for 27: the basic equation u need for this problem is: x(t) = Asin(Wn*t + phi). we can find Wn cause we're given K and W (which can be converted). find your velocity using principles of energy (make sure units are converted. end up with inch/sec). solve for A by saying [xnot^2 +(xdotnot/Wn)^2]^.5. xnot will go to zero cause of where u set ur datum. solve for phi by saying phi = inversetan(xnotWn/xdotnot).

Has anyone figured out how to calculate the force transmitted to a point when it is just the damper connected to the fixed surface (the question he left us hangin with in problem 1 on the sample test)? I have been trying to derive it all day and I can not come up with anything.
