BC beat us in Sid's first year, in Raleigh

since then (the 06-07 season), the home team has won every single game

Wouldn't Painter seem to be the obvious one? Lowe has (thankfully) started playing him very little. Ever since Tracy came back, Lowe is playing him a couple minutes in the first half and sitting him in the second. Howell is now getting minutes at the 4 and the 5, cutting Painter's minutes even more. Since Painter and Hodge were tight, it makes since that he would bitch to Hodge about playing time.

His defensive effort is still lacking (really bad about losing his man on the perimeter) He has started busting his ass going after rebounds. The refs don't seem to like him very much (two technicals already in his career) which would indicate he is still bitching. I just think he needs someone to scream at him Bobby Knight style.

It might, except if you follow Hodge on Twitter, Painter is Hodge's golden boy. All Hodge could talk about over the summer was how beastly Painter is and how hard he was working.

Damn I have been waaaaaaaaaay more upset after State games. We competed on the road against what could be one of the better teams in the ACC (at this point who the fuck knows). There are positives to be taken from this game.

I've said it before, but I think the weak defensive effort in the freshmen is more due to the fact that they didn't play much D in high school. Don't think it's laziness for Leslie.... he's just not skilled on D.

I'd say he'll get better, but he'll probably go pro...so yeah

Leslie is playing hard and working hard, its obviously not him.

Painter isnt the one bitching, he is a workout warrior he turned himself into skinny and awful to a marginal player in offseason. He will be good either this year or next.

It's Javi, obviously. Not only are Hodge's comments pointed toward Javi, he is obviously the only player on the team that has regressed. It all adds up.

^^I agree they were talking about that especially with Harrow. How in highschool he was coached to "not get fouls" fuck these damn highschool coaches not teaching fundamentals.
I am a little disturbed at Leslie's technicals though.

^^Without any inside knowledge, I can see Javi pouting about PT with the arrival of harrow.

Javi is seeing less and less time, and he's been starting for 4 years.

Pretty sure that's who he's referring to.

Harrow should be getting more time. Tell Javi when he can start playing D and create a scoring threat, he can have more PT

I think Hodge might be talking about Tracy Smith. He isn't playing much defense, clearly out of shape, missed more games than most would after being cleared and tends to disappear if he isn't touching the ball.

My guess is that it's also a result of having a superstar athlete. Face it, when you have Brown, Harrow, or Leslie on your H.S. team...you usually win by eleventy points becuase those guys drop 30-40 per night. You don't HAVE to play defense...just spend all your time creating plays to get your star the ball. They're also the big man on campus primadonna, so I bet HS coaches have thier work cut out trying to teach them to play defense (Offense is sexier and more schools take notice)

Just my opinion

I am getting sick of seeing Javi pouting on his way to the bench when Harrow comes in to spark the offense. At this point I say you run Harrow at PG as much as you can and have Brown sub for him. I know Javi isn't the only problem, but I get so sick of seeing dumbass mental mistakes like not knowing what the shot clock says or getting beat by a guy and immediately fouling him. We always start off slowly, and personally I feel like that could be addressed by starting Harrow and pushing the ball immediately out of the gate.

I haven't seen the minutes from our games, but I'm guessing that as the ACC schedule loomed, Javi got less and less minutes while Harrow got more and more.

Maybe Javi will bitch enough to get into Lowe's doghouse and he'll get even less

+1 to Sid's credibility if he sat Javi out next game....not like it hurts us anyway. We've got a better PG on the bench.

I figured the only reason Javi was still starting is so he wouldn't be completely useless when he came in. At this point I think he needs to be put firmly in the backup PG position (not starting) to get it into his head that he is entitled to nothing.

I think Javi comes in to backup Harrow in a limited role. You can't BENCH Javi IMO, and Brown is too careless with the ball at this point to play PG.

If Javi bitches about being benched for a freshmen his senior year, give him Greg Paulus' number

^ Yup, and he's been doing that for 4 years. He's pouting now becuase we actually have a viable option behind him and he just doesn't understand it.

As bad as Javi was, Julius Mays was worse. I've never seen a PG that couldn't dribble with his left hand.

Harrow will only continue to take Javi's minutes as the season wears on...especially with attitude problems

On a different note, Reggie Jackson is sick as shit. He looked NBA quick. Could turn on a dime and accelerate instantly.

