i'm not looking to sell it but have always wondered about it. i've actually got a ton of other accessories with it. he used to be a photographer for the local news paper but never was very well off. i would have been very surprised if it were a super gee whiz camera, but glad to know it is/was decent.
i've had it a while and plan on keeping it, even though i can't remember the last time i took a picture with a film camera. 2/5/2011 7:13:50 PM |

actual film has died off into the niche world. Hard as hell to find any specialty chem labs that will do any slide film processing without spending $$$. If you can shoot film, try it. B&W is pretty fun and actually pretty easy to do at home with simple chems. Dev tanks and accessories are practically free now days, but damn them old slr's using the crazy expensive photo batteries that cost 8 bucks and need two to power the body. My AE-1 program seems to eat them after 3 rolls. 2/5/2011 11:27:04 PM |

Me and a friend shot a 3 minute piece on Miami basketball with my 7D and his 5D:

pretty good cut. The video is squished a bit so you might want to check your output settings in whatever program you are using. Also, noticed that the last clip, the right channel is missing. But I like how you told the story and really kept it all together, specially at the end. Some video clips seemed a bit too close and really wide angle, and I wouldn't mind seeing some more b-roll clips cut in. 2/8/2011 1:53:19 AM |
Bweez All American 10849 Posts user info edit post |
Thanks.
Yeah my friend had a lot on his plate and had to kinda rush the editing.
Another problem was we were shooting with the intention of a "we suck at basketball" piece and they ended up winning that particular game, so a lot of the b-roll was happy stuff.

well we call that dramatization, get some shots, slow it down, add some blue and maybe some stupid crazy motion blur like you see in those documentaries from the 90's; oh oh oh, even polarize, solarize or negative/inverse effect. lol
I've been watching too much science documentaries that have those stupid effects to hype up science talk because stupid ppl don't give a shit about the cosmos. "super novas are the most deadliest explosion in the known universe besides the big bang and it COULD KILL YOU IF YOU WERE THERE". lol no shit. 2/8/2011 2:28:13 PM |

we had a shotgun on a shockmount on the hotshoe going into the camera via XLR converter.
but my friend is getting a Zoom H4n friday I think.

I want to get a set of wireless mics. A buddy of mine was doing a school project documenting some of the store owners in downtown Raleigh and wired this old dude up about his store. When he was setting up his camera and getting lights moved around a bit for the 2nd location, b-roll candid clips. He still had the wireless on, headphones on and zoom was still recording and I guess the guy just didn't realize this but my friend over heard a conversation of the guy talking to one of his friends.
"wtf are we suppose to do. The kid says to ignore him like a fly, but he's buzzing around like a god damn cockroach. I just want to punch him in the face with his annoying voice."
My friend paused and made a sad face. lol 2/9/2011 1:36:29 PM |

i just recently picked up a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC for my 60D.
Got it brand new in box for about $420...amazing deal. I really recommend this lens to anyone shooting video. The travel on the focus ring is very short, which makes it easy for snapping things into focus ultra fast, but it is hard to attain that artsy slow focus. I think I will stick to primes for that.
Also, turns out the thing is freakin' parfocal throughout the entire range..... 2/10/2011 10:26:16 PM |

I've got a LNIB Nikkor 18-105mm VR that came w/ my D7000 kit that I'd like to get rid of if anyone's interested. Used for a few clicks to test it out, but I have a faster zoom for walkaround use. Comes in box w/ bag and all that jazz, plus a Tiffen UV filter.
Cheapest I could find new was Adorama's gray market version at $275 and refurbs for $239, so I'd like to get at least $225 for it. Will also trade for a mint 35mm f/1.8 DX lens + a little cash or accessories, or as partial trade toward a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DX. 2/14/2011 11:05:09 AM |

I've used the Nikon's version of the 200-400 and that's a fabulous lens with a good amount of trade offs to be a much more useful lens than the 400 2.8 prime. I liked the 400 when I had it, but 13lbs of glass was a chore to use for the few times I needed it. And it's probably going to be around the 6k range, similar to Nikon's market. I highly doubt it would be the same price range of the new 400 prime, which is around 10-11k.
And holy shit, how the hell did the get the new 400 down to 8.5 lbs?2/19/2011 2:53:22 PM |

If anyone is interested, I'm running a small buy in to a few of my friends for large size prints on my Epson 3800. I'm trying to raise some money to buy some new inks and other supplies that I need; in return I'll print 16x20 prints for you at a good price.
Ten(10) initial slots for $15 each: - Two(2) 16x20 prints on glossy paper - Pro level printing - Image consultation - Light photo editing when needed - Proper exhibition level proofing
I'll deliver in the Apex/Raleigh area--beyond that and you'll have to pay for shipping, which should be around the $4-5 range, but I'd rather deal with local people.
I just ask that the images are of decent quality (good sharpness, exposure, 6MP or higher, no Kiwi Cropping please). 2/23/2011 12:32:28 PM |

personally I love #5, the split light is always interesting to me. #3 was ok, just annoyed that I didn't get the 2nd arm in the shot, she kept moving it out of the shot and since it was like 30 outside, I didn't have alot of shots to choose from that location. I made a 42" banner print of it though and looks pretty good at the Open House display that I made for the college. I think #1 and #2 are the weakest part of the set. And the last one was everyone's fav and I also made that into a 42" banner print.
