Did anyone else notice how the water was frozen over when batman appeared with the flare and then at the end when he flys out, all the water isn't frozen? If I recall, he showed up like with 12 hours left or something.

Yeah enough time for ice to melt.

Freezing of relatively shallow inland waterways is not the same as freezing the open ocean.

saw it a second time tonight and have more appreciation for it. I think with a nearly three hour movie with loads of characters it requires a second viewing to absorb everything.

I don't know about that. It wasn't an overly deep movie.

So I'm confused. Is John Blake supposed to be the new Batman or is he Robin? It felt like the ending indicated that Bruce Wayne is done for good, John Blake is going to take over as Batman but oh by the way his name is Robin.

Batman fights Bane twice and loses. Batman does not use guns.
Catwoman beats Bane in 2 seconds. Catwoman uses a gun.

I really want to love this movie, but it's very difficult especially after seeing it a second time. It definitely has its moments but it's just not as polished overall as the other two films. My biggest gripe by far is the fact that it's almost three hours long and batman (in costume) is part of the movie for maybe a 30 minutes.

If that means he only talks in horrible Batman voice for 30 minutes...then I finally got pumped to see this movie.

Also people clapped and cheered various times during the movie. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable. It's a movie. Geez.

^^ I think that when all of the shine wears off from this movie, people will start ti vilify it for that reason.

People forget that Christopher Nolan wanted to tell the story of Bruce Wayne, more so than that of Batman.

Batman Begins was mostly about Bruce Wayne learning to become Batman. He was only Batman for the last 1/3 of the movie.

The Dark Knight was about Bruce Wayne wanting to quit being Batman, hence why he wanted to protect Harvey Dent and stop the Joker from ruining his reputation. He saw Rachel Dawes as his primary motivation for quitting the Batman role, but she died.

The Dark Knight Rises is kind of like how when Rocky comes out of retirement to fight in the Rocky Balboa movie. He is in bad shape, he is emotionally and mentally a mess, but he sees one last chance to do something he is good at, so he comes back, saves the city and disappears forever.

It's not about Batman. It's about Bruce Wayne.

Should have named the movies after Bruce Wayne instead of Batman. Trickster.

The word Batman appears in the name of only one of the three movies.

Also, a schooner is a sailboat, stupid head.

One could argue that Bruce Wayne is the Dark Knight separate from Batman. It is Bruce Wayne who climbs out of prison to the chant RISE RISE RISE

I doubt it. I think they said the yield of the nuke was 4 megatons, right? The strength of the earthquake that caused the Japan Tsunami was something north of 330 megatons

Castle Bravo was 15 megatons and didn't cause a tsunami.

i thought it was the best of the three.

even though i didn't like the ending all that much, that was the quickest three hours i've ever spent in a theater.

i would say probably not much of one. earthquakes that cause tsunamis release MUCH more energy (orders of magnitude) than a nuke. (and this wasn't even a huge nuke from what it looked like)

Please explain to me how Catwoman (or whatever her name is) didn't ralize bruce wayne was batman. Was she just being sarcastic with the "powerful friend" thing or did she not see him with his mask off in the underworld?

How did robin know bruce wayne was the batman?

and rush limbaugh had it all wrong.

Bane was much more similar to a liberal stance while batman is much more of a conservative.

I'm pretty sure she was being sarcastic seeing how Bane openly called him Mr. Wayne in front of her.

He had a tough childhood too so he was able to 'see it in his eyes.' In other words the story required that he know the identity of batman but they couldn't come up with a reason.

Just saw it at the imax on Sunday. Damn that screen is huge. And did anyone think of this while watching batman fly out to the ocean with the bomb?

Also, and I am sure this has come up, but how does Bane eat?

Exactly what I was thinking, especially with Bane's speech about giving back to the people. And the way that they set it up with the Dent Act, he almost had a justification for his revolution.

I thought it was kind of silly that none of the criminals or members of the League of Shadows who were assisting Bane didn't care at all that they would be blown up along with Gotham.

Just saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Thought Bane's voice was worse than Batman's (didn't think that was possible). I shouldn't have to concentrate to try and understand important things that the important characters are saying. I know I can't be the only one.

Fuck...Anne Hathaway is amazing. Who were the numbnuts that didn't think she could pull Catwoman off?? I thought she was amazing in the movie.

Always a big fan of Marion Cotillard as well. She's become one of my favorite leading ladies. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting up there as well. Will be interesting to see what they do with Robin (has there been any hints??). I'd watch it...and I'd definitely watch anything with Hathaway as Catwoman.

That's about all I've got. I liked it.

Nolan is done with Batman. I think he was quoted during the filming of this one that Robin has no place in this Batman Universe (need citation). He stayed true to that statement as there was not a Robin in the traditional sense in this movie. I would assume that the scene (real name = Robin) was added by the studio so they could leave the window open, but I highly doubt that Nolan would be involved.

After watching a second time... agree with the earlier posts saying batman in costume should have been in the film more than 20 minutes.

The batman vs bane fights and cop chase scenes were epic. I understand you have to have Bruce as an old cripple and in a prison to "RISE" but come on you have essentially an hour of build up for the BANE batman rematch and its only a 2 minute long fight.

Not to mention how painful the dialogue was:

"No I came here to stop you"
