustration in his press conference doesn't mean it's the first time he's been angry in the private locker room after a game. Like, it's clearly a strategy coaches use to publicly call their players out and have them use it as motivation to improve. But even if gott's a terrible coach, I'm confident he has expressed his desire for his team to get tougher or play defense defense prior to Sunday. A coach is usually somewhat calculated about what they say to the media, and when they call their players out and demand improvement it's a strategy...

Gott's track record is proof that he is either a bad defensive coach or that he places very little emphasis on defense. Or both. I don't doubt he hollers about defense in practice and in the huddle. But his track record is proof enough that his teams don't play defense. And he's got a long enough track record that it's safe to say it's a reflection on him as a coach, not his personnel.
