I think this thread should be named to "Official HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE THE REDSKINS ARE UNDEFEATED".

I dont have a problem with optimism but have some perspective. if I beat a retarded kid up am i really the heavy weight champ?

chiefs on sunday. roaf is back for those guys. discuss.

i think our rush defense will be tested... we had a great defensive game against denver (lots of three-and-outs) except for those two huge plays.. one of which was adidd by a block in the back that went uncalled... but that aside - i dont see why we can't contain this offense if we could contain the seahawks. we'll hopefully move the ball on them as we did against denver and the seahawks and chew up a bunch of clock.

and, clinton will get a big run this weekend, its the chiefs...

depends on how healthy the secondary is. the chiefs are theoretically a good passing team, though they haven't shown it too much this year.

i saw prioleau was back a little last week, which is nice, because we do NOT need to be shuffling personnel around such that we have ade jimoh playing CB. or bowen in at safety, for that matter. i think we will be fine on D against the run. the passes to priest worry me a bit though.

i really hope springs can go, because as we saw last week, carlos rogers is much better on run coverage than pass coverage. kennison can torch rogers if he feels like it.

skins offense should be okay, i think. last week was very encouraging on the road against a good team. and that blatant block in the back by putzier sprang tatum bell on the long td run, if not for that who knows what could have happened.

I've got $100 on the Redskins to win under 7.5 games this year so needless to say I'm not happy about their start.

ALso they cost me big time on the MNF game.

This team stinks but they keep pulling out W's....

they should drop these next two though...

^ worthless stat, plus look at Jack Del Rio who is 2-2 vs teams with winning records and the teams that Jax played are far superior to the ones the skins played

also Mike Shanahan is 2-0 vs. teams with a winning record. last time i checked 1.000 is better than .750

sorry... what i meant was, find another NFL team with more wins against teams over .500

also, what are you doing in this thread? just come back and say i told you so at the end of the season if appropriate, but for now, just leave. do redskins fans being optimistic make you that upset? is beating the cowboys and seahawks of no consequence? you also make it sound like we lost to a jobber.

denver is a great team and we barely lost a game that we had a chance to tie with less than 2 minutes left. on the road. i just. want. to talk about the team and the games with redskins fans. just, don't post anymore.

re: the redskins suck and have been getting lucky and blah blah blah

we have outgained every opponent in 4 games on the ground, even the seahawks. and haven't been held under 100 yds. rushing yet

other notable statistics-
vs. Bears:
total yards 323-166
possesion 34:15 - 25:45

vs. Seahawks:
posession 39:22 - 26:09
13-18 on 3rd down conversions

vs. Broncos:
total yards 447-257
1st downs 28-11

I'll give you dallas as us being thoroughly dominated, but we beat them deep. twice, and we held their drives in check minus their one deep ball. other than that, who cares if it seems like we've been pulling games out of our asses, we're good. we control the ball on offense, get first downs, and play great defense. the only thing that concerns me is our inability to get touchdowns on the ground in the red zone, and our tendency to give up the occasional big run. but we're a good tackling team on the whole, especially with a healthy defense. last year we wouldve been in games if we had any semblance of an offense. this year it's getting better.

well, shit.

moss and brunell were great. gotta quit giving up the big plays. seems like the last two weeks, the tatum bell runs and that priest holmes screen, were not designed as big-yardage plays. we were just in position and didn't make plays. the cartwright fumble didn't help, either. had betts been healthy he wouldn't have fumbld that ball...

was hoping to win one of the two early AFC west game, but at least we have the next two vs. that conference at home... and the 49ers next sunday at FedEx.

by the way, was it me or did the chiefs play almost three quarters of penatly-free football?

3-2 with both loses coming in brutal road trips

Wild card is certainly within reach if the team continues to improve on offense

everything we've been holding our breath about finally came through today:
-turnovers
-LaVar back in and playing pretty well
-portis finding the endzone (x3!!)

granted it was against one of the worst teams in the NFL, but who cares. we looked great. now a week of washington post columns that are really optimistic... fuck yeah.

This year's team is what Redskins football is all about - hustle, smart football, teamwork, and guts. Even in the losses I have been impressed with the never say die effort. It's a true relief that one of my two favorite teams can still resemble a decent football squad.

today was fun.

ran it up on a bad team, but still, ran it up.

the 8th string FOX announcers were pretty bad, but i have to agree, the skins need to force turnovers by someone other than rookie QBs.

