Ok, this might not be true. Remember that if Kobe had his way, Andrew Bynum would have been traded for Jason Kidd 6/19/2008 11:38:39 AM |

Wonder if Kobe feels any worse knowing that many people saw him shit a brick and tarnish his legacy?? 6/19/2008 3:36:51 PM |

hahaha I wonder if Kobe could've won a title if you gave him Garnett and Allen (the answer is obvious)
seriously though I think this series really humbled Kobe on some "regardless of the fact that you're the best player on the planet, thats not enough to carry a team to an NBA Championship" shit...see what happens next year...put 290 pound Andrew Bynum at the 5 and let 7-foot Pau Gasol play PF and move Lamar Odom back to the 3...scary good] 6/19/2008 4:35:07 PM |

Odom playing the 3 next year is probably the biggest obstacle to the Lakers being a contender. He's simply not good enough of a shooter for that. They'd be better off keeping Radmonovic in the starting line up and bringing Odom off the bench to back up Gasol at the 2. They pay him too much to not be a starter though. IMO, they should try work a trade involving Odom, and attempt to acquire Tayshaun Prince or maybe even Ron Artest.
^^I'm sure the millions of dollars, his hot wife, and a bright future for the Lakers kept him from getting too bummed 6/19/2008 4:45:05 PM |

Kobe dished the ball too much, he just needs to make the plays we all know he can make. 6/19/2008 4:46:39 PM |

He had enough to beat the Celtics. There's a reason why I think it was about 70/30 in the experts picking the Lakers (and the fact that they pretty much ran through the Western Conference playoffs, which was the strongest its ever been). I give a shit-ton of credit to the Celtics, but Kobe and the Lakers laid a fucking egg. And you can't put the whole blame on the rest of his team, because with the exception of one game and two good first quarters, he played like shit for most of the series.
^Yeah...I'm sure he's doing fine with life in general. But as a basketball player, this shit is eating him up. He has a HUGE ego...and it just took a brutal beating. He missed two big opportunities...(1) to win one without Shaq, and (2) to get closer to Jordan status. He just got knocked down a few rungs.6/19/2008 4:49:24 PM |

I say 5 or 6 before he turns in to Washington Wizards-style Jordan. 6/19/2008 4:53:13 PM |

The only thing I blame Kobe for is allowing the 24 point lead meltdown game. He should have been able to do something to prevent that. They win that game, it could have been a completely different series going back to Boston.
At the end of the day though, I give credit to the Celtics for putting the onus on Kobe's teammates to deliver. They didn't and the Lakers lost. Plain and simple.

years 1-3: kobe wins 3 titles
years 4-5: kobe takes 1.5 years off; Scot Pippen Jr. helps the Lakers remain a contender
years 6-7: kobe comes back from retirement and leads the wizards to 2 straight titles 6/19/2008 4:54:36 PM |
