these last two episodes have been absolutely horrible and I think the show is headed down a path to suckage. I think they are giving in to people wanting answers quick and coming up with lame answers just to satisfy people. There are no more cliff hangers, no more suspense, no more wtf just happened to end episodes. I know its only been 2 episodes like this but thats not what lost is about. The show is getting gay.
And all you "i called michael on the boat" used spoilers and posted them with no warning. I hate reading this thread because you guys do research outside of watching the show to find out who each episode is about and when certain characters are coming back to the show just so you can have the glory of "calling" something in this thread before it happens when in reality you are just posting a spoiler pretending to be "guessing". LAME. 3/14/2008 2:07:09 PM |

Are you kidding me? Its called pay off. We have been watching Lost for a few years, and RARELY get any answers. And when we get answers, it leads us down another rabbit hole. I, for one, am appreciating some answers. I like these episodes.3/14/2008 2:24:02 PM |

If you watch the previews for next week then you see that Ben asks "What will a man do for the life of his son?" and you see Michael pushing a button...
obviously Ben still has Walt somehow and Michael is doing his bidding because of it....
Michael is by far my least favorite character.... talk about zero nutsack....

ya ben is basically jigsaw. they stole the idea from that. what most people can't comprehend is the fact that michael didn't leave the island and go directly to the boat. he most likely went to the real world and got the job on the boat before it departed. 3/14/2008 7:11:45 PM |

So Dharma, a company that can build all this shit on a remote Island, wouldn't have the funding to fake a single plane crash? And you don't think Oceanic would have the motive to coverup a story of one of their planes dissappearing?

one of the things I've been wondering is how Michael got on the boat, without walt. It obviously makes no sense that the freighter would pick him up off of that small boat they set out from the island on, so he must have boarded or been hired while on the mainland. Given the timeline, it would be very difficult to get all the way back to land somewhere, find something to do with Walt, get in touch with Ben, and work his way onto the boat - all within about a month of leaving the island.
i like this theory
Quote : | "Where is Walt? I’m thinking Walt was never on the Freighter. While cleaning carpets yesterday (ah, the glamorous life of a Blogger), an idea popped into my head that might tie a lot of storylines together. What if the coordinates that Ben provided Michael lead him to a “warp”, a la Super Mario Bros. level 1-2? So he heads for bearing 325, hits the Bubble and suddenly BAM – he’s right off the coast of New York City? This would give him time to drop off Walt, THEN be contacted by Ben in the real world convincing him to join and sabotage the Freighter crew, and get on the Freighter before it leaves, making him less suspicious when stuff starts breaking on the boat and the communication room gets trashed. The timeline for all of this is tight (about a month), but it would make the most sense.
If you want to get really crazy, you could say that the warp not only moved Michael and Walt in space, but also in time (only fools are enslaved by time and space, anyone?) – padding the timeline a bit.
This “warp” theory also would explain the Dharma Polar Bear that ended up in Tunisia, and maybe explain how the Others are able to exploit their knowledge of these warps to amass massive funds through gambling on sports events (a la Back to the Future II), make quick trips around the world when required to videotape kids playing in a park (creepy Richard Alpert!) or recruit newbies to the Island… and provide a pretty obvious reason why the Freightors would want Ben (and his knowledge), but are willing to kill everyone else in order to take control of such a power." |

There used to be 24 episodes a season, now theres 16, so yes its more concise, but the plot is still deep, and you're still an idiot.
Also the michael thing was obvious even without spoilers. I haven't watched, or read a one. In fact, this year is the first year i've let myself watch the previews for next weeks episode. If you didn't know that it was michael then be mad at yourself for being a moron, and not mad at everyone else for ruining it for you.

Michael probably got off the island using the Submarine that Ben had at one time before Locke blew it up. Ben sent him off the island because he had leveraging material using Walt as a hostage. Ben knows what's going on in the real world from current events and whatever so he most likely knew that Penny's dad is trying to find the island.
I bet Penny's dad is equivalent to Ben in money standards and power and Ben maybe stole the idea, map or whatever to the island. So Penny's dad is upset and determined to find Ben and the island. Penny's dad and Ben probably started the Dharma initiative.
Can anyone tell me what the significance of the logo of the island and the reflection of a city mean? I might have missed this in previous replies in the post. 3/18/2008 7:35:43 AM |

^^ what? Michael and Walt left on that small boat at the end of S2. are you saying they were intercepted, and given the sub to get away, then Ben brought the sub back to the island, then Locke blew it up? The question isn't really how Michael got off the island - we saw him leave. It's the timeline of how the got from the island to the mainland, then got hooked up with the freighter people.
And Ben didn't start the Dharma initiative - we saw in S3 that Ben was brought to the island while he was a kid in the 70s, during the heyday of the initiative. He later killed everyone and took over for himself.
have you watched before this season?
what logo are you talking about

Maybe Walt just grew up and changed his name to Kevin Johnson?
I don't think Locke destroyed the submarine. He submerged it and made it look like it blew up, and next episode he's gonna pilot it (by himself) and torpedo the Freighter (by shoving an actual grenade in Miles' mouth and putting him in the launch tube.)
Hurley steals the satellite phone and calls the Ghostbusters, who come to the island and capture Jacob.
Then Hiro comes and teleports everyone to their coffins because the island is actually Purgatory.
At the very end of the episode Desmond wakes up next to Penny and realizes Seasons 1-3 were all just a dream and Bruce Willis was dead the whole time. 3/18/2008 4:36:18 PM |

It can't be Kate, Jack, or Aaron (Kate says she has to get back to "him", assuming she's talking about Aaron), which leaves Sayid, Hurley (no way), and Sun. Judging by the size of the casket, I'm guessing it can't be any of the Oceanic Six (aside from Aaron, whom I'm ruling out).
Maybe it's Sun's kid?
We'll find out this season, apparently. 3/18/2008 8:38:04 PM |

Also, the fact that we know part of the persons name in the coffin kinda rules out any of the Oceanic 6 too.
Remember the newspaper clipping? You could make out part of the name and we know it was a man who died.

Quote : | ""The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.
Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.
Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.
According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.
Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening." " |
This also shoots down some speculation I have seen from reading old posts in this thread about how Jack didn't go to the bridge to kill himself, but instead to see where the person in the coffin died. It is clear this is not the case. He was obviously there to either kill himself by jumping, or for some other reason.
