actually, i wish they had kept some more scaling in place. while i don't want mole rats and radroaches to require a clip of 5.56, the fact that I was one-shotting combine soldiers at the end was pretty fucking weak

levels 1-15 are much harder than anything else in the game

Next time you play it through try and up the difficulty level. Might help some.

I've noticed the display almost lags at times on my 360 likes its about to freeze up too. Almost like it's loading me into another zone but in random places.

Has anyone ever had their sleep or fast travel interrupted by some encounter happening, like in the old Fallouts?

not interrupted, but when you get to ur location, often raiders or bounty hunters are waiting for you.

I love when you come upon some raiders beating a naked raider with baseball bats in some sort of initiation ritual.

^^At some SatCom Array, right?

Yeah, I saw that and laughed, especially since I'd been waiting to enter that "door" while I took out all the raiders. There's an actual entrance somewhere nearby, though.

Maxed out on Sneak with Recon Armor (+5 sneak) and Shady Hat (+5 sneak, +1 PER)... anyone know if there's any advantage to having 110 as opposed to simply 100? In other words, is there any reason for me to keep wearing the recon armor/shady hat, or does the effective skill cap stop at 100?

it stops - you should get some armor that prevents damage

Yeah, I've been keeping the +sneak gear around just in case it helped. Also, Recon armor is decent at preventing damage. Obviously not as much as power armor, but for light armors it works well.

Probably gonna go with the armor from the Reilly's Rangers quest. I heard it's good. And gives +luck.

Does anybody know a way to talk to the crazy dude in the alley outside of Reilly's Ranger's HQ? It's the guy spewing gibberish over a loudspeaker and if you get too close, he detonates a ton of mines around him. Is there even a way to get up on the roof where he is?

probably not.

I just used my awesome speech skill to get that dude trying to pass by to talk to him.

Didn't work out well for that guy, but it cleared the path for me.

It's been discussed sporadically in this thread but after playing it first hand, I feel the need to reiterate

Tranquility lane was the most fun I've had playing a video game since beating countless unarmed scientist to a bloody pulp with a crowbar in the original half-life.

Haha. The pieces in the house that make noise (or a riff) you have to make a tune with them. You can do it with trial and error to solve it.

that armor is awesome and you can repair it with any combat armor - but like i said it doesn't look as cool as power armor

I had this happen to me while playing today.

I also had my game freeze once last night after multiple stutters, and I had to save and stop playing today because in one area the textures just disappeared and the shapes stretched to the center of my POV. I haven't seen anything like that on my 360 ever - it made me think back to when I was a PC gamer and my videocard wasn't up to snuff.

Finished the main story today. Was really really easy on normal at level 20. Going to go back and pick up achievements I missed and play a more evil path. The ending seemed to lack something though... not quite as epic as I remember 1 and 2 feeling.

I did it with trial/error but the fallout wiki says that Betty is whistling the correct note sequence or something like that. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Tranquility_Lane

** POSSIBLE SPOILER **

Finally finished the main quest. Nothing more satisfying than that final trot to the memorial; the lines my big friend were spouting off were hilarious. I was also pleasantly surprised that I could actually use my speech skill to talk down the final enemy.

I'm about half a level away from 20, and I've just been dicking around. It actually kinda sucks how easy it is to kill everything when you're at higher levels. I cant count how many Super Mutant camps I've raped.

as others have said, i'm finding it very challenging to run melee only on hard difficulty. don't think i'll finish up with the 700+ stimpacks and 400+ ice cold nuka-cola's i had on normal settings

^Almost all of the vendors carry anywhere from two to a dozen stimpaks and restock every couple days. It's gotten to the point a while back - and I'm only lvl 14 now - where I have so much heavy loot but so little to buy that I have to end up buying a shitton of stimpaks for the hell of it since there's nothing else to buy. Even after all the home add-ons and themes.

One tip for n00bs on how to make bank - always pick up items that have -- WG becasue you can always sale them to any vendor.

well, that first play through was 100 hours worth of gameplay. i discovered all 160 locations and a few of the "easter egg" locations as well. i went into every single building i could explore, opened every desk. cabinet, etc that i could find, picked up everything i saw out

i'd hit the vendor any time i maxed out on weight and headed back out

a lot of times, someone would have 2000 caps, but i'd have more than that worth to sell. so i'd go to megaton and first clean out the doctor, then i'd head to the underworld and buy ammo. i had over 11k rounds of 5.56 & 5mm by the end...6k+ shotgun rounds, etc.

you really only have to scrape by for the first 8 or so levels. i stated a new game and set out to immediately do the survival guide for the chick in megaton to get the perk (before I end up nuking the place). i already have ~80 stimpacks and 1600 caps or so. and i'm going all melee and explosives this time, so i take a lot of damage (on hard difficulty)

Important Theft Tip
--
You can steal absolutely everything that isn't nailed to the floor, including the items that are literally right under the nose of the shopkeeper, even if your sneak skill is virtually nothing. Just carry (manually pick up and move the item... don't put it in your inventory) to a dark corner where no one can see you, then take it and put it in your pack once you're [HIDDEN].

This works for basically anything in the game, though unfortunately you almost certainly won't be able to sell it in the same town (or to the same shopkeeper) that you just stole it from.

I wish Behemoths gave more XP based on the difficulty of killing them in relation to everything else. I get as much XP killing Mutant Masters as I get killing Behemoths.
