just saw our new band lineup...what's that gonna be, progressive/blackened death-grind? As long as we rape souls I don't care. I guess I'll go ahead and kick out the other band that shares our studio to make room for the dancer cages

Yes. This will so happen. I'm so glad this thread was made. I just realized that we need a synth player.

Same here, on both accounts. I'm working 8-5 instead of my usual shift of 10-7 this week to cover for others on vacation. Also, this time of year is really slow. The days are long when spent in front of a desk trying to occupy yourself on the internet.

bill ourselves as a cover band and only play songs most of society has never heard anyway.

so, anyone else in here have placeholder titles for songs when they are writing? Our lyrics always come last and our real titles come after the lyrics are done. I remember the fun conversations with the writing of the last CD...and it got old saying "lets practice the new new song...no not that one thats not finished, the 3rd song..the one with this part in it" etc.

For this album we've mainly just been writing it with the 2 guitars and about half the time with the drums there as well so no lyrics upfront which means no titles so ive ended giving all of our songs a working title so we know exactly which song we are talking about since we are roughly 6 songs in at least guitarwise. The titles have generally come from some random idea or thought I had while we were playing the parts over and over or something related to the day we started the song. I think my favorite so far is "The Quest for the Crystal Chalice in F# Minor" dedicated to our mario strikers binge in between writing for that song

mainly this was just a bump

In response to your odd categorizing ways, my band just numbers our songs and then names them as soon as we write lyrics; this, however, causes a problem because, I, being the drummer, memorize the numbers rather than the names so that when they call out a song title at a show, they have to tell me what number it is after the fact.

^^ haha thats how our bass player is...He still just knows the songs on our EP by track number and not by name I think. I have a feeling he is going to get confused once we title these songs for real. Heck, maybe as a band we'll just use all the working titles when composing set lists with songs from this album.

^^^ we had a similar method (back when i had a ~hardcore band), except some songs were called something random. we had one song that we just called "click click" because that's how our drummer started it. after a while not even our singer knew it's real name.
