I'm not enjoying this pressure to get a premium subscription. This stuff about if you have 1000+ posts you should be paying is some bullshit. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to run this website, because that's dangled in our faces every time we say something the least bit critical. I understand. The thing is, I don't have 25 bucks to spend on a website. i don't have ten bucks to spend on a website. I just don't think that's cool to be pushing that in my face when I don't really have the money to spare for it. That's all.

in response to the original question, this in part is just another attempt to lure people into premium. but for the most part, it is to benefit the people who have already payed for premium. it provides a confidential way for VERIFIED people (not authority figures) to communicate without threat that their information will be leaked out into the public.

for all that are bitching, why the fuck do you care? I didn't take away anything from you guys! there are already several message board sections that are private! (section 6,9)

I could care less about a premium subscription. But I do notice, like I said in another thread, that every time someone has a complaint about the site, someone brings up "You dont realize how much money this site costs" blah blah. I look in the top part of my screen and I see this ad asking me to become a premium member. Why not use this space and actually sell some advertising! I realize that there used to be some real advertisements up there, but thats the problem: USED TO BE. Im sure there are PLENTY of businesses that would LOVE to have their name right in front of a bunch of college students everyday. There are two big whitespaces on each side of this box Im typing in right now. Think about how easily an ad for Adams Bookstore would fit one side and an add for Amedeos or Bojangles would fit on the other. Selling ads to businesses that have money is going to gain this website a lot more income then begging broke college students to make a "donation". But unfortunately this whole advertising thing makes too much sense, so I doubt anything will come of it.
scud: That whole "You should be ashamed for not contributing if you have 1000+ posts" sounds like those email forwards that say if you dont forward this email to save little Johnnys life then you will get whats coming to you. Oh, and youre right, this is a feedback forum...so you shouldnt expect everyone to post how great the site is, "Keep up the good work!", all the time. People are going to have negative things to say. i didnt think i would even read most of this but boredom has caused odder things.. anyways... i would actually have to somewhat side for drew on this one... its kinda like when beta testing a game and lets say you get a certain item in that game while its still "beta"... lets say when the game goes live they do not wipe out the beta characters people were using... but now the only way to get that item is to buy their expansion coming out in a month.. those who got it i would think should just keep it... as they have been around for a long time - supported and helped the game - helped the community grow, etc, etc... its just like a privelage for support. Im not saying everybody should have access to the premium pallace now tho, but I do think those that did have their special surnames should have got to keep them out of respect for them hanging around and supporting TWW with other means than their cash as long as they have. Besides, I don't know any non-old members who got a special tag without paying for the premium thing... just seems like something Jake and Joe could of left as an appreciation note.

Although I do know the_drew was complaining about the premium thing and that may have been why it was removed, etc, etc... but I still think those who did and maybe those who still have their names from pre-premium service should get to keep em.
