But it would have been pretty funny if, at Deunta's press conference, he said, "I'd like to thank Coach Bunting for making the trip down here today, but it was pretty silly considering I'm going to NC State."

Oh well.

it is still amazing to me that they already have a 19 deep recruiting class before the season starts, not good, just amazing

9 guys listed on scout.com as 1 stars

4 guys listed as 2 stars

the rest are 3* guys and deunta is the lone 4* guy

knowing the heels and the media coddling that they get most of these guys will be 3/4 stars before it is all said and done....but damn that number looks high compared to our 3 commits (2 of which are kickers) (i am excluding the rumors of silent commits and just sticking to the facts right now)

yeah, but as we all know hannah got the best of a number of coaches on that day

it was last minute, with a flair for the dramatic and the kid had VT, NCSU, UNC, and the gamecocks all believing that they had committed

as a coach you can only take a kid that calls you and tells you he will be attending your school at face value, cant fault bunting for that

for being an underachieving fat fuck....that is why i can shit on bunting

I guess Deunta wanted to be the gem of his College choices 2006 recruiting class. No shame in that.....look at Goddard 2 years ago and Jordan Hemby/Cam Sexton last year.

i think we are going to get Tebow. for some reason, i think we will.

I talked to Josh Adams this mornin and things sound good. He will be at Carter-Finley when VT comes to town on Sept. 4th. Keep an eye on UGa, TENN, and UNC in the race for him. (along with the Pack)

i dont have any inside info. on bond and spencer, but we've seen this too many times before. chuck really goes for guys and if they commit, he wants them to be quiet about it. we haven't heard anything about Bond/Spencer since they were all about the Pack a couple of months ago.

It's gotta be a good sign with us about Butler movin his press-conf. back a week, but UNC does scare me some because of Johnny White. Oh well.

Gotta love UNC's recruiting class so far... 19 guys and the only one with a Wolfpack offer is Deunta Williams. They are stacking up pre-season because they're gonna get whipped all fall.

That crap doesnt matter. I went to school with LeMarte McGhee and he commited to us in February of 03.....March of 03, he was wearing a leather Duke jacket around school.

Owen Spencer seems to have made up his mind for the pack, just waiting a few weeks to make the official announcement

this guy looks skinny as hell, but i am sure our trainers/nutritionists can put some bulk on him

also should be an interesting day for the Brent Shaeffer saga....all signs point to him announcing his transfer school of choice today

He can go anywhere he wants, but if Fulmer doesn't sign the release, he will just have to endure an extra year of sitting out. It is physically possible for him to come to State. We had all just assumed that there was no way he would want to sit out an extra year to play for State when he could go to USF or something and only have to sit out one year.
But it looks like we're still in the running somehow. He might have to sit two years. He might convince Fulmer to sign the release anyway. We might drop or reschedule the Tennessee games.
There are ways for him to come to State, and it looks like a decent possibility that he'll be here.

there has been serious info coming out that there is a plan in the works for him to come to state, some thought the announcement was going to come today

there are plenty of hoops to jump through, but it could be worked out....the Bobby Washington situation was sticky last year and we worked that one out

basically, if he comes here we will probably lose the TN series starting in '07, but there was a chance of that anyways, i dont think they really want to play us...seems to be a trend with the top 15 in the country to not want to give any games to prennial 18-35 teams, why play tough games that dont really add to your strenght of schedule (and that you "should win")

anyways, we are definately not out of this, the guy almost committed here 2 years ago so hopefully we are still his sentimental favorite

we shall see how this will play out

Justin Burke from KY will announce on friday.....seems to look like we have a chance at this 4* signal caller, Louisville being the stiffest competition (most think he was ordained to go there)

we shall see, would be a huge commit....seems more and more like the BS situation might be fizzling out

he will lose a year of eligablitiy

only have 2 left to play, says he wants to go to the SEC

but damn if he might not find himself recruited over, this is a tough road for him

i think he needed to get with a program and develop off the field and get used to a system to be successful, no it will be tough for him

im starting to feel pretty good about burke...which is coming out of nowhere, I've assumed he was for sure going to louisville this whole time. Here's to hoping friday goes well, i dont think we have a shot with tebow.

i watched the burke video tonight and he looks nasty

some of the mods on statefans seem to have something up their sleaves as far as burke goes, but we shall see, he is at purdue's camp now and wont say shit till friday....long time to sit and think

