Clearly zombyness can spread to animals, such as is the case with dogs in resident evil, so how crazy would Asheboro zoo get? Zombies tend to only have base desires to do things like feed… so how would this affect herbivores? What do you do when you see a Zombie Giraffe coming your way? Pet it, or flee?

After careful consideration, why exactly are you guys bringing in breeder chicks? I know its a cool part of the fantasy group of survival people, but really, you're tripling your group size by having 2 women for every man and thus vastly decreasing you chances out outlasting the zombies.

People will survive...there are ships and islands and shit.

I only just recently had any motivation to go to Mitch's, and you're right, it would be ideal for the number of people it can sustain -- which, unfortunately, is not many. However, with some planning and a little creativity once we were in, living on the roof or in other second-story buildings could accommodate the numbers we're talking about with only minimal discomfort.

First of all, they're not "breeder chicks" exclusively; everyone brought into the hideout should have something to contribute specifically to surviving while the zombies are running around. Ergo, something unrelated to babymaking. I am therefore unable to see how this hurts our chances of survival.

Secondly, the 2:1 ratio is a question of genetic diversity and efficiency. A man can perform his role in the reproductive process at least daily, whereas as a woman can only perform hers a little more often than once a year. Thus it makes sense just from the point of view of maximizing the number of offspring.

This is to say nothing of the genetic diversity. Any given 2nd-generation zombie survivor would have 18 completely distinct genetic lines with which it could mate. In order to acheive the same thing with a 1:1 ratio, you'd have to have 19 couples, or 28 people -- only two less than the scenario I propose. However, each of the distinct lines in that case would only be half the size of the ones in mine.

look, if your building is surrounded by zombies, you aren't going to have much choice about leaving in case of fire. one entrance is a LOT easier to barricade than a building with a lot of ground level doors/windows.


(and for the record, i'm pretty sure there is an exit in the back with a metal staircase... not sure though.)

Out of curiosity, what would you say would be a sufficient amount of handgun ammo to keep on hand just in case something like this happens? We're talkin' 9mm here, but the gun does have a laser sight so I could hopefully maximize headshots.

you would need enough ammo to get you to safety. there is no preset amount.
