To play box and one don't you need a really good defender to follow the other team's best player? Who would be our good defender? Markell Johnson?

Really just need a good Athlete. You should essentially face guard and deny the one the ball. If he gets the ball the zone can shift and help.

according to KenPom our Defense is ranked 199.

Of Power 5 Conferences + Big East, we have the fifth worst defense behind 11-11 WSU, 10-13 ASU (lol), 9-13 Washington, and 4-19 Oregon State.

Not making the NCAAT with this roster is a joke. No depth excuses. No injury excuses. The ACC is tough this year sure but 10 teams will get in and no reason to have not been one.

I've been a Gott supporter, but you got I got to call a spade a spade. Absolutely no excuses for missing out the NCAAT this year. The ACC is brutal, but somethings are inexcusable regardless. Losing to either BC or GT is acceptable, but both is not. Good wins over VT and Duke, but outside of that we're getting crushed in the ACC with a roster full of good players. Oh and how many teams we allowed to score 100 on us? Probably will happen at least once more before the season if over.

The bad thing is it didn't seem to me like it was the defense that killed us today, now the offense sucked in the 2nd half. Things were flowing good in the first half and then in the second everyone just stood around and made Dennis Smith do everything. And I am so sick and tired of every game one or two guys on the other team setting new career highs. He'll the one guy whose name I can't pronounce averages under 4 points and had over 15 on us??

Offense and defense is bad. If this team cant make 3s of long jumpers all game long then they're lost. In the 2nd half DSJ drove to the basket with literally 4 Miami defenders on him and not one State player in sight. He needs more teammates to step up but they seem timid. He has a bright future in the NBA where it really counts.

In the first half we were doing a good job of getting Abu and Yurtseven the ball in the high post and actually running an offense. In the second half they both disappeared and just sat down low.

My friend who told me the likelihood of the washington and martin twins transfers months before it happened (with proof on tww for both) told me that Gott has completely lost the lockerroom and that players are beefing with dsj. Also mentions if we were to make any non-ncaat tourney, dsj wouldnt play.

Take it all for what its worth. His family is considered "in the know". I told him that I'd talk about it online, he said he didnt care at this point.

I haven't thought dennis smith jr. was being selfish so if that is true maybe it is off the court issues. I mean two games ago he had how many assists? And even though in the 2nd half last game it was all him, I didn't really see anyone else getting open.

My theory is that in order to seal the deal with DSJ he had to agree to certain team rules. This agreement was written in stone.

1. Defense is not cool
2. Do not hate on the players (specifically DSJ)
3. Do not play anyone that DSJ doesn't like on the floor (Kapita)
4. If the other team is trying too hard, we'll take the day off
5. That's it

Instead of playing in the CBI, hopefully we are finishing a deal with Archie. Seriously. He makes $694,000 a year. We offer him $2 million to coach at his alma mater in the ACC and he will say no? I'm having trouble seeing why he wouldn't come.

Wouldn't surprise me although even if DSJ walked into the locker room and acted like Terrell Owens it has nothing to do with the rebounding (or lack of) of our bigs which is abysmal along with every other aspect of our defense. If I were DSJ I would have left the team to get ready for the NBA after the Wake game when we knew there was a <5% chance of making the ncaaT having given up games at home to two of the non top 8 ACC teams. He has everything to lose and nothing to gain and given his prior injury and the great film he already has out there