Schaeffer to JuCo. Didn't see that coming.
Oh well. (At least it's over - we can stop worrying about it)
I've wondered why this isn't more common in transfers. You can transfer to a JuCo for 1 year, then transfer to a D1A university and not sit out any more. And while you're at JuCo, you get playing time.
The downside is that you won't have the playbook and stuff from the final team. Brandon Jeffries did that when he transferred here - he went to a Comm College for a year and then came here and now he has 2 year to play 2.
If Schaeffer really wanted to come here, he could have transferred to JuCo and received a full release from Fulmer, stay there for 1 year, and then transfer here. That would completely bypass the sitting out 2 years deal from not receiving a release. (Of course, this is still a possible route, but he mentioned that he wanted to stay in the SEC)

This Burke talk has really come out of nowhere. Quite a surprise to me, but Hendu was acting very strange about the situation over at packpride. And when he acts this way, it's usually for a reason. The article said that PackPride would be on location at his press conference on Friday. I wouldn't mind at all if he pulled the trigger for State on Friday. (and Butler is giving his pc this thursday, right? still have a chance at him. That would be a huge 1-2 punch to get things rolling.)

And UNC got another commit. Some RB who sounds pretty solid, but nobody we were interested in. That puts them up to 20 commits on the year. I don't really care too much if they get decent players, but at least they're not stealing our prospects. Leaves a lot less competition on the board for us. They still have a couple of more (up to 5 maximum) scholarships left to give - hope they don't steal any good ones from us.

Brandon Spikes has finally let up his insistence of claiming he was only interested in the big-name schools. He took a 3 day visit to UNC last weekend and is gonna take one to State soon. Don't count us out of this yet (or UNC )
Aleric Mullins seems to have taken a liking to the Holes recently That would be a major blow if they got him.

So people of interest who are announcing soon and the Pack has a good shot at:
3* WR Owen Spencer (almost 100% NCSU)
4* QB Justin Burke (UK, Purdue, Louisville were thought to lead. Did NCSU sneak in and steal him?? Wants to major in Engineering.)
4* CB Crezdon Butler (Clemson or NCSU. Wants to major in Engineering. Everyone thought Clemson last week after he said the school was gonna let him play CB. We were recruiting him as WR. Did he push back his press conference because he told him he could play on defense? Or was it because he didn't want to take the spotlight from Johnny White, who committed a few days earlier?)

Just got Bedic's bro transferring from Penn state

he was a 2* linebacker from pennsylvania, but seems to be a hard worker so should help team with depth and morale

still waiting on word from burke camp....friday at 11:30 is the official presser more and more info seems to be pointing towards the pack

we shall see...sounds like will fidler might be pack bound as well!

Hmmm, Fidler went and pulled the trigger for Kentucky. Didn't see that one coming so soon.

I was hoping that he would hold off until after Burke announced. I feel confident that if Burke went to someone other than State, the staff would have put forth an offer to Fidler.

Does Fidler know something about Burke's intentions that we don't know? (I hope so, but I can't say that's really realistic...)

i think fidler knows burke is coming to NCSU, that is just my take on the situation

he said in the latest article on scout.com that if he had go say where he thought burke would go it was ncsu because of a number of positive reasons

just think he made the decision that he did not want to be a career backup...good luck to him

if we get burke i will be happy about how all this worked out, if we get left with no date for the dance as far as a qb goes it will be a shitty week

no shaeffer
fidler to kentucky
not being named on tebow's top 8-9 schools
losing burke

come on justin....pull the trigger

Fidler said in an article

"It does not matter where Burke goes, I will choose my school based on where I want to go"

That is what I was basing that statement on, seemed like he was at least gonna wait and see what NCSU did, in other interviews he seemed very high on state....but out of nowhere he committed to KY before Burke even announced

my opinion is that they spoke with each other (Burke/Fidler) or Fidler spoke to the NCSU staff and they informed him about Burke's decision and Fidler made the decision that he did not want to be a backup or NCSU's second choice at QB

I am just passing on info that i hear, doing the best i can to summarize, pick out the points that are most truthful/relevant.....recruiting is not an exact science and crazy shit will happen all the time against everyones better judgement

to be honest burke committing here, if it happens that is, would be a major shock and go against what everyone thought to be true just weeks/days ago

i am not truth telling/lying on here.....just trying to pass on the most salient info for you guys to think about....nothing in recruiting is written in stone!

wolfpack2105, I'll spare you the n00b jabs and remind you that not even Amato knows everything. The info that happens to make these boards is speculation, plain and simple.
I value WolfMiami's info more than some other posters, you may choose not to. But enough with the "you were wrong" n00bing, ok?
