There's no way she went through the process of setting up a bank robbery for a toy plane. There was originally something else in the envelope in the safety deposit box. I'm thinking that maybe it contained information about Claire's baby. Kate gets that info and tracks Claire down in Australia. I'm just not sure if she was trying to get Claire on the plane or to make sure she didn't get on the plane.

I'd wager that she wasn't expecting to find the toy plane in the envelope. I think the plane was meant to be a sign to her that the things had been happening because somebody out there wanted them to happen.
