^^ How about Cramers action alerts? You pay a monthly fee and get emails telling what he is doing with his charity portfolio.

^what, so everyone buys the stocks he buys for his portfolio, then he sells once they are pushed up?

thats my beef with his stock picks on tv, i would think that this wouldn't be as bad since its a much smaller audience

do you have proof that he does that, or is it simply wild speculation?

^are you serious? people watch cramer for stock pics, he tells you what he has already bought, everyone proceeds to want to buy it, demand increases, price rises, how hard is this? i would think you could do serious short-term trading just based on his picks, trying to buy quick, then selling once you feel they've shot up too far and there will be a pull back, etc.

i mean i would think he'd be monitored to make sure he wans't doing anything extremely sketchy, but the basic premise still holds that him saying he likes a stock increases demand (at least short-term/small cap)

oh i understand the theory totally. the concept is simple. i know how much power he wields.

i'm questioning your assertion that he actually dumps stocks after he talks them up.

go read the disclosure statements. he has a time period that he may not buy or sell a stock if he talks about it. there are many rules to it. but as for buying his stocks, pump and dump .. haha

I never meant to imply that he dumped them right after he recommends them (although I admittedly did, i was just trying to be cynical), but him stating he owns a stock still probably increases EV of that stock 6months into the future if not more

What do you think about doing something like sharebuilder.com and just putting an amount toward certain stocks monthly? Is there a benefit to this at all?

^ I used it for a while...they nice part is you get $4 trades instead of normally much more.

the downside is you aren't inclined to watch the stocks and see where they're going. eg the stock youre investing in could rocket in price and you could just keep on buying the stock every month while its overvalued and bound to drop in price.

if youre going to do monthly automated investing (which is normally a great way to save http://tinyurl.com/o5kso) I would have it going into a mutual fund, index etc.

what would you be investing this money for? Retirement, a house in a few years?

We already have a house, its kind of just something we're saving for. I just opened this account and am doing the deposits monthly into specific stocks. 3 that have been doing pretty well. I don't really understand the stock market all that much, so people had said this would be a good way to start. How will I know when I should sell, etc?

probably not much movement at all tomorrow or a slight downward correction

I think todays rally was exascerbated by some short squeeze. I definitely got some gains from bears covering today

I think that I might be able to do a very lucrative options play on them this fall.

Okay I totally take back my earlier comment - really strong earnings reports from Motorola and Apple are probably going to signal a rally in tech tomorrow. AAPL is up 4.40 in after-hours right now. Since the Intel reports aren't a surprise I fully expect to see a tech rally tomorrow. Particuarly in the more retail oriented parts of the sector.

^ that might have a bit to do with the $20 Billion buyback

Bernake's testimony this morning killed any chance of a rally - We may see a small one tomorrow on continued good earnings and outlooks when you factor in July options expiring tomorrow as well.

I don't have any solid proof, but I thought there were some indictments around his crew from front-running the market. Only thing I could find about it was from wikipedia

Quote :
"A former employee of Cramer's named Nicholas Maier accused Cramer, in his book Trading with the Enemy, of front running stocks by feeding rumors about stocks he held to CNBC's Maria Bartiromo. Cramer and Bartiromo have denied the allegation."

hey it wasn't that bad this week. i just bought apple and look how it's treating me.

ebay is doing a huge buyback. i might consider buying it now. i played it's last quarter earnings then put a "put" on it when it fell. it will bump up in a lil. keep your eyes on it.

well, i snatched a few shares of NFLX @ $18.89/share with the $100 or so I had leftover and available for trading after a purchase the other day. i'd thought about getting it a little while back, but went with something else instead.

but then i ended up losing money today, although not quite as much as I made yesterday.