^^ amen. and we're getting better every week. the team, if you read or watch any interviews throughout the week, really has bought in to everything gibbs' coaching staff does. moss is the ultimate team player, portis doesnt really care about all the touchdowns. we control the ball, convert 3rd downs (who knew you could actually feel comfortable with brunell on 3rd and 10?) and stop the run.

defense will start to become more explosive while it stays fundamentally sound. i liked the use of 3-4 today with lavar in the backfield a lot. we'll see if we can be for real @ nyg and with the eagles at home the next two weeks.

HAIL.

I seriously think the skins have an awesome shot at a wildcard this year, nasty D and Brunell is getting it done

If they werent in the nastiest division in the NFL i'd be even more optimistic, but it's an awesome feeling to see the redskins winning again

The last time the skins made the playoffs i was in middle school!

brunell should continue to stay hot on sunday with the giants' 31st rated pass defense in the NFL, and some weak corners i think we can exploit. defensively i dont think pressuring manning is as important as everyone seems to be saying -- good pass coverage, which we've played all year, is equally as important.

i know we'll stop the run succesfully, just hope we dont miss tackles and give up a big play. i predict that if we win or break even in turnovers, we win this game. These guys played dallas and denver pretty as close as we did,the only difference being a miracle drive for the giants won the game (against denver) when ours only gave us a possible tie.

if we manage to pull out a road win again in the NFC east on Sunday, imagine the Sunday night crowd at FedEx the following weekend. holy shit, i'll definitely be there.

we got the shit beat out of us.

is it just me or did it seem like every player at every position, did as bad as they possibly could (or the exact wrong thing) almost every single play? total domination. turnovers made a 21 or 28-0 blowout even worse, thirty-six points to zip. the tiki run like 5 seconds into the game just seemed to flatten us completely. brunell looked like mid-2004 brunell. receivers dropped passes for first downs.

where do we go from here? fluke? do we just suck? i know the giants are good, but are we that bad? we havent looked remotely this bad since spurrier.

it was not a good day. nothing went right.

there were at least 8 dropped passes, including that would-be TD. royal couldn't catch the ball if brunell had fucking tossed it to him granny style.

skins couldn't tackle AT ALL. sean taylor was playing out of position. walt harris would have trouble tackling a man with two peg legs.

ladell betts fumbled 3 out of 4 times in a row where he touched the ball.

and apparently the key to run on the skins is to run it outside. that was made clear at the broncos, i don't know why it hasn't been fixed.

hopefully we can fix our mistakes.

i think today was an anomaly. we're also not as good as we were last week, of course. 7-9 or 8-8 maybe, the schedule is tough. before the season i was expecting 3-13, so it's not that bad overall.

see, the thing that confuses me about today is that typically walt harris has been a great tackling corner. taylor plays out of position a lot, but not to the tune of two HUGE runs given up really early. even moss and patten dropped passes when they were open. not typical of the sound football we've played until today. even in our AFC west losses, we played solid minus a couple mistakes.

we now have 4 NFC east games left (3 home), @ tampa bay saint louis and arizona, and chargers & raiders at home.

if we're lucky we can split the conference games (fedex field is huge for the skins, we play really well at home), and win one of the AFC west games (again HF advantage), and beat the cardinals and steal one of the other two. Thats ... 9-7.

Being realistic, I agree with 7-9 or 8-8.
(of course, the key would be to sweep the home conference games, and beat the jobbers... arizona, oakland, and saint louis. that's six wins out of the last nine, and 10-6. that's the pipe dream.)

no terrell owens this sunday. can't decide if this is good news or bad, as shawn taylor pretty much had him running scared all game last year at FedEx. he could still torch us, though, but not sunday ideally.

considering the one thing this eagles team does poorly (run) is the one thing we've been having trouble stopping the last 3 games (not including the 49ers in that), I like our chances. a lot.

we REALLY needed this win. this keeps the bucs wild card hopes alive. with the giants losing today we could also have moved into a first-place tie in the east. very frustrating. Now we pretty much have to win 4, if not 5 games out of the next 7 to have hope.

FUCK the alstott spot on the 2 point conversion.
