Actually, from what I've seen, women aren't turned on by homosexual activity between two guys. At least not the way men will watch a show or movie just to see chicks make out.

^ Yeah.

Guys would much rather see two girls go at it than girls want to see two guys.

I have high-hopes for this film. The reviews are still extremely good and I am glad that there is still hype about it.

you're serioulsy ignorant if you think this movie is hyped because anti-gay people are complaining about it

^ Overall I think that is a small part. Controversy draws attention.

But by most accounts it is a great movie. It will be nice once it finally comes to a theater here.

^^you know, you could just put your $7 towards a gay porn dvd so you can pause and rewind the heiny-poking parts over and over. it sounds like that's your most economical move.

Question for those who have seen the movie:

Just how explicit are the sex scenes? Reason I ask is because I would like to see the movie but my husband gets pretty grossed out by male on male action. Better as a rental?

there's plenty of explicit anal penetration in this movie.

in fact, the whole two hours is pretty much a continuous ass pounding

OK so I read the story this weekend, it was in an anthology I had

that's right, a 10 or 20 page SHORT STORY got fleshed out into a feature length film?

wtf.

^^The Shawshank Redemption and Memento were short stories that were made into feature length films. This is nothing new.

Ha! That article was gay ( ),

Quote :
"the media should be examining why it’s OK to play a rapist, a demon, a vampire from hell, a serial killer who eats his victims with fava beans and nice chianti, or any of the hundreds of sick, warped, twisted characters Hollywood puts out and we gobble up."

That is a pretty idiotic statement. In any of those roles, the actor doesn't actually have to kill or rape people... it's acting. I'm not an actor, but I would guess that having to actually kiss/makeout with another man, even though you're acting, would be a hard thing to do. Not to mention they would also have to face the asshats (like other people on here) who now harbor some hatred against those actors for playing gay people.

too me its a chick flick or a date type movie because its more of a romance, ehh whatever i just can't believe that Larry "Lonesome Dove" McMurtry co-wrote the screenplay. I probably won't see it though, not big on romance movies.

I walked into Churchills as the Rialto showing was letting out.

Lots of pairs of men holding hands, some in cowboy hats. Weird crowd for a western.

Went by there with 10 mins to spare, but the line was so far down the street that I gave up on it. Maybe I'll try a matinee showing sometime. Couldn't find any other theatres on http://www.triangle.com/ that are showing the movie in raleigh or cary.

I saw it tonight at the Rialto. Had to get tix a few hours in advance, though. It was a great movie - very delicate and subtle. The sex scenes were brief and nothing too vulgar was shown. It was more tasteful than I had anticipated.

Really? You mean there wasn't full frontal buttfucking?!? IN AN ANG LEE FILM?!?!?!?!

It's done ridiculously well in Raleigh so far. Go see it at the Rialto. If anybody goes to see it when it opens at Crossroads, I will personally murder them twice.

I went and saw Brokeback for the first time with 4 friends of mine...and yeah I can see why it's getting Oscar buzz....its' not some lame gay story..it's about much more, and VERY WORTH THE 2 plus hours of viewing it...we're going to go back and view it.. KICK ASS MOVIE!

It's playing at the Realto in Raleigh, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, and at some independant theatre on Franklin St. in Chapel-hill.
