It's amazing how all those players suddenly got so much less talented and skilled once Marty, Cam Cameron, and Wade Phillips left. Who would have thought that Philip Rivers could have gone from Pro Bowler to "bench Rivers!!!!!!1" in a single offseason. Surely it couldn't have to do with QB "guru" and career record of 63-86 (58-82 before the season started for a stellar .423 career winning percentage) head coach Norv Turner! No, I'm sure the team is just as well prepared and mentally focused, clearly all the players just went to shit.
The NFL is really one of the places coaching shows up the most. You can pretty much put anybody on the Yankees bench and expect to win 90 games with that talent, but not just anybody is going to be able to coach a football team to a winning record in the NFL. Yes, there are talent disparities, but does anyone honestly think that Buffalo is on the same level talent-wise as Buffalo? 11/12/2007 12:57:50 PM |

The team has looked damn good in the first half of every game except the Pats game. They were up 23-0 early against Indy, 35-3 at the half against Houston, and were leading at halftime in 3 of the 4 losses.
They just go to shit in the 2nd half. I think maybe they are out of shape.

They've got Norv-itis.
Clearly you should ditch a coach that has disappointed in the playoffs for a coach that can't get to the playoffs (I know they can back in thanks to the performance of the rest of the division). 11/12/2007 3:51:56 PM |

I don't know, Priv played pretty well. The announcers made it seem like Naanee ran the wrong route on the last pick to end the game. And on the first pick, he was rolling out and pressured I believe. 11/18/2007 8:56:08 PM |

Quote : | "Off and running The players have been asking for it for weeks, but Norv Turner resisted for various reasons (playing in a dome, playing the wrong type of team) until Sunday. “Our guys felt it would help them against Baltimore,” Turner said. “And it was something, in terms of personnel groupings, that would fit. At times it hasn't been the best thing for us.”
The Chargers offense went with its modified no-huddle for most of the 32-14 victory over the Ravens. It's something the Chargers did a lot of the previous two seasons but had not done this year.
“Everyone kind of said (last week), 'Let's give it a shot and see if that can get us going,' ” Philip Rivers said. “I like it. It's real good if you're getting first downs.”
It's probably not a coincidence the offense scored its second-most points of the season and most in six weeks.
Now that the Chargers have it going, the no-huddle could become a weapon to combat the noise Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. On the road, the crowd noise rises as the visiting offense breaks the huddle. If there's no huddle, sustaining the noise becomes difficult.
“The fans can't stay in a frenzy the whole time,” center Nick Hardwick said. “It definitely helps us.”" |

So, we know part of the reason they won last week. Baltimore sucks, and they didn't use Norv Turner to call as many of their plays... PR just turned on the laser vision.11/30/2007 11:37:26 AM |

Merriman had 3 sacks on the day, giving him 10 for the year. He's been beastly the last 2 games.
Antonio Cromartie is leading the league with 8 interceptions. He should be a pro-bowler, although the voters might screw him over because he wasn't a starter until 3 weeks ago.
That defense looked nasty, and the running game finally took off. If they can build on the momentum from that game, look out. They might make some noise in the playoffs. They don't have much of a chance at beating the Pats in Foxboro, but I could see them going to Indy or Pittsburgh and pulling an upset. 12/2/2007 5:01:44 PM |

Well on the bright side, with Denver losing to Oakland it looks like they've all but wrapped up their division. Unfortunately, their division is terrible and they still aren't playing well enough to beat any of the other AFC playoff contenders. 12/2/2007 6:59:12 PM |
