just cause you suck ass at NCAA doesnt mean i play on "freshman"

did you ever think the reason you consistently get burnt on offense and defense is because you suck?

I play professionally and fair well in scrimmages against other pros. I know I'm sick at this game.

Nah the pay sucks unless you get sponsored which is tough to do, especially now that I'm out of my prime. Its not my primary profession. I still have a profession and I'm a student. People (mainly females) don't understand so I keep it on the low. Its mainly just for fun. In 04 and 05 I won trophies for football championships. I got sponsored by microsoft and went to Atlantic City for a tournament I came in 5th out of 16 though. Still got the free trip and expenses. In the official hoops tournament in 06 I was a Bethel three away from the final four. The guy I trained with won that final four in Indy and 10k. He got invited to e3 where he got sponsored, took a semester off from unc that next fall and made about 50 grand total. In the gamestop tournament for 07 I came in third place (because i had to play on ps2 based on a stupid coin toss rule) and got $25 and a face plate. If i won there I would've gotten 100 and went a bigger tournament. Then, theres always little local/weekend stuff. For example, In 05 I went to an expo in Charlotte for a hoops tournament where i won 500 worth of stuff, and last year they had a bunch of tournaments in all kinds of games at some place down east, I won a 360 in the nba 2k7 tournament.

The real money is in FPS and madden which I don't play because the nfl has never drawn my interest. Its really not as silly as it sounds "professional gamer". We have a unique talent. If I was serious enough about it and quit my job I could go around to different places (toronto, Seattle), play in front of them and get sponsored on the spot. I have a friend in Hong Kong right now playing live because he went to ea, played for them and now they pay him to go around and compete.

Its really not as far pitched as it seems to become one. Theres alot of luck in it once you get a bunch of guys together that are all as good as they can be. The guy I told you about that won the final four did not even make the tournament of the sim league we play in every year.

pm me if you want more information.

That was vs the computer's brohm. Sure i make the player switch errors about once a game but overall I play great d on humans and I still shutout clemson and beat ville in dynasty mode

I don't know what this Maryland shit is lately but I'm not "rhyminwhoyouthinkIam".

so you're good enough to win all types of tournaments...but you're still shitty enough to get pwnt by the computer all the time

hey did they have any of those tournaments at myrtle beach? that seems like the ultimate location in the world for a video game tourney

so ive tried a bunch of new things on defense since ive been blowin it on the pass def side...and after quite a few practices and games i think ive figured that i can only run the 3-3-5 defense with a lot of blitzing. the only way ive been able to stop the cpu qb on heisman diff is pressure him all game, i still give up some big plays but im not getting methodically picked apart on D...for some reason the cbs and safeties in this game just play too lax on coverage no matter what i try

^^i try a lot of confusion...for example if im playing a safe zone/man coverage with no blitzes (except defensive line) i might show blitz just to fuck with the offense...or i'll show blitz with a linebacker and a DE on the same side and the DE will drop into coverage...various shit like that helps

I can fucking dominate shit on defense, its just my offense that sucks ass. I have allowed a LOT more points on INT returns than I have on defense

I basically made a rule to myself that I can't hit turbo on an interception return. It cuts back a lot on the defensive TDs. Of course, if I find myself in a pressure situation I usually break the rule and take it to the house.

Actually, maybe I do need to reevaluate my life. Combine this with the baseball betting and poem writing all full-time and I could have a pretty decent income at least decent for ya know, for doing fun things all the time.

so after practicing around with my new defense i go play week 2 with oregon and have to play at michigan...game ended up being an offensive onslaught from both sides with a thrilling last minute drive and td to win the game 52-48...i was sorta ok with this since Henne is one of the better qb's in the game and for the most part i shut down mike hart.

for Jaybee1200: i was lookin at a list of the top qb's in the game this year and Wilson is rated as the 15th best qb in the game, rated at a 90 overall...so thats why he was tearing you up for about 2/3 of that last game we played

recruiting tip:

SPEED

do the prospect search for 40yd dash times...you can get some BALLIN players with like 4.3 speed that might only be 3 star recruits...I got a receiver with A+ speed and acceleration as a freshman and he was murdering the slot receiver option run play

recruiting question. do all the in-season recruits sign on like an in season signing day or do some of them rollover into off season recruiting?

what % of the guys that have you #1 and you go after really hard do you normally get?

is offseason recruiting a whole seperate recruiting opportunity like last year or what?

1.) If they don't sign with anyone by the end of the regular season, they roll over to off-season and any work you've done with them carries over too.

2.) Depends. Usually if they have you #1 and you work their recruiting right you can land them. You just have to make sure you show them attention and hit their highest rated categories and get them in for a good game on their visit. You can be in their top spot by a land-slide and it can still take you into the post-season to get them.(found out 1st hand with a few players last season)

3.) The player pool is the same for the regular season AND post-season. Unlike previous years where you could go after 5-stars during the regular season and get bailed out in the offseason by a new player pool, this year it's one pool of players and you have to get on the good ones early. I have seen where you can still snatch up some 4-stars in just the 5-week period in the post-season without talking to them in the regular season, but it just depends on who is interested in you.

yeah, I still really dont get recruiting.

