UB software makes me angry.
Is there any way to turn off the pop ups that appear when u first sit down at the table? Also, I can't ever take any notes on people or type in the chat without another table popping up and then i have to click back onto the note box. Is there a way to work around that? 6/6/2007 8:40:57 PM |

^^^ The pop ups are annoying but not that huge of a deal. Typing while you have 4+ tables of UB going with PT is virtually impossible. I don't care about the chat, but I have devised a system for taking notes. I spend quite a bit of time playing back hands from regulars and take detailed notes in PT. When I have something new to put with that player I add them to my buddylist on UltimateBuddy, and I just keep that and PT open pretty much always. Whenever I'm not playing and I see an opponent is online via ultimate buddy I copy/paste the notes I took and delete them from my buddy list, it takes all of 5 seconds.
I find this method of note taking much more effective than writing "chk/minraises set on flop" when I see them do that once. I can pick on some more meaningful tendencies if I review a number of hands from the thousands of hands I've collected on any given regular/semi-regular. I spend an hour or so every week writing notes and studying tendencies in PT. Mostly I just want to know how fast they're playing their big hands and medium strength hands, and in what sort of situations(if any) they will make big bluffs.

Borgota Summer Open event #7 on Mon, June 18.
Any of you AC guys could help me out here; per the website it says registration for any main events will be the previous Monday and it has to be in person. Any way around that? I was just thinking of taking a long weekend and coming up and registering when I got there, is that even possible? 6/7/2007 10:09:42 AM |

Tuesday I was at work for 11 hrs, when I got off I called my buddy and asked him what he was up to (I wanted to drink). He said that he was about to start a poker game (10$ buy-in pretty much winner takes all, unless 10+ buy-ins). I brought my vodka over and went to town. All 6 buy-in twice (so 2nd gets 20) and it's down to three and we're all about even. AAA hit's the flop, I check, 2nd to act bets 2, dealer calls, and so do I. The turn comes a K and I check again, 2, fold, I raise 4 more, he goes all in with his K 10, I show him my A 6. Then I just leaned on the other untill I won.
I continue drinking (and other things) until I get a call at 1 from my bartender asking me if I want in, "sure if you can pick me up" This is a 20$ buy-in game. my bartender buys in twice with his own money (normally a great player), borrows 70 from me, and before the end of the night puts an 80 dollar IOU in the pot, and then goes out again. I cash out with 180 (had 20 at the start of the night) and he still owes me 70.
I fell asleep about 8:30. so that was 11 hrs of work (in which I made about 100 bucks before taxes) and 13 hrs of poker and drinking in which I made 230 dollars

there's aways major waits a few hours prior,
if you're playing the night before, be sure to register then.
it'll be an off time (esp. if you go at like 11pm...) and you'll just walk right up
you'll have to have a my borgata card to register, so if there is a line, dont wait in it and not have a card, and have to go get one made.
that'd suck.
ok im out.
im tempted to pull a borgata shuffle tonight.

flop comes 10 4 2 rainbow. Dude checks and I go all in because I know he didnt want any of that. He calls w/ A 6 suited and has about the same about of chips as I do. Turn and river are both 6's. Fucking shoot me 6/10/2007 1:15:31 AM |

