RGIII will not be able to limp for 63 yds rushing against Seattle. He only threw for 100 against DALLAS. Morris IS NOT putting up 200 on the ground against Seattle either. Russell Wilson won't put up flashy numbers (22-27 225 yds 2tds, 35 yd rushing 1td) but will manage the game and move on while RGIII is one and done (may not even play the whole game) and gets crowned ROY b/c of his Heisman trophy, flashy numbers and playing injured to help his Redskins make it to the playoffs while Morris really deserves the credit...
Actually Tony Romo deserves the credit, he pretty much gave Washington the game

Well as a redskins fan do you not think that Morris should at least get a mention? He is 2nd in the league in rushing yards behind the best running back in the last 25 years.
Actually after looking at the stats, aside from rushing stats, Andrew Luck pretty much owns both Russell and RG3 in most categories. 3rd in passing TDs, 10th in completions, 7th in passing yds. It's gonna be hard to vote against that. Plus Indy's a feel good story b/c of Pagano, as it should be. The argument about how Luck turned Indy around is BS tho as Indy tanked it last year to get him. Russell has the total TD category, RG3 owns rushing qb stats.
Luck threw a bunch of INTs and Bob Griffin the 3rd couldn't manage to make it through a full rookie season while cold, off the bench rookie came in and won twice (carried Wash to OT, won and then won the next)
At this point I'd say Advantage:Luck 12/31/2012 4:59:09 AM |

hell yeah i think morris should get a mention, at the very least. 2nd in the league in rushing and coming off of his game last night.
I think you could pick any of RGIII, RW or Luck and be right and wrong at the same time. This has been a special rookie class. Those 3, Doug Martin, Morris...hell, even Tannehill has had his moments and Weeden hasn't been absolutely horrendous. Just look at the 3 QB's...
RGIII - Sets rookie passer rating and rushing yrd record. RW - sets rookie passing TD record Luck - sets rookie passing yardage record.
Those three guys have re-written the rookie QB record book, and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. BTW, my bitter comment was more in regards to the cowboys giving the game away. 12/31/2012 5:42:08 AM |

Pretty amazing that all 3 rookie QBs made the playoffs.
I said a week or so back that whoever won their division would probably win ROY. RGIII won, other 2 were wildcards. Think it has to be RGIII, with the fact he won the division, finished the season on a must-win streak and ESPN loves him. Still think I'd vote him 3rd based on performance for the whole season and various factors, but it's a really tight race and could see any of them winning it.
Luck - "Next Peyton Manning" RGIII - "Most Exciting QB in the League" Wilson - "Mr. Underdog"
ESPN is loving this. 12/31/2012 10:32:49 AM |

I agree its RG3's to lose, but I don't think winning the division is what puts him over the edge...both the Seahawks and Colts had one more win than the Skins, and arguably played in harder divisions...or at least in divisions with one elite team (49ers, Texans) whereas the NFC East was just 3 very good teams and the Eagles 12/31/2012 10:36:08 AM |

Eh, I thought the NFC East was strong, but down the stretch it reminded me of the old NFC West where it was sad any of them had to make the playoffs because all the teams were mediocre.
Dallas was running out of healthy bodies to play down the stretch. Giants were extremely up-and-down, they'd look great one week and pathetically bad the next week, so they average out to average. Redskins were just the healthiest/more consistent of the 3 possible teams. Against playoff teams: Skins: 2-2, Hawks: 4-1, Colts: 3-2.
I agree it SHOULDN'T count a lot for winning the NFC East vs. Wildcard in tougher divisions, but I feel like it'll be a selling point. Peter King broke down his expectations for it today in MMQB, seems like he picked Wilson to be ROY and RGIII was his 2nd choice. 12/31/2012 10:52:22 AM |

Yeah but RGIII often wears mismatching socks. I know it's important to the NFL for players to follow the rules and conform to dressing restrictions. It could hurt him in the voting. 12/31/2012 10:56:20 AM |

the Chiefs had 5 players make the Pro Bowl...granted one of them was their punter, but Jamaal Charles was obviously deserving, Berry is indeed a great safety, I kind of question Derrick Johnson's old ass making it, but the Chiefs did have a good defense this year, and Tamba Hali who is also a baller

By stats, Luck seems most similar to Matt Stafford.
Wilson and Griffin seem most similar to each other, except Griffin focuses more on short yard completions and Wilson likes the deep ball (18 vs 23% of throws), which probably stems from the power running game Lynch opens up 1/2/2013 5:36:23 PM |

^ It stems from the offense. Have you watched a Redskins game this year? Their primary target is the short yardage receiver the majority of the time. The Seahawks look to go deep fairly often. I think Wilson throws a more accurate deep ball as well. 1/2/2013 6:38:12 PM |

LOL wut? Did you see how the Ravens ended the season?
If you are going to use the “look who each team has played” argument this is a better indicator:
Quote : | "Against playoff teams: Skins: 2-2, Hawks: 4-1, Colts: 3-2." |
Yeah yeah yeah, the Seahawks were given win vs. the Packers. Skins wins: Minn, Bal Losses: Cinci, Atl Hawks wins: GB*, NE, Minn, SF Losses: SF Colts wins: Hou, GB, Minn, Losses: NE Hou
Each of them beat Minn, so that’s a wash. It would be hard to argue that the Seahawks didn't have better wins against the playoff teams, even if you take away the GB win. At NE is a pretty big win, and SF is also a quality win although it was at home. Skins beat a Baltimore team that has been in a nose dive since week 12 and the Colts quality win came from a Houston team that's in the same situation. The Colts’ GB win was early in the season, before the Packers looked like themselves.
So "who they beat" is an invalid argument for RGIII, that looks to be a better argument for RW. And if you look into their stats for those wins against playoff teams they are all pretty similar, (probably due to such a small sample size):
RGIII 296yds/game 2.5tds/game 0.5TOs/game RW 214.5yds/game 3tds/game 0.25TOs/game Luck 237yds/game 2.3tds/game 0.3TOs/game

Yes, considering I'm a huge Ravens fan. We had several bad games due to injury after basically securing the division win and gave away the final game to the Bengals. The Ravens are a solid team when they have all of their personnel and the rest of the AFC North is strong too, so simply being on top of that division means something.
They could suck and lose to the Colts this weekend, but I see them making it to the AFC Championship game at the least.1/4/2013 1:04:12 PM |

LOL, new England and Denver are so much stronger than the rest of the AFC its ridiculous. The chance of Baltimore making the afc championship is pretty low, they are not a very good team this year. 1/4/2013 1:11:21 PM |

Denver is surprisingly good this year, and I can see them going to the Super Bowl for sure. I don't see NE as good as they have been in the past few seasons. The Ravens beat them this year early on, before they lost Gronkowski.
Anyway, the Ravens schedule (assuming they win) will go through Denver before the Patriots again. Who knows what'll happen. 1/4/2013 1:28:59 PM |
