Wolf no biggie on the site goin down during my presentation, it was during the last main feature i was showing. They said it wont affect their decison. Better this happend now than when they start paying for the service.
I know you mentioned it above, but can you please host some sort of support on a box other than the box that serves our sites? When/if this happens can you please let us know how we can best contact you if something liek this happens again.

Yeah, i hate your damn dns servers. Just keep checking it like i showed you, If there is ever a doubt, check with a real DNS server, like http://www.dnsstuff.com/
Use the dns lookup in the upper right and do an A record search on http://www.yourdomain.com
Itll show an address in the 207.44.160.xx range if the DNS servers are set up correctly to point to my server. 1/9/2005 12:49:50 AM |

So looks like 207.218.245.120 does not have a route to the subnet that 207.44.161.157 is on.

It could mean a whole lot of things.
Quote : | " When a packet is undeliverable, a Destination Unreachable ICMP Type 3 message is generated. Type 3 ICMP packets can have a code value of 0 to 15.
The following ICMP Type 3 codes values are defined in RFC 1812:
Hexadecimal Decimal Description --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0x00 0 Network Unreachable - generated by a router if a forwarding path (route) to the destination network is not available;
0x01 1 Host Unreachable - generated by a router if a forwarding path (route) to the destination host on a directly connected network is not available (does not respond to ARP);
0x02 2 Protocol Unreachable - generated if the transport protocol designated in a datagram is not supported in the transport layer of the final destination;
0x03 3 Port Unreachable - generated if the designated transport protocol (e.g., UDP) is unable to demultiplex the datagram in the transport layer of the final destination but has no protocol mechanism to inform the sender;
0x04 4 Fragmentation Needed and DF Set - generated if a router needs to fragment a datagram but cannot since the DF flag is set;
0x05 5 Source Route Failed - generated if a router cannot forward a packet to the next hop in a source route option;
0x06 6 Destination Network Unknown - This code SHOULD NOT be generated since it would imply on the part of the router that the destination network does not exist (net unreachable code 0 SHOULD be used in place of code 6);
0x07 7 Destination Host Unknown - generated only when a router can determine (from link layer advice) that the destination host does not exist;
0x0B 11 Network Unreachable For Type Of Service - generated by a router if a forwarding path (route) to the destination network with the requested or default TOS is not available;
0x0C 12 Host Unreachable For Type Of Service - generated if a router cannot forward a packet because its route(s) to the destination do not match either the TOS requested in the datagram or the default TOS (0).
0x0D 13 Communication Administratively Prohibited - generated if a router cannot forward a packet due to administrative filtering;
0x0E 14 Host Precedence Violation. Sent by the first hop router to a host to indicate that a requested precedence is not permitted for the particular combination of source/destination host or network, upper layer protocol, and source/destination port;
0x0F 15 Precedence cutoff in effect. The network operators have imposed a minimum level of precedence required for operation, the datagram was sent with a precedence below this level;" |

go figure, and guess what, http://www.progress-systems.com is down too
i swear it shouldn't be too hard to understand, as a web host your company domain shouldn't be on the same server as your clients, hence if the server goes down, so does your support....
why is this so difficult to do???

Just wanted to let you guys know that i am here. Ive been working on this pretty much all day.
The servers are fine and alive, but we dont have internet access to an entire rack.
I had set up forums on a different box, but that box is in the same rack on our file backup server. Im now looking to purchase hosting somewhere else for this sole purpose.
Ill update you guys more, but until the data center figures out what theyve broken, Im sitting here with nothing to do but yell at them.
Ill post more as i know more. As far as i can tell, the main router for the rack just died around 10:30 this morning. 2/12/2005 5:17:32 PM |

I dont want to say that we are totally back up, but i think the server most of the sites are on is up. They may yet have to bring the rack down for short bursts to mess with the network, and they may not depending on how i feel about this router. It came up shortly for a minute or two, then went down again, now they say they have it up and stable, but i need to be convinced.
Sorry for the downtime, if you want to talk about it privately, PM me and we can talk.
Also, i would like to get some feedback from you regarding a new site layout.
It will be rolled out with the forums and some other nice features. Its still a work in progress and the links have been disabled on purpose.

DOH, its not the same problem as yesterday:
Quote : | "REMOTE REBOOT MIGRATION 02/25/05
This migration is now underway
The migration is scheduled to take place between 0700 and 1700 CST (-0600 GMT). Part of the process will involve removing and replacing your power cable. We highly recommend that you perform full backups of your system prior to this maintenance window. The estimated downtime for each server will be approximately 20 minutes, barring any problems with your server. Our technicians will verify that migrated servers are powered up properly and continue to function smoothly.
The following subnet ranges will be affected by this maintenance:
216.127.74.2-145 216.127.76.2-140 216.127.78.2-140 216.127.80.2-140 216.127.82.2-140 216.127.84.2-140 216.127.86.2-140 216.127.88.2-140 207.44.160.2-100 << THATS US 207.44.150.2-100 " |
If they had given me advance warning, i would have let you guys know, but this came as a suprise to me as well.
So as soon as they are done fixing my remote reboot capability, it should be back online.

Naw, this is nothing like enable. Unfortunately, today was out of my control. I didnt have much option here.
On the good news front, ive been waiting for this hardware, it also gives me remote KVM even during bios operation. Not that it matters to you guys, but it gives me a little more control over whats going on with the servers.
Ill be sitting here till the server is online and verified working.