I'll be coming up to AC late Fri night (googles says 9 hour drive from Winston-Salem). Doubt i'll be playing in the Monday event, can't get off work. Got a hand from a cash game a while back that I've been stewing over for a while now. Here's the details:
Cash game, semi-serious group (no ringers). It's a $60 max buy-in, 25/50 cent blinds, with about 10 players. I get in for the max and sit down in the big blind (or close to it). I've got my $60 buy-in and have had a chance to survey the table. The UTG is a drunk asian who's playing loose and generally annoying people. I get the distinct impression that he's there for one reason - dump his chips to everyone else. I later found out he was down $100 at the time. The rest of the table is a mix of tight-aggressive and loose-aggressive players whom I know and have played with before. The button in particular is a slightly tighter player who doesn't bluff much. He's not a rock, but he's close to it.
So, cards are dealt and drunken asian pops it up to $4. You can see the lack of respect as 4 people call him. Then it gets to the button (Tight man). Tight man goes in the tank and eventually raises to..... $8. Min raise. What... the... fuck...
So the small blind folds and I look at mine - Big slick (unsuited). I've got 5 other players in the hand, including the drunken asian and Tight Man who probably has a good hand. I figure I have 3 options:
1) Fold - You're in bad position with too many players. Plus Tight Man has a hand, so let this one go and move on.
2) Call - This is a huge pot and you have no reason to suspect anyone has a huge hand with the exception of Tight Man. See a flop, fold to a coordinated board, raise on a scattered flop that includes an Ace or King. If you get re-raised, you can fold to a set, two-pair, or AA/KK that Tight Man could have.
3) All-in - You've got a good hand, and Tight Man doesn't look confident in his. He's a good enough player to know you raise big with AA/KK in this spot. He probably has a mid pair, maybe as big as QQ, but you're cards are definitely live. Force the fish out, and make Tight Man decide whether to risk all his chips to the newcomer on a coin-flip.
I eventually called, and as expected everyone called the min raise. Flop is A-9-7, two hearts. I bet out and drunk asian goes all-in over top (he has me covered). It's folded around to me. I thought long and hard, but at the end of the day I couldn't put him on anything huge. His mannerisms said "I'm on a draw," so I called (I had the King of hearts btw). He had two baby hearts, and caught the flush on the river.
One hand and done. Suck. Still not sure how bad I played that, so please enlighten me. 6/11/2007 1:49:59 PM |

Assuming your bet out to be 1/2+ of the pot then you have less than 32 bucks left. He goes all in, pretty much an insta-call on my part. However you can assume for the most part (granted you said he was ultra LAG) that he is either drawing to a better hand, or already hit a set; as long as he is drawing, let him, better for you in the long run...and thats poker. 6/11/2007 2:39:58 PM |

^^^^ and who was Tight Man ... of course, I know who the drunk Asian was. He wasn't as bad this week. Well, was sober at least, and less annoying. Still played any two cards.
^^^^^ I played at the Beau back in November. The first night I played PLO H/L. they played with a Mississippi strattle from the button ... which I thought was back-asswards. then again, it's Mississippi, and it makes sense. Next night I played 1-2NLHE. A lot of those guys are local to the area ... couple from Mobile, some from across the bay. It was an interesting mix, but decent play for the most part. Both tables had the token drunk, token high-roller, and token ass-hat. I played tight-aggressive for the most part and made both nights lucrative. I'd say it has between 15-20 tables, fairly small but it fit the crowd easily that time of year. The high stakes room is 50 feet away. Not much in the way of Hold'Em going on in there, mostly black jack. Pretty good time overall.

Check out Day 2 from the $1500 NLHE where Helmuth won his 11th: http://www.pokerlistings.com/live-tournaments/wsop/2007/event15/live-updates?day=2
It pretty much just talks about JonTurner steamrolling the table with a massive chiplead and pwning Phil left and right. Then all of a sudden he's out in 22nd, wtf.
I found out that this is what happened:
Andy Philachack Cripples Jon Turner On a board of Jd10s7c7s, John Turner fired out 42K. Andy Philachack raised to 110K. Turner reraised all in for 250K and Philachack went into the tank before he called. Philachack was way behind with 8c8d while Turner flipped over 9d8h. He flopped the straight and led until the 8s spiked on the river. Turner was crippled and he looked like his soul was sucked out of his body as he passed his chips over to Philachack. Turner slipped to 45K while Philachack increased his stack to 725K
He prolly coasts to the final table if not for that 3 outer. 6/12/2007 5:24:55 PM |
