month or so ago i stopped in a pawn/gun shop and they had a fresh shipment of minimags they had jacked up to $14/hundred. i found a few boxes at the back of the shelf for $9/hundred and got them all. went ahead and picked up 1000 rds of Wolf Match Extra simply because it was still at regular price, which i thought was kinda dumb at the time, but i'm glad i got it now. 2/5/2013 9:23:48 PM |

Quote : | "Q. What should I do if the unordered merchandise I received was the result of an honest shipping error?
A. Write the seller and offer to return the merchandise, provided the seller pays for postage and handling. Give the seller a specific and reasonable amount of time (say 30 days) to pick up the merchandise or arrange to have it returned at no expense to you. Tell the seller that you reserve the right to keep the merchandise or dispose of it after the specified time has passed." |

Quote : | "Here is exactly what the ATF 'Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide' (ATF P 5300.4) says: (B9) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by carrier? A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by carrier to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm. [18 U. S. C. 922( a)( 2)( A) and 922( e), 27 CFR 178.31]
(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U. S. Postal Service? A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. A nonlicensee may not transfer any firearm to a nonlicensed resident of another state. The Postal Service recommends that longguns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms." |

NRR, thanks for that. I just ran across that on ar15.com
but i may just want to ship to FFL just to avoid any BS with crazy people.
UPS makes it pretty simple and affordable to ship a lower (sent one out of state a while back, went smooth).

Speaking of this, who else received some unsolicited DVD from the NRA where they want you to either return the DVD to them or send them payment for it? They've sent me follow-up bills for it about 5 times; I throw them all away. I'm obviously not going to pay for it, and I'm not going to go to the trouble of putting their DVD into their pre-paid mailer and walking it out to the mailbox, just on principle. I think they've finally given up and decided not to bother me anymore.2/6/2013 9:44:30 PM |

I think some instructional stuff or something. I never watched it.
All of their spam (mailed and emailed) irritates me. I don't know how many email promotions and letters of theirs that I've unsubscribed from. The DVD thing and repeated "bills" when I didn't return it are extra irritating. Apparently they do this shit routinely.
Between the fact that they are constantly bombarding me with shit, and the fact that they are fucking ridiculous in terms of policy sometimes makes me want to not renew my membership. I'm only a member to begin with because I dislike them far less than the antis that they resist. 2/6/2013 9:56:50 PM |

If you read the fine print, it says the DVD is a free gift, and paying for it is a donation, but signs you up for more of them.
I picked up a Mint Glock 37 OD tonight, with 300+ rounds of .45GAP for $400. The ammo alone is $125 or more. Now I need to decide what to do with it, as I don't really need another Glock right now. 2/6/2013 10:08:40 PM |

Quote : | "The .45 GAP has the same diameter as the .45 ACP pistol cartridge, but is slightly shorter, and uses a small-pistol primer instead of the large-pistol primer most commonly used in .45 ACP ammunition. Originally, the maximum bullet weight of the .45 GAP was 200 grains (13 g). In order to provide terminal ballistics on par with the standard 230-grain (15 g) .45 ACP loads, the .45 GAP was designed to operate at a higher standard pressure—roughly equivalent to the higher pressures found in .45 ACP "+P" rounds. Since the .45 GAP has a much smaller cartridge volume than the .45 ACP, the desired pressure and resulting velocity needed to be achieved through powder selection alone. Later development concluded that the .45 GAP could in fact fire 230-grain (15 g) ammunition just as the .45 ACP.

So I guess they tried to make the .45 caliber more efficient by reducing size without decreasing performance.2/6/2013 10:49:29 PM |

The point of the 45gap was to be able to fit a 45 in a 9mm/40s&w size grip.
I personally think its silly. 2/7/2013 12:13:10 PM |

This is my second G37. The first one I had, I sold the slide and converted the lower to shoot .40 (new ejector)
I'll probably do the same for this one, but at $400 for a LNIB OD glock I couldn't pass it up. I've seen these go for $700 on GlockTalk, without any of the ammo. 2/7/2013 3:04:39 PM |

Drool; I've been thinking about carrying a personal shotgun (over the crap issued) vs. spending the money on a personal rifle (new place doesn't supply us one).
That one is a way out of my price range though. 2/7/2013 9:39:29 PM |
