Tried to buy a handgun today at the show. My purchase permit was issued in 2008 in Wake county. The address on the permit doesn't match my driver's license but I still reside in Wake county. My driver's license lists my current address (in Wake county).
The sheriff I spoke to at the show said I was fine and so did another vendor. The vendor I was buying from refused to sell me the gun. So, they have every right to set their own rules for sales....so I'm not mad at them.....but who is right? 12/15/2012 9:03:49 PM |

I plan on buying another Saiga 12 next week up at Fuquay Gun while I'm back home in NC.
Should I buy ARs, too, in case we get another ban, or will I be totally fine no matter what happens if I just buy 2-3 stripped lowers and a pile of 30-round mags?
Also, I want to build one lightweight carbine, maybe even with a polymer receiver (prob just lower). Bushmaster has an inexpensive full polymer carbine that is INSANELY light, but some of the reviews aren't good.
The other, I'm thinking about an accurate, floated-barrel, full-size AR chambered in something bigger so I can hunt with it...maybe 6.5 Grendel. Only problem is, it looks like only a couple of manufacturers build anything for the Grendel so far. 12/16/2012 7:10:24 PM |

you could buy a pile of 6.8 with the money you'd save by going AR-15 instead of AR-10

Buy a couple stripped lowers if you can find them, and some pmags. Buy any high capacity magazines for guns you one day hope to own. 12/16/2012 9:12:17 PM |

What would possess one to build a 6.8 SPC over a 6.5 Grendel, though? The Grendel is pretty much superior in every way, from what I can gather.

If your addresses don't match, they're not supposed to sell to you. Anytime you move, you're required to update the address with the Sheriff's office and get a change of address card to keep with your permit.

There's nothing that I've found or ever heard that says it has to match on a buying permit. I've used a few permits and my address has matched only once. 12/17/2012 11:00:07 AM |
Rush Veteran 403 Posts user info edit post |
That particular statute does not apply to purchase permits, but I don't know if there's another one that would. Probably need to check with the sheriff.
Edit: Just saw he mentioned purchase permit in the original post, so I guess that doesn't apply at all. It's been so long since I've dealt with those, I forgot they even put your address on them.

Looking at getting 500-1000 rnds of .40 S&W. I prefer Federal, CCI, or Blazer brands. 165gr or 180gr flat nose jacketed. Local, I can get 1000 for $330+tax. Cheapest shipped is $299.xx for 1000 from PSA.