-Why does it sometimes give you an option to offer a scholarship, but sometimes doesnt? I thought it might be something like if you are in their top 3 then you can offer but that hasnt always been the case

-Once the little mood thing has the big ass smile should you stop? or should you continue and try to figure out all of the pitches?

-If something isnt important should you leave that topic alone or should you keep working on it to make it important?

i thought the only time you couldnt offer scholarships were off you already offered them a scholarship or if you don't have any more to offer

and focus on their highest recruiting wants..."Most", "Very High", "High"...I wouldn't really even mess with others much...maybe an occasional "Above Average" but stick to their high ones

also lets say you need an outside linebacker so you add a few OLBs to your recruiting board...now lets say since you need OLBs, your recruiting tool "Early Playing Time" is "Elite"...Elite is basically like "Most"...if you recruit an OLB and pitch them early playing time and it comes back like "Very Low" well that just sucks for you

thats odd...should say you have "25 scholarships remaining" or whatever...offering a scholarship takes maybe 20-30 minutes of your recruiting 10 hours each week but no idea why you can't offer scholarships

I just started my third season, and my first 2 recruiting classes looked like:
6 5-stars, 4 4-stars, and 11 3-stars
1 5-star, 15 4-stars, and 4 3-stars

My new class I just started has a lot of 5-star interest, but who knows if those will play out. What always pisses me off is when you're leading for a 5-star for a while and then you slide to 2nd and you can never seem to regain the #1 spot. Basically if you're in the top 3 for a 5-star and make it to the off-season, just schedule your in-home first week and see if there is a promise you can offer them that matches one of their needs, you should be able to pick them up.(I tried this with a 5-star OLB my first season and managed to get him despite being in 3rd on his list)

I went 7-6 in year 1. Now in Year 2 I am 7-1 w/ the only loss being a 1 pt loss to LSU at home playing in a monsoon... yet I'm STILL unranked. Pissing me off...

Burke had his best game yet last game. 22-31 for 335 yards, 3 TDs and only 1 INT in a 31-27 W @ Clemson... I got FSU next so hopefully with a win I'll get to the Top 25..

In my 2nd season with Ball State I got to the MAC title game...my record was 12-0 going into the game and I was ranked #3 in the nation since all my OOC games were strong ranked opponents...and in the MAC title game I played Bowling Green...also 12-0...and #4 in the nation

haha the fucking MAC was the only conference with two teams in the BCS top 5

That's interesting...Bowling Green was undefeated in my 2nd season as well. But they got destroyed in their bowl game. I would up as the only undefeated team (Navy), but still finished 3rd behind 1-loss Texas (beat an undefeated Va Tech in the NC) and 1-loss Michigan (Won Rose Bowl). I beat UGA in the Sugar Bowl. Killin 'em with that option baby!

I did experience first hand picking up a top recruit when it looks like you have no shot.

I was working on a 5-star RB who I never was in their top-3 list (when I found him and his minimal interest, I was #5 in interest). He went into the offseason uncdommitted, and I threw the kitchen sink at him...national championship, Frosh AA, and TV time. He was ready to visit in week 2 and signed after I got an A+ on my trip to see him. So it can in fact happen when you have no chance.

Now I just have to back it all up!

Well, FSU throttled me once Burke went down. I was up 14-3 and then got outscored 35-3 the rest of the game after Burke got injured. My Frosh AA RB fumbled in the red zone twice and Evans had a shitty ass game.

7-2 and still unranked going into the home finale against BC and then on the road @ Maryland and @ Colorado to finish it out.

just finished up my first season with Oregon(on heisman diff.), went 13-0 and won the national champ. game against West Va(i destroyed Slaton in the first half and put him out of the game with an injury)...had some awesome close finishes, at Michigan, against UCLA and Cal, and actually pretty handedly beat USC at their place i think it was.

i did a bit better than my previous attempts at recruiting, couldnt get any 5* recruits but did something like 13 4* recruits and 10 3* recruits, i thought i had 2 5* recruits in the bag since i was no 1 on the list the entire season and then they changed their minds at the drop of an ugly win i had against some middle class pac-10 team

start of the 2nd season im going for a lot more 5* recruits since i still havent signed 1 in my 4 attempts at playing dynasty...prob a bad idea

question to you guys who are playing dynasty...has anyone noticed that there is a glitch or fuck up in the depth chart option? not sure if this has been pointed out before but on my game when i go to change a guy from the top box, the bottom box to select from automatically sorts the players from the worst to best, so i have to manually sort them back to best to worst (by overall stat)...its a bit strange and ive never seen this on previous ncaa's
