project rebuild is tearin' shit up right now.
$35.
.25/.50 6max lhe ->$300. (with a $40 and a $68 tournament cash thrown in... and a few tournament busts too, nothing over $5 buy though)
.5/1 -> $665 (now) (been starting to run a little 1/2 6mlhe... mainly around 2 specific players that ive tagged and religously check to see if they're playing.)
oddly enough, i should be moving up to 1/2 now,
but that run from 300->665 has been in the last three days at .5/1
so i may sit here for a bit longer, have a little more cushion in the roll management before pumping up
i mean, sunday i had a -110 bb swing, then a +220 bb swing..... in a few hours.
sooo
the variance in 6max lhe is immense for a hyper donk like me....
(and i love it)
[if i can do it, you can too]
im hoping to be up to something respectable by the end of the year. 8/14/2007 10:03:39 PM |

OK first night in Vegas I ended up at a 1/3 NL game at Caesers. One obvious loudmouth drunk canadian at the table. A few hands in a look at KK. He had raised to 107 preflop (yes a 1/3 table) and I push all in and he folds.... not a complete maniac.
A few hands later i'm dealt AA and raise big, he's my only caller. Flop comes A J 9 rainbow. I raise big, he pushes all in and I call. turn 8, river 10 he shows Q 9 for the strait. Ouch. A 600 dollar pot.
Probably 20 hands later I have 10 10. Canadian raises 40 preflop I call. Flop is 10 7 3. I raise big he calls. Next card A. I raise big again he pushes all in. I call. He turns over JJ and hits his J on the river to bust me out. 800 dollar pot.
HELLISH. I caught AA three times, KK twice, QQ and JJ twice in the span of 2 hours and left with nothing. Brutal beats.
So after losing 500 the first day I ended up down 300 for the weekend. It sucks it had to happen on the first night, I felt like i wanted to puke even entering Caesers after that. 8/15/2007 12:06:20 AM |

how are you having these type of runs at limit? It just seems to me that whenever I play limit, if I try and play a structured starting hand lineup, i'm only playing about 30% of the time. When I am playing, I feel that I'm constantly drawn out on. I've probably lost 2 buy ins when playing limit. I feel that it should be an easy way to make some money, but I cannot seem to find a grove. I play low limits like the .25/.50. Do you have a chart of starting hands you follow? Or do you just play the players, and some nights you play 70% and other nights you play 30%?8/15/2007 8:58:43 AM |
pilgrimshoes Suspended 63151 Posts user info edit post |
how are you having these type of runs at limit?
well... my SHLHE style is pretty damn aggro, so i'll swing way up or way down in flashes. as I mentioned, swings that are pretty devestating to a rock at FRLHE are common place to me. sorta why i feel that a 300bb is way short for how i play, and im kinda comfortable now with ~600. seems like a good number.
Also, remember that 90hands/hr * 4-6 tables adds up pretty quickly.
It just seems to me that whenever I play limit, if I try and play a structured starting hand lineup, i'm only playing about 30% of the time.
that's about right for full ring. with 6 max, due to the blinds comming around so fast, you've really gotta open up.. (in late position esp.) im talking like vp$ip of like
utg - 15 hijack - 25 co - 35 button - 45 sb - whatever bb - whatever
the worst part of limit is knowing that you HAVE to pay off sometimes.
blind play is really important.
one key that most people miss out on is calling a late raise from the bb just b/c of the pot odds, then check folding when they miss. c-betting is so prevalent that if you're calling the raise, you should be willing to bump it up.
it's amazing how often frequent steal/c-bettors will bet/fold to a c/r on the flop on an uncoordinated low board from the bb.
and if you're in the sb and want to play against a lone lp raiser, always 3 bet.
you want it HU with you in control, and dont want to swing along to the bb..
that is unless youre fishing around with something like J8s.
but dont do that too often.
la la la
basic short handed limit stuff really
i mean
you want to be the aggressor at all times. you want to be the one putting pressure on. and sure enough, people will start calling you down with ace high just b/c they've seen you betting/raising down with king high. ... and that's profitable.
When I am playing, I feel that I'm constantly drawn out on.
the key to running well in limit is fading flush draws
I've probably lost 2 buy ins when playing limit.
25bb buyins?
usually if i drop that much on one table ill leave and go to another. there's no need to sit at a table that's too rocky. i like tables that are also aggro with me, such that i know i'll get paid.
I feel that it should be an easy way to make some money, but I cannot seem to find a grove. I play low limits like the .25/.50.
if you play FR and just play the odds, you can beat the game for like 2bb/100. not calling without proper pot odds blah blah blah.
but you wont beat the rake doing that.
if you ever watch or play in a live or online mid-high to high limit game, you'll be amazed what it's like. it's such a different game than the limp and hit game that is prevalent at lower limits. it's hyper aggro adn built to get you off your hands by betting and raising. like nl, but just quicker and more f'n nuttier.
Do you have a chart of starting hands you follow?
sorta.
mixing it up is key.
i mean, normally utg ill open raise 55+, A9, KQ, or KJs+.
but that wont stop me from open raising something weird like 5% of the time.
you've got to understand that no matter how well you play some hands, there's no way to make them proftiable over the long run. that's why starting hand charts become popular, b/c you're only playing the "winning hands"
but hell, it's still gambling right
Or do you just play the players, and some nights you play 70% and other nights you play 30%?
i play the board more than the players. sounds odd, but unless you've proven yourself to be a complete and total idiot, then im more likely to make representative value bets due to board texture rather than the fact that i have some strange read that you're going to call down with bottom pair. 8/15/2007 9:52:49 AM |

aight, i'm pretty bored, just took some bong hits, and can't find my friends so i figured i'd type out a possible implementation of the heads up tourney idea.
Assume 16 people, all matches decided by best of 3 (#players , stacksize, and blind structure can be adjusted later).
RoundRobin round:
players draw cards to determine which of four brackets they are in. all players play all other players in their bracket top 2 move into next round (ties broken by sudden death game)
2nd round
bracket sytle tournament. seeds determined by point totals (ties broken by drawing cards)
payout could be top 3 or top 4.
tie-breaking is a little awkward but it's the best i could think of right now. any ideas?
also, i think we should open this up to more than just tww bc it doesn't seem like there's enough interest on here. i could probably get 3 or 4 more, possibly more than that. 8/20/2007 1:41:20 PM |

oh yea, i forgot to post the scoring system....
2 pts for winning 1 game of a 3 game match, -1 for losing a game.
Thus winning a 3 game dmatch 2-0 is better than winning it 2-1 and losing 1-2 is better than 0-2. should help keep point total ties at a minimum.
^and yea...i mean it's aight.

clearing bonuses now at FT makes me miss bonus whoring like crazy.
except not the 100x bonuses that are around now
but the great days of when party would have network wide 5x $200 bonuses.
you could play any limit, and be making like $60/hr 4 tabling just in bonus dollars.
then party, empire, pokernow, and eurobet would all do the same on the same weekend...
then with a couple of gnomes too
such easy money
you could clear over $1500 each time they'd release a bonus
