i have really thick curly hair but when i straighten it, i use the treseme straightening shampoo and conditioner and then i use the fekkai straightening serum on my hair when it's wet. it cuts down on blow dry time and frizzies. i even use the straightening serum when i wear my hair curly because it helps with the frizz. sometimes after i'm done blowdrying/straightening, i'll throw the tiniest drop on my hands and run it through my hair just to keep it in place and shiny. you don't need much even before you blowdry. i have very long hair and i use maybe one small pump to distribute.

WARNING: words

Foundations: I have tried many foundations, mostly department store brands. I used to use Prescriptives Traceless (basically a tinted moisturizer) but now Prescriptives is sort of out of business. I also decided I needed something with a bit more coverage and staying power. I also tried one or two from Clinique, but even the lightest color was too orange for me.

After trying other various foundations, I tried Revlon Colorstay based on several positive reviews from various beauty gurus on YouTube. This was the first drugstore brand foundation I've tried, and WOW. I love it. They make it in two varieties - one for combo/dry skin and one for combo/oily skin. I have oily skin, and let me tell you this foundation does NOT move or sweat off or even get oily throughout the day. Since I've started using it I haven't had to blot or add more powder during the day. When I sweat, it's a clear sweat instead of a tinted sweat like I would get with my previous foundation. It is more of a medium to full coverage foundation, and it does take more effort to blend in, but I'm totally sold. Unfortunately it's only in bottle form right now, but I heard they may be moving it to a pump system in the future. The best part is that full price is maybe $12.99 but drugstores always seem to run specials on Revlon products. You wont have the benefit of trying out the colors like in a department store, but if you can try some when they go on sale, it's definitely worth a shot.

I also have redness around my nose/chin, and I sometimes use a green tinted primer. Really though, I find the Revlon Colorstay does a great job of evening out the redness on its own.

try the chi silk stuff with the straightener, i love that stuff.

as far as foundations- eww. i guess i am blessed with skin that stays clear most of the time, but i hate foundation except for photos and very special occasions. just use some concealer and blend it in.

i'm the same way GREEN JAY. i never use foundation. just some bronzer and blush. i have a lot of freckles on my face so it's hard to find a foundation that would match.

for me, i have very pale skin so nothing ever matches anyway. and then it covers any color in my cheek so i either look like a ghost or i put on some blush and risk looking clownish

I HATE foundation too. I hate covering up my freckles and it just feels awful and makes my skin worse!!! Concealer and at times mineral powder for me.

I hate the feeling of foundation and mineral ones are too cakey on my dryish skin. I started using MAC Face and Body foundation, the lightest shade doesn't go orange on me like everyfreaking thing else, and it evens out my skin tone without covering my freckles. I seriously have gotten way more compliments about my skin since I started using it. It wouldn't really work for people who need heavy zit coverage though.

I want to try that if it is good for sensitive skin as well. I have used neutrogena for so long that I am afraid to use other things.

As far as foundation is concerned, I really like Maybeline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O. It is light and has minimal coverage. It's on par with a tinted moisturizer.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I will try some of the stuff.

Also Bob and the Showgram was talking about lip balm addiction today and I totally fall under that category.

And as you can see, I've been super busy at work today.

my hair is about as long as what you're looking at. my husband likes it but its kind of a pain. its so heavy it doesn't have much volume (i have lots of very fine hair though). i can never get it styled as beautifully as the hair you tried on either. its mostly doing its own thing or i do some crappy updo

I know what you're saying. I've never had it that long though before... I get it fairly long and then chop it all off... but I'm really going to do it this time!

So I want one of these

but I can't decide if I want it in light heather gray, deep charcoal heather, night sky heather, or taupe heather.
Help?

Here is the link with the colors.

Charcoal or taupe would be the most versatile I think. I like charcoal. Also, it is completely awesome.

it is waist length but there are the ends that are longer so you can tie it to be longer or shorter.

I don't know if that shows up but it shows how many ways you can tie the sweater. I love pieces of clothing like this sooooo much!!

Clearly cross-front tie-back charcoal is the way to go.

i think those are pretty cool. they're called bellinis on other websites. i ordered a sweater with a front like that, but it only hangs open. I can't tie stuff up and look good since my roll is so big, i need the vertical draping to disguise it.

I ordered a bunch of crap in the last couple weeks. those ugly shoes and a bunch of clothes too. now i have to wait for them to get to my mothers house and beg her to put it all in one box and mail it to me. sigh!

i got this skirt in blue, red and black. how would you style it?

Oh I love the color of the skirt. I would wear it with a tight shirt tucked in since it looks like a higher waistband. Maybe also add a nice cardigan over it for a cooler day.

Also i have a cardigan thing like punchmonk posted and I love it. It's so versatile. Especially perfect for this kind of weather since it's cooler in the mornings and warmer during the day.

Who here loves fashion blogs? this is one of my favs:
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/
the reason I'm mentioning it is cause this picture taken of a pre-teen girl in London, just blows me away.

she has more fashion sense in her little pinky finger than the whole of me.

Oh my god. Help, please.

I used to have an AWESOME haircut. Layered, it moved a lot, and was awesome. It was getting too long, so I went in, and told the girl to please keep it exactly the same...just make it shorter, by ~2"

This is it pinned back for work

Not much, but the best picture I have for that.

I am now sporting a fucking bowl/pageboy cut. I'd post pictures, but it's THAT bad. And I cry every time I try to take a picture or look in the mirror. Even pinned back like in the above picture, it's BAD. I'm gonna wet it down here shortly, and undo the salon styling, but I'm afraid it's going to do no good.

Suggestions on another cut? I can't afford to lose much length. Alternatively, suggestions on how to style this?

Ok, some pictures of this shit. I'll e deleting these before too long

today's groupon is $20 for $40 of stuff at the body shop (at least my LA groupon is that, but it's good at all stores nationwide) -- i was just running low on lotion/body butter from there and planning on going soon, so excellent timing for me...

also, wanted to mention that while getting my haircut this weekend i saw a paul mitchell product called 'texturizing sea spray' for whoever was talking about saltwater and their hair -- might be worth checking out...

ambrosia1231, I just got that same haircut this weekend!!!!!!!!!! We could be twins!

I just wanted a trim, I told her at MOST take off half an inch and do not keep my layers ( it's too short to look right on me.) SO of course she somehow heard, take off at least an inch and give me round layers. Now, I have to use my large round curling iron to make it a little flippy (not too much) and keep it from looking so boring. I'm just not going to do anything about it other than fight it everyday, I'm trying so hard to grow it out that cutting it again will make it worse.

Hair grows half an inch a month. That's my mantra.

Or a round brush.

re-styling made it a LITTLE better. I now look like ad adult fat lesbian from 1992, instead of a toddler who should be wearing a plaid jumper.

I am SOOOO upset. Like, bawling my fucking eyes out. I'm starting the process of where to go tODAY to get this fixed.

I can deal with short - my hair was ass length earlier this year, and it's nice having shorter hair. I just can't go super short b/c of how fat I am, esp in my face
