Finally starting on an AR "build". Have a BCM upper. Stock. Lower receiver kit. Hand guard. Just need to get a stripped lower now. Looking for an aluminum one <$90-100 locally. Lots of cheap prices online but with FFL fee it's about the same (and most are out of stock). Guy threw in a knockoff eotech and 2 -3 other accessories.

I think so. Just contact the instructor before hand and make sure he's fine with it.

edit: just to be clear, you receive a paper stating you took and passed the course, which is one part of getting your cch permit.

^^we also need to know how much of each you plan to shoot. rounds per month or week or year.

i can already tell you, you're gonna want a good solid single stage to load the .338. start with that and then if you see a need for a progressive for your pistol ammo you can add one later. that's what i did.

I just got my lock-n-load conversion for my Lee Classic Cast and I couldn't be happier. I hate setting up dies and this gets rid of that and switching takes zero time.

Should I add a compensator to the front of my Keltec Sub2k? It'll add weight the end of the barrel, helping reduce muzzle rise, which is probably 2" when I shot it this past week. But will 1.75oz make that much of a difference? It seems like fool's gold and I'm skeptical, but alas I thought I'd ask you folks for your opinions. I'm replacing the front sight and I have the option to include a compensator for $11.

Sub2k is .40S&W. Rounds are equivalent to Speer Gold Dots 165gr HP.

Thoughts?

My exact thoughts exactly. Well the front sight is off (as I thought it would be as it's on the front receiver, crooked ) and it's not easily adjustable. There's one from Red Lion for ~$70 that has really good reviews, is all metal, and easy to adjust

Compensators don't work due to their weight, they work by redirecting gas opposite of the muzzle rise. I've never seen the one you're talking about, but for $11 I'd try it. It couldn't hurt and if you don't like it you can take it off.

This is the sight/comp i'm looking at. It's one piece, so it's not like I can just "drop the comp" if I don't like it and keep the sight. For $11 price difference with vs without, it can't hurt. I'll give it a shot.

The compensator will probably help a little bit. It probably won't eliminate muzzle rise because the pressure of a 40s&w is probably low by the time it gets to the end of a 16" barrel. I don't think it's worth getting for practical purposes unless you want to shave fractions of seconds off of your shot times. If you think it looks cool then that's all the justification you need. I personally wouldn't put one on a sub 2000 simply because it'd stick out when the gun is folded. If you do get the comp and don't like it it's a simple hack saw and file job to turn it into the comp-less version.

The recognition of civil rights for blacks and other minorities meant that the Constitution applied to minorities. This meant that blacks and other minorities could exercise their natural right to self-defense, with the full support of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution and Article I, Sec. 30 of the North Carolina Constitution. Others implement ridiculous, intrusive requirements that either discriminate on a wholesale basis or are selectively applied so that discrimination can be more personalized. With the advent of the National Instant Check System (NICS) there is no public safety reason why the Pistol Purchase Permit system needs to continue. The Jim Crow era is over, and the laws of that era need to be eliminated. Most people agree with that in principle, but for some reason when it comes to guns a significant number of people seem to think that discrimination and arbitrary requirements are a good thing. In all seriousness though, just go to your local Sheriff's office and get a pistol purchase permit. You'll fill out a little form and they will notify you when its been processed.

In rural NC this takes a couple days.

Then you go pick up the actual permit and pay them $5.

Then you take this with you to whatever gun shop and buy your handgun. They will take it away from you; you can't use a permit more than once.

^i've argued that limited gun control is necessary, I recognize that guns are designed to kill and kill people more efficiently than most other weapons (knives, bats, etc).
