OK, maybe it's just ebony. Seeing more and more posts about it with reference to just ebony armor. So I guess the perk won't be wasted by the time I get my dragon armor.

For "mage armor" does one need to unequip boots and bracers?

Mage armor is worthless. The best mage items are light armor. Not saying the spells that buff your armor are worthless but that perk is wasted.

I guess once you have max enchanting you could make clothes with great enchants.

I think the mage armor perk is fine, and the archmage robes are baller. The only light armor that's really that good for mages I've found is Moreaki's mask but magicka regen is slowed down so much in combat that it's just as good to use +magicka items.

Although when the mod tools come out I will make those spells last longer. It's not so much that it's too much magicka to spend on protection but it's annoying to have to cast it over and over in a dungeon. Especially the master level spell. It gives great protection but it takes 5 seconds to cast and only lasts 45 seconds.

I've started to notice that my game is getting "laggy" (fps skipping) recently. I did a search and found this:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/326411/skyrim-ps3-players-report-crippling-lag/

Quote :
"It is being widely reported that PS3 Skyrim players are running into severe lag when their game save files exceed 5-6MB on their console's hard-drive.

Multiple users have been flagging up the issue on Bethesda's forums, while our pals at Official PlayStation Magazine UK have also run into problems over the last few days.

Players are citing unplayable lag, and not being able to interact with NPCs or complete quests once stored save data surpasses a certain level. Have you had any similar problems?

OPM UK editor Tim Clark said: "I first started encountering serious lag at around the 25-hour mark, and since then it's been the same: I boot up, play for an hour or so, then the framerate gets choppier until I ultimately need to restart the PS3. I'd actually already noticed that the file was creeping up in size every time I saved."

According to Tim, restarting your machine appears to fix the lag (although seemingly only for an hour or so), while turning off the auto save feature also helps. "It's frustrating though," he added, "I'm bonkers for the game and don't want the experience soured by it turning into a flickbook. Bethesda surely have to patch it with a fix."

Bethesda said earlier this week that a patch addressing issues for all versions of the RPG stunner is coming soon."

Going to have to turn off the auto-save feature. Hopefully that will help.

Sounds like a memory issue.

Would be a mega-fail for a game this awesome to have a problem where you couldn't play more than 30 hours.

Well on PC at least it continues to count even if you're saving over.

I've got 65 saves but only about 15 save slots (over 4 characters).

I wish this game had different save folders for different characters, like Mass Effect for example.

For PC users, you can edit the ini file to remove the auto saves, or alter the interval. Takes a minute. You can do so much in the ini files for PC, it's very customizable.

For example, I have twice the draw distance than any console version of Skyrim, with high definition textures as well. Hax.

So, I just started the game, and even before it asked about saving data or trophy loading, a PS3 screen came up and said "The data is corrupted."

I continued from where I left off last night (thankfully), but my gameplay settings reset. No inverted Y-axis, no subtitles, mid-level brightness.

I turned off all the saving, so I'll just have to either not die, or save often.

Yeah, I'm approaching 500 saves (only like 8-9 actual slots) and I haven't noticed any slowdown.

I was just thinking yesterday this has got to be the least buggy Bethesda game and that hardly nobody had said anything about bugs, and now this entire page is nothing but people discussing them.

Jinx.

Im more pissed at the joke of a system they call a UI. Bugs happen, especially in games this big. Glaring failures like this games UI system (PC) are simply incompetence or apathy trying to hit a deadline.

That's agile software development for you.

There are several UI mods out there that address the UI problems on skyrimnexus.

Only time it happens to me is when I kill a dragon as a part of a quest that I've already killed. For example I killed a dragon for a bounty at one of the marked dragon peaks, then later on I get a quest to kill the same dragon from Farkas of the companions. The dragon is there but I don't get the soul.

^^word

^ you should get a soul every time. It has happened to me multiple times on simple random spawn dragons.

Different experiences then I guess, never had a random spawn not give me a soul but the situation I described has happened to me multiple times. After the 2nd time I actually knew it wasn't going to give me a soul before I took the quest but I still did it because I needed scales more than souls (sitting on 10 souls with nothing to spend them on right now )

So from my experience the bug is, if not rare, at least isolated.

This isnt quite what i was looking for. It seems to just be a working hotkey manager.

Here is one that is a slight improvement:

http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=667

I am more looking for mods that do away with the horrible scrolling list of stuff and make items sort able, easier to identify, etc

A mod that makes your quest UI actually useful would be nice too. Sortable by quest giver, location, etc

Yeah, I was on foot, couldn't keep up even though he seemed to stop just on the horizon to wait for me. Eventually he didn't.

I just found an underground cave. Not like one of those tunnel style caves, just one big open area. The thing is huge. Beyond huge. I'm essentially lost at this point.

Blackreach is pretty much the coolest dungeon ever. I found all the crimson nirnroot, but I ate one before I knew I was supposed to keep all of them. I hope they grow back so I can turn all 30 of them into that random NPC.

I just started a new character to try some other things. I've never swung a weapon or smithed anything before. (first character is pure battlemage)

It's an entirely different gaming experience as a toe-to-toe stalwart. Very cool.

The reward is lame as fuck for all the work you had to do anyway. Every other playthrough I ignore that garbage.

Yeah, you miss out on a whole huge portion of the game by playing a mage. No kill animations, no blocking, staggering, dodging, etc.

Yeah that quest line for the mage college is pretty fun. +200% magic regen after you're done, and all I have to wear is a death eater mask with a poncho? Sign me up!

No, you get the soul no matter who kills the dragon. Otherwise I'd try and kill everyone in the area before even starting on the dragon to ensure they didn't get in that last hit. I know the locals did more to kill that first dragon than I did and I got the soul. Once I gave Lydia a couple of powerful staffs and she had a dragon down all by herself within 5 seconds, I was still sitting there trying to notch the first arrow but got the soul.

Didn't they confirm a bug and release a patch for rare instances where you don't get the soul after killing a dragon? Tells me if you don't get one then it is a bug, and also tells me that you may not have that problem after the patch.

I got the crimson ninroot quest, but not to the point where I figured out you need 30. You say the reward isn't worth it, what's the reward?

Also, what's the reward for collecting all those masks and replacing them? I haven't placed the first mask yet, I haven't even put on the wooden mask to trigger the quest (I found it and read online). I've got a nice collection going, maybe 8 masks or so. Some of those masks have decent bonuses, it would truly suck to give up all those masks on some sort of quest that only gives you a +15% magic regen ring or something completely lame.

The nirnroot quest is just some lore and a book that doesn't even give you any stat increase. worth like 200g I think.

As for the masks, this is what you get: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Konahrik

Thanks for the info. The bonuses for the mask quest reward might have been useful in the beginning of the game, now I think I'd rather have some of the bonuses from keeping the individual masks.
