I know it's a little late now, but try raising the ISO and lowering the shutter speed. Remember, the moon is a moving object so you'll get motion blur on those long exposures. It's tough during the eclipse due to the minimal amount of light available. 12/21/2010 8:51:41 AM |

message_topic.aspx?topic=391741&page=167 message_topic.aspx?topic=391741&page=170 a few other random pages - i didn't go find them all
you should do at least a bit of post processing on 'once in a lifetime' shots imho - it's worth the time spent 12/21/2010 10:11:39 AM |

^ even with a tripod, using a too long exposure for the moon will give you blur. i found 5-10 sec with ISO 100 to be the sweet spot. 12/21/2010 12:23:23 PM |

^^There would have been a lot more motion if those had been handheld pics with a 10 second exposure. I went out to Umstead to try to get some pics last night but the clouds had rolled in by the time I got there.
^What aperture were you using and was that during the eclipse, or when the moon was still full?

all but the first were shot during totality, for which i varied the aperture from f/4 to f/8
for the first pic with the sliver of the moon, i shot that handheld with my 55-250 IS lens at f/5.6 for 1/10 sec 12/21/2010 12:59:17 PM |

I just took a peak at my christmas presents. I found a 28-80mm Tamron Aspherical lens for me and a 70-300mm Tamron lens with a Macro setting for me as well (I used this lens very briefly in China and I liked it). 12/21/2010 2:50:51 PM |

A bit of nonsense from the wedding I shot a few weeks ago.
Despite the fact that it was a test shot to make sure my flash level was good to go, this might be my favorite shot of the entire day.

anyone with a D90...ever gotten an "Err" message with "CHA" in the remaining photos area? yeah, i can google...seems like it could be a dozen different things, including a bad memory card (which is possible, since one of my cards got wet a couple of months ago...though it worked just fine once i dried it out...not sure if the one in the camera is that one or not)
anyway, when the error comes up, it won't DO anything until i take the battery out...i ask here because i'm curious if anyone has had the issue and was able to figure out what was going on

^ i'd go with the T2i...the video isn't as good as that on the D3100, but having an in-body AF motor will give you far more lenses to choose from in the long run 12/22/2010 8:38:18 AM |

the bag is dependent on what you want to do with it and what you want to carry with you
the lowepro slingshot is a popular choice, though i use a lowepro primus and much prefer it over the slingshot...you can get both of these fairly cheaply on CL 12/22/2010 10:56:12 AM |

Lowepro TLZ. Fits body with attached lens like a glove, plus a couple small pockets for essentials (extra battery, SD card, USB adapter, lens cap, etc). I am carrying 1 lens 95% of the time so it's just right for me.12/22/2010 11:57:54 PM |

Ordered my 580EX ii speedlite and diffuser on Wednesday. Signed up for Amazon Prime trial just to get free two shipping so it would get here today and I could play with it over vacation. Stupid Amazon uses USPS and not UPS or Fed Ex and therefore my flash and such forth are not here.
So ill.

I made my own thread asking the following questions, but got nowhere, so I figured I would ask in the thread where all the photographers are.
So I have bunch of old (late 70s early 80s) pictures with the round corners, what would be the best way to have copies made (4x6 in size) without them looking like shit?
Also, I have really small (maybe 3"x3") really old (early 1900s) pictures, I would like to have these blown up to either 5x7 or 8x10 without looking like shit, how can I do this?
I also have a picture from '79 (baby picture-portrait) that is reddish in color, what would be the best way to remove the reddish tint from the picture after I scan it?
I do not have the negatives to any of these photographs. 12/28/2010 7:28:06 PM |

Get a cheap scanner and photoshop (or GIMP). This isn't difficult. 12/28/2010 7:59:49 PM |
