"Worried about the power of the reform movement, the organization turned to Richard J. Daley, who brought the Cook County Democratic Organization to the height of its power and notoriety. Daley took the reins of the machine in 1955, and successfully put himself on the machine's slate for mayor. He won election fairly easily, and ruled the city and machine for the next twenty years.

The most famous example of the Chicago machine in action was in the 1960 presidential election.

Daley believed John F. Kennedy would be a tremendous help to Democratic candidates on the ticket, and so he used all the machine's power to turn out the vote for Kennedy.

Kennedy won Illinois by only 9,000 votes, yet won Cook County by 450,000 votes, with some Chicago precincts going to Kennedy by over 10 to 1 margins.

Illinois' 27 electoral votes helped give Kennedy the majority he needed.

They both said to digitize health records. It's a no-brainer when considering the ridiculous administrative costs of health care.

Obama is leading in many battlegrounds in every and all demographics according to the polls and you say Obama will win simply because of black voters. You are ridiculous, I'll be laughing at you in November.

Amazingly, as if almost by magic, this is already being done by the free market. See companies like Misys.

http://www.misyshealthcare.com/default.htm

I don't know how much this will actually bring down administrative costs (you go from having filing offices to having energy sucking data centers), but it will probably lead to better/more effective health care.

I'm not sure why the government really needs to be involved with this.

You missed the boat, my friend. It's kinda already being done and it's kinda the end game of electronic medical records.

Quote :
"Misys Connect provides a Web-based, interoperable clinical data viewer and data sharing infrastructure that connects clinical systems, regardless of vendor. The result is the creation of a longitudinal electronic health record that spans across care settings and the community of care providers. "

he made it sound like just putting it out there for the masses

it needs to be headed up by a SECURE and reliable resource

i know that its more efficient i simply meant that just doing it isnt enough

" and? was obama even born yet?"

nope, but he was given political office in return for ensuring the success of democratic candidates. chicagos districts were divided among ethnic groups and neighborhoods. neighborhood leaders answered to district leaders, and so on until the top. it ensured political success for those who helped keep the machine running. its origins go back to the days of mafia control and ran on a similar hierarchy. the person at the top had ultimate control and had his hands in every facet of local politics. money was fraudulent and used to appease illinois superior court judges, press, and crooked national democratic politicians who wanted payments for keeping his machine squeaky clean. as long as daley raised money, legally or not, he kept the corruption running.

obama kept the votes democratic, and supplied the machine with any money he could .. while his neighborhood suffered ... he ran unopposed for community organizer, since he was appointed before the election took place. he befriended several other "appointed" officials higher on the political ladder who noticed his academic accomplishments. when he ultimately ran for the state senate, millions of dollars were given to his campaign while his neighborhood continued to fall apart and reach alltime lows.

through friendships and associations with the most politically corrupt slumlords in the country, obamas climb up the political ladder was nontraditional and instant. he was part of the machine, funded by the machine, and still had to appease the leaders who maintained political control over all political decisions.

widespread voting fraud, millions of dollars of dirty money passed, sworn allegiance to corruption remained, and legislative policies were initiatives dictated by the machine that got obama to the top, kept him at the top while keeping his neighborhood in poverty

the same machine stuffed ballot boxes with thousands of fraudulent ballots ensuring the needed electoral votes for kennedys win .. while also laundering millions to his campaign. these are obamas associations and political influences ... and that will not change

IF OBAMA WINS ITS ONLY BECAUSE OF THE DARKIES!!! HE'LL PUT THEIR NO CAR HAVING POOR ASSES ON TOUR BUSSES AND TAKE THEM TO THE POLLS TO VOTE FOR HIM. IT'S A GOOD THING FOR MCCAIN THAT WHITE PEOPLE HAVE CARS SO HE WON'T HAVE TO TAKE THEM TO THE POLLS LIKE OBAMA IS GONNA HAVE TO DO.

You are right socks this is already being done by the free market. Now if the Fing govt would update THIER system on how we get reimbursed that would be a bigger help. I hate the idea that EVERYTHING has to go through govt as obama says.

I just wanted to say that mccain is a fucking idiot. He put the nail in his coffin right from the start with having the govt buy up the mortgages. Well this is what we get for nominating a givemecrat. I guess he is just trying to keep up with obamas giveaways.

Does anyone see the irony that when discussing the bailout obama says that businesses need to be able to borrow this money so they can continue to make payroll and keep jobs.. etc. McCain missed the oppportunity to say, well if they dont have enough money to pay thier employees that they need to borrow it.. why raise thier taxes?

Probably because McCain is not a disingenuous tool unless trained to be one? These loans are short term and are paid back by revenue for that month. They are made because the business doesn't have to cash to make payroll all at once -- not particularly because of high taxes. Given the real reason businesses take these loans, turning this debate moment into an attack didn't cross his mind.

In a similar moment of "irony," mccain was talking about the new tax on health benefits and mentioned that 95% of people to pay less under his plan and 5% with gilded policies (that cover hair plugs... ) would pay more. Sound like Obama's tax policy, to me.

Mccains attacks aren't going to work as long as the economy is tanking. People just don't give a shit about rumor and innuendo right now.

I saw the bug-eyed woman.

There was also a weird young guy who stuck out to me. He had a real close haircut, chubby, with a white shirt on. The whole time he just stared off into the nonexistent distance. I couldn't tell if he was stupid or stoned.

Matterfact, the whole audience was kinda creepy.

As soon as Barry starts saying "française" or "Afg-ahn-e-sthan", I will actually believe he is a wordly soul instead of subtlety trying to make up for his own lack of foreign policy experience.

PS* My wife says it makes him sound like a secret muslim. I don't disagree.

^^What I get out of that is that Obama talks a lot, and really makes sure to get his talking points out there even if he has the eloquence to disguise them better than McCain / Palin.

In all fairness I thought that Obama did a great job yesterday, and other than being a bit too loquacious and having to get the last word in on every point, he impressed me. The dude is flat-out lying when he says he's proposing to cut more than he proposes to spend, however.

Not trying to defend Obama or anything, but he was pronouncing "Pakistan" correctly. It has nothing to do with being muslim.

^ Like I said, if he wants to use that argument then he needs to say "française" instead of "France". One is correct, the other is not. So what makes Pokestahn special?

Now, I don't actually believe he's a secret Muslim (i was trying to get everyone's goat and it worked), but I do believe he is using rhetoric and pronunciation to subtly over come his substantive lack of foreign policy experience. Trying to look more worldly than he actually is. In truth, he has barely been outside the country in his adult life.

Actually, it's pronounced.
"France ([f?æns] (help·info) or /f??ns/, French pronunciation: [f??~s]),"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France

If you want to do this in true phonetics.

But really you just want to piss and and moan about something else because you know the truth. Barry has 0 foreign policy experience and has barely traveled outside the US during his adult life.

And as usual, he is trying to make up for substance with words.
