those cylons outside of the colony would have a tough time finding the humans, seeing as how they did a blind jump, and there being no Gina (Pegasus-Six) to set off a nuke for the cylons to detect a lightyear away and come find them with.

really, the whole thing is wrapped up pretty well. you can't untie it and get many more episodes of BSG-proper. it's over.

I look forward to the prolog, and the new, totally independent series.

Well, we were never given a cylon life expectancy. Although, space travel appears to be pretty dangerous, so even if cylons live forever after a few thousand years they would have all died in various accidents or at least found themselves planet bound.

However, if they do live forever, it is conceivable that through the application of effort they could create a new race of cylon, capable of either reproduction or resurrection. At that point, they would have 150,000 years to explore every nook and crany of the galaxy to find something, if not Earth2 then at least the cylons that were given their freedom, which will presumably need fuel to remain free; maybe willing to trade the location of Earth2 in exchange for it.

But that is a pidly point; we know that did not happen because we saw it not happen. Maybe God blew up the cylons once the child got to Earth2.

^Die.

BSG and Firefly/Serenity are apples to oranges. Both are great in their own fucking way. I personally can't really pick one over the other, but since BSG did make it a lot longer, we got to better explore the storyline and characters.

it just hit me that this show is over. one of my friends looks just like Galen and I was looking for a picture to show him and it made me sad because there aren't any more episodes to watch. I am excited to rewatch them all in a few months though.

Ah.

Yes, I've considered that, obviously.

Then who??

(no one. I guess they could say Cavil. but that's a stretch. Ron D. just forgot, it seems.)

So Hera pretty much had no significance other than being the reason the final human vs. cylon fight took place in the end?

Very solid finale.

They cheesed Starbuck. That was not adequate. She wasn't the same as head six/baltar since she interacted with everyone and everything.

Otherwise plenty of closure.

Hera was the reason Starbuck was able to lead them to Earth2. Not to mention she was the first human/cylon offspring.

Granted they could easily have made more so she wasn't THAT important but she got them to where they needed to be.

Chief Tyrol choking whats her face was a great moment. As was Athena clipping Boomer.

I miss it already

That argument (as I understand it anyway) is that all three are angels, but Kara is one for everyone rather than just for caprica and gaius...

^^Yep. The expectations for Hera's significance were hugely overblown. Kara already knew the tune before Hera was kidnapped by Boomer and the huge "LET'S GO GET HERA" shitstorm began..

hera's "importance" wasn't that she was the catalyst for the final showdown (though I guess it can be argued that getting to new earth required that specific set of circumstances) but that without her interbreeding with the new earth locals, both the cylons and the colonial humans would've gone extinct

Did they ever give us a reason to think that Helo and Athena couldnt just pop another kid out? Not to mention all those other 8s and 6s running around. Im sure they could have had children with other colonials.

Plus the colonials themselves could have had children. There were a lot of them left too.

They could, but if the article read from the present combined with the commentary from the head angels is true then that girl and her offspring bred out the rest of the human race. She absolutely got busy to be all our great^10000 grandmothers.

I get that saving Hera was vital to the survival of the species long term, and interbreeding and all that rot

but how did Adama rationalize the risk of going to the Cylon base to save one girl? that's the part I missed

^^The Cylons couldn't resurrect anymore, and needed Hera to find out why they couldn't procreate naturally. Adama knew this.

Great finale. Everything came together nicely. The metaphysical moments were not comepletely random a-la deus ex machina. Usually I don't enjoy metaphysical cop-outs, but the Starbuck thing just clicked. She was an angel.

There's only a few nuances that I didn't particularly like or understand:
-Why did Adama Sr. and Adama Jr. CHOOSE to part ways, never to see eachother again?
-Why have Tyrol choose a life of complete solitude with no hope of seeing another intelligent person? Not that he hasn't had it rough, but that choice seems extreme.
-So are we to infer that Hera got bussay with one of the monkey people and thus homo-sapiens were created?

If Kara was an Angel then why all of the 'what am i' garbage? She is not like head six or head baltar. They both know what they are, they dont have their own dead bodies that they've just found and are freaking out about (though they could of at some point i suppose).

It just doesnt fit that she is an Angel. Its ok that they did that, but I think its pretty clear thats not where they were headed with her when they decided to bring her back.

I dont know about Hera. Are they implying that a half cylon/half human bred with 100% humans to create what we know today? Or are they implying that she was simply the first in the line of cylon/human mixing. That way all those other cylons that landed with them would have procreated too.

> -Why have Tyrol choose a life of complete solitude with no hope of seeing another intelligent person? Not that he hasn't had it rough, but that choice seems extreme.

I'm pretty sure that was a play on Galen's name, and the cold northern island he was referring to was Ireland.

> -So are we to infer that Hera got bussay with one of the monkey people and thus homo-sapiens were created?

Pretty much. They were saying that Hera (had a daughter, who)^n is your mother. That does not mean Hera was the only one who interbred with the natives; but at least one did, and if you trace your mother's mother all the way up, you'll eventually get to Hera. Either way, I think the point they were making was that we're all related, that it doesn't matter if you're human or cylon, so quit killing eachother over it. The human race is the only race, so say we all!

Kara just didn't know she was an angel.

The way I see it, "God" had a plan. The lame things with "god has a plan" are either God either intervenes directly as in deux ex machina or God's plan is too vague and no one is really sure God had anything to do it. In BSG, God's intent is clear and God's ways are mysterious, but everything is laid-bare in the end.

Haha, what a crock of bullshit.

Kara is an angel who acts like a normal person, doesn't know what she is, fucks people, etc.

Tyrol has to put up with so much shit he just leaves everyone to go live in Ireland.

They all decide to forsake all physical possessions, almost unanimously, and go back to sticks and stones.

They all split up like crazy people...randomly splitting families, former couples, etc. for very vague reasons.

They spend two whole fucking seasons talking about shit like Hera being the saviour of us all, Kara being the Harbinger of death, etc. and then none of it comes to fruition.

LOL.

^^ LOST actually has a direction and doesn't feel lik ethe writers are just winging it from week to week. Jesus Christ, I wish the BSG finale had been 1/10th as good as any random episode of LOST this season.

I wouldn't have even cared that BSG ended so shittily, really, if it hadn't had so much potential. It was just fucking lame.

I hereby officially blame StillFuchsia for getting me into this shit all those years ago.