He made Lo Brown look stupid quite a few times. On that play in the first half, I think he turned the corner on our entire team and got a layup before anyone had even noticed him.

I also remember him dribbling all the way from the wing, under the goal, and back out to the 3-point line at one point in the game.

Our defense made him look pretty damn good, but he's a very good player regardless

I hate that we lost this game. This was like the clemson game in FB. They did everything to give us the game, and we didn't pull away.

Then, our coach consciously made the decision to lose the game on purpose

This.

There was one play about 8 minutes in or so that Tracy just looked lazy on the court. Maybe it's still getting his legs but it was so early in the game and during his major struggle of a start that he just let his man grab an offensive board in front of him put it back. It was shades of Costner. Lowe made a sub immediately after and I thought for sure he was going to pull Tracy for lack of effort -- but he didn't.

It's hard to really get on him though since he's still recovering.

Haha, wow... why again is this team in the ACC? That is putrid. That has to be one of the worst ever ACC attendances..

Tracy is one of the few players on our team that can complain about PT and not get immediately reprimanded due to injury. Jules was talking about Javi when referring to the sub that lost our momentum, but Jules is calling out the sluggish T. Smith.

I think that Jules could be a good coach, he definitely has the fire and the ability to inspire. As for experience, he has decent playing experience, beyond that I'm not sure how sound his scheming is.

lol. I enjoy reading Rally's posts.

As for Javi, he is just not into the games right now. Twenty years from now, he look back on this season with a lot of regret as he has pretty much quit on the team. I watched only him for about 5 consecutive plays at one point in the game and the effort he showed was sloth-like.

Disappointing loss, but BC is a good offensive team. They lose to shitty teams like Harvard when they are not raining in the 3s. Last night they nailed the 3s when they counted and won.

Biggest thing that pissed me off last night was that we allowed that piece of shit Trapani to pull down 12 boards even though he rode the pine most of the 2nd half. That is just embarrassing.

^ What an absurd thing to say. That's clearly not even remotely close to most people are saying. It's just that a "road" game in front of just over 3,000 against a team whose biggest win is Maryland (by 4), and who has losses to Harvard, Yale, and URI, is not a game we wanted to lose by 9.

You're right. All hope is not lost. And I still sincerely hope that we make the tourney, and make a run in it, even if it means we have Coach Lowe stick around another year. I want the team to succeed far more than I want to see Coach Lowe gone/Harrow get more play time/[insert complaint here].

Unfortunately, all of the terrible trends that have plagued Coach Lowe's teams the past 4 years show no indication of ending this season, even with new talent. On top of that, our first winnable road game (which also happened to be our first) was a bust.

Clearly the second set of #s (I guess those are Harrow's) are more impressive. Harrow does not turnover the ball over much and he can score. The offense just runs smoother when he's in there. At the start of the season, I agreed with Javi starting and getting more PT. He showed some good upside last year but he has not built on the momentum of that at all. He has gotten worse. The most disappointing stat of his is his 3 point shooting. According to ESPN, Javi is shooting right at 30%. I was hoping he could be more consistent with that...but since he's not been a consistent 3 point shooter, he really does not bring a whole to the table that Harrow cannot provide.

I guess I should qualify that. The first game where we could head in to it and have a more than reasonable expectation to win it.

I probably won't go in to the games @FSU, @Clemson, @UNC, @Duke, @MD, or @UVA expecting to win like I did with BC, or will with Wake. That isn't to say that we can't or won't win any of those games...instead I'll just hope for a solid 40 minutes of basketball, and whatever happens, happens.

I guess he got Matt Moore syndrome (pre-knowing Clausen sucked ass). When there's low expectations and no viable option behind you, you can play loose and get away with doing some dumbass things. The pressure is up this year, and there's a star on the bench slowly eating his minutes away. It was kinda sad, but there were plenty of people cheering loudly when Harrow subbed in for Javi in the 2nd half of the Wake game. As a player who's been here four years, that's got to be hard to hear.

I'm still wondering how anybody thinks Hodge's comment about a bad late game substitution could possibly have any fucking thing to do with Tracy Smith, and not the glaringly obvious substitution of Harrow for Javi
