I am a little biased too, because they are based in my hometown.

The guy at the beer store (Grapes and Hops in the 'Ville) mentioned Stone today when I questioned him about what the distributors will be getting, so hopefully it's true. He said the distributors will be giving him a list soon and he will pick what he wants to carry off of that list.

^^I tried to keep that list to things you can get now, but that list will grow in a couple weeks when things start coming in. Whole Foods and Total Wine both have decent selections of singles for around $1.25 if you want to try something before you spend money on an entire six pack, without knowing what you are gonna get.

i assume that by hoppiest you mean most hop bitterness? hoppiness can also be in the form of flavor and aroma.

i loved the 8th anniversary. what didnt you like about it?

my tasting notes: 22 oz bottle: the pour is a nice copper color. the aroma is really roasty an malty. oak. sweet this is a great beer. this is a very balanced beer. toasted caramel flavors with hints of coffee, oaky, fruity flavors thatt change to a more bitter, whisky vanilla character with a nice smooth warming alcohol effect.

According to WRAL.com, Basnight said that it appears the goal of adjorning by the weekend seems unlikely. The Governor has threatened to veto the budget and they feel it is unlikely that it will pass a third reading.

The hops were really mild when I had that beer, and it only "ok" IMO...that is if you are talking about the one from the UK (Wychwood).

What the hell does Budweiser and Michelob have to do with Microbeers?
Are they trying to apeal to people who don't consume beer with taste?
Seems to defeat the purpose.
Otherwise the majority of the beers on the list are quite tasty, but for $20 it will be a tough decision.

i have had the blue several times before and its quite good, i just picked up a 750 of the red and white today. i have heard good things about both. alot of people seems to the the red and white better than the blue. i have heard that the blue yeasted to better like 5-10 years ago, i cant really remember.

i hope to see st bernardus abt 12 soon. and westvletren would be awesome too.

i like belgians but bring on the dipas and the imperial stouts.

I want to bring this thread back because there's so much new stuff in the area and I'm not sure what to try. I've give my opinion of one I did try, though.

Three Philosophers: A dark belgian ale, it's got a malty fruity flavor. It's part belgian ale, part cherry lambic, but the cherry wasn't overpowering. It didn't have much hopiness, and I think that would have balanced it out more. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

I actually started brewing my own stuff here at home. My first foray into the brewing world begins with a nice Irish Stout. I'll let you all know how it turns out, as though you all give a shit.

I'm using reusable Grolsch swing-top bottles to bottle it. I don't see why anyone would pay $20 to buy 12 of them empty and then pay shipping from a brewery supply store, when you can buy em filled with Grolsch for $2 a piece at the grocery store.

I don't drink it out of the bottle, so all I have to do is rinse it and then sanitize before refilling

Ive heard it done both ways, both plastic bottles and brown glass

I don't really like recapping the bottles, plus the grolsch bottles are resealable, which is good because with a real strong stout, I don't always want to drink the whole shebang at once. Plus they are thicker,nicer and more resistance to breakage.
