id suggest vmware'ing it.
the longhorn pre-beta 4051(i believe) i installed natively, and it ran, but man it was definitely not ready to run even as a test system.
although im probably going to just go ahead and install beta1 native too, just because im a dork. 7/29/2005 2:14:29 PM |

is Virtual PC better or worse than VMWare? or do they do the same things. 7/29/2005 2:42:02 PM |

I just installed it on a different partion from XP and it Vista is running great on my computer (2GHz 754 Sempron, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9500 pro). I am actually using Vista to post this. I had used a earlier alpha of longhorn and I was not impressed in the slightest, but I am surprisied at the stability of this beta. The only real problem I have had is that driver installation was kind of a pain in the ass, since I had to manually install a lot of them, but pretty much everything works now.
Right now it is really only a prettier XP but if I had to I could use this to do my day to day stuff online. 7/29/2005 8:38:07 PM |

that's not the point of an OS, but nice to know that it's useless.

How the hell did you come up with Vista being 'useless'? 7/29/2005 8:52:45 PM |

Microsoft has been very good at keeping me employed fixing their shitty OSes.
I only hope they can be kind enough to keep up the trend. 7/29/2005 9:10:00 PM |

VMware is much better, especially its disk performance. It also has better snapshot management.7/29/2005 10:03:55 PM |

Hmm.
Vista seems to not particularly like my PC.
Boot up takes a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time and I get no boot screen.
In OS performance is terrible (Without avalon and indigo installed) and all this on a p4 3.4 with 1 gb ram. 7/30/2005 12:12:46 PM |
